Cameraman Pierce Danser has not seen his best friend and famous actor, Ryan Dot, in several weeks. When movie executives order Pierce to find the missing actor, he has no choice but to begin his fourth game of dot to Dot. Unfortunately this time, he may be in way over his head.

Pierce has no idea if Dot has disappeared voluntarily or if he has been kidnapped. Assisted by an assortment of odd characters, Pierce follows a trail of clues that lead him from Hollywood to the wheat farms of Michigan as the misplaced cinematographer searches for his often beguiling and quixotic best friend. Amid a series of miscues and misadventures, murder and mayhem, and laughter and discovery, Pierce soon realizes that his quest to find Dot is becoming more arduous than he ever imagined.

In this colorful and adventuresome mystery, a movie cameraman embarks on a search for his famous best friend where he must trust his instincts to find the answers and, more importantly, the truth.

Greg Jolley (also published under Gregory French) earned a master of art in writing from the University of San Francisco. He is the author of sixteen novels and one collection about the fictional, film industry-based Danser family. He currently lives in the Very Small town of Ormond Beach, Florida

I really enjoyed reading this novel. One of my favorite things about this book is it's told from the point-of-view of Pierce, a cameraman who's looking for his famous actor best friend, so we get a lot of vivid descriptions. I could visualize everything I read which made reading the book that much more enjoyable. Kind of like a movie.

This book is about a character named Pierce Danser who goes on an mission to find his best friend, who happens to be a famous actor, when he goes missing. So he has to engage in a game of dot to Dot. Sound easy, right? Find Dot and bring him back. But a task Pierce thought easy turns out to be anything but.

I enjoyed reading this book and I recommend it to others. Very suspenseful and unpredictable.

Dot to Dot, the Danser novel by Greg Jolley, was a thrill to read and refreshingly different from other mysteries I’ve encountered.

Pierce Danser is a mild-mannered, happily married cameraman who, at the opening of the book, is filming the very famous actor Ryan Dot in a murder scene. Dot, who also happens to be Danser’s best friend, decides to exit the set and take one of his frequent escapades to who-knows-where. The higher-ups in the movie industry seek help from Danser, the only person who has a chance of finding the highly-creative and untraceable Dot – with one message: Bring him back so we can continue filming.

But things look fishy and Danser begins to wonder if Dot has disappeared on his own, or if he’s been kidnapped this time. As he searches for clues, it looks like his quest to find his friend might be dangerous to his own life.

Mingled in with scenes of Danser looking for Dot we get flashbacks of their friendship in past years. They are colorful characters and the dialogue between the two friends is fun and entertaining, as is the fact that Danser frequently steeples his fingers together to view life through the eyes of a lens. Always “filming,” Danser often sees more than he says, and as a reader it is fun to view the world through his eyes.

Author Greg Jolley is a strong voice in fiction who obviously knows the film industry well. Full of enriching props such as Fanta grape pop, old Buicks, and a very efficient secretary, Dot to Dot is a page-turning, visually rich mystery that holds enough clues to keep us intrigued, enough danger to keep us on our toes, and an age-old friendship to touch our hearts. It’s a must-read.

Nice to see Pierce agin

I'm partial, but this was one was fun. Stephanie did a great edit (again). The next Pierce novel is in "ingredients" stage.

Fun read

Had me guessing all the way through. I enjoyed the sardonic humor. Glad there are more Danser novels to keep me busy,
