He has a billion reasons to be happy...until he meets her. Then only one reason matters.
When Hunter Caine takes over the CEO position at his father's multi-billion dollar real estate development company, he also inherits his father's sexy blonde personal assistant, Allison McDowell.
Allison doesn’t appreciate being passed around like property. When she meets Hunter, sparks fly. He’s gorgeous, but she's ready to resign, until he proves he’s not the misogynistic boss his father was.
Hunter's considering the purchase of a resort in Costa Rica. It's currently a couples-only resort, so he asks Allison to go undercover with him, posing as newlyweds. Allison's skeptical, but it's a free trip to Costa Rica, and Hunter's easy on the eyes, so why not?
Those sparks turn into raging hot flames as Hunter and Allison explore the resort--and each other--and discover that what happens in Costa Rica may or may not actually stay in Costa Rica.
Margaret grew up in the gray and rainy Willamette Valley of Oregon, but a twist of fate sent her and her family to the frozen tundra of North Dakota where she fell in love with the rugged landscape and bracing weather. Sustained by cupcakes, coffee, and cats, Margaret brings you sexy heroes, sassy heroines, and lots of heart-pounding action.
Hunter: The Caine Brothers, Book One by Margaret Madigan is the first book in her new series, The Caine Brothers. It is about the oldest Caine brother, Hunter, and his new PA he "inherited" from his father after his retirement. Hunter is one of six boys.
Hunter plans to do business differently from his father but Allison McDowell doesn't realize he isn't the misogynist he appeared to be at his father's wedding. Ready to turn in her resignation, Hunter hits her with a proposition instead. Pose as a couple with him at a couples only resort in Costa Rica so they can go "undercover" to evaluate the resorts merits. With her resignation still in her possession she decides to agree to the arrangement. It is purely business, after all. Neither one truly expected their "undercover" assignment to wind up with them, quite literally, under the covers, but what happens in Costa Rica stays in Costa Rica, right?
A sweet, well-paced, steamy romance that is just really great in all the right ways. I really enjoyed this and can't wait to read more from this author and these brothers.
Hunter was a quick and fairly easy read. Unfortunately, I could not rate it higher because there were many moments that felt mildly unpolished and others repetitive. Hunter had a penchant for using "Je$us F_ck_ng C#ri$t" during intimate scenes and the overuse of it grated.
There’s a reason why they say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas – it’s the only city that it applies to.

If there’s one thing I’ve come to appreciate since beginning my journey as a reviewer, it is to see how authors can add their personal touch, individual characteristics to what you’d think were storylines and plots that were identical. How many times have readers compared billionaires enjoying the sight of the curvy secretary or the personal assistant? I’m sure if I were to make a search on Amazon, more than two dozen authors would appear in the search engine. However, Margaret Madigan has made her billionaire, Hunter Caine greedy and arrogant, the type of man that women would be physically attracted to and yet at the same time repulsed by his attitude towards life in general – how money can solve just about anything and be a reason to be able to do what he wants to do and when he wants. Allison is the woman many of us dream to be: who wouldn’t want to work for the attractive employer? So many aspects of this novel made it interesting and entertaining to read, which kept me coming back for more. The plot twists were hilarious at times and unexpected as well, the characters, although some that you wouldn’t necessarily find at every street corner, were still relatable since they had self doubts, pain, love, passion, as you would with a partner or a family member (without the sexual encounter), and most of all, Costa Rica has always been known for its couples’ destination that allows them to strengthen their bond. Hunter is a great start to a new series from Margaret Madigan that I would absolutely continue watching, to see where the storyline of the family will evolve and especially, to find out what this author will publish next. . **Received a copy in exchange for an honest review. A snappy little read that I was glad was only a novella, hang on a minute I only say that because any longer and my day would have been a write off, I couldn’t put this down as it was! This is the first in a series and if this is anything to go by these brothers are going to be a handful. Hunter is the eldest of the six brothers and we get a bit of a look at the whole family in this story and I must say they have me chomping at the bit for the rest of the series because they certainly brought a smile to my face. Up to his eyes in the family business Hunter is a man that knows his own mind but when he took over from his father he got everything that came with the position and that included his dad’s PA Allison. Now Allison was not just a pretty face, she had her role down pat but she is aiming higher and has her sights set on bigger and better things, after all she didn’t spend all that time getting a degree to do nothing with it. But she has to bite her tongue when Hunter turns out to be much more than she had him pegged for and this crafty man has a plan for Allison. The deal: One weekend, scoping out a potential new investment in Costa Rica together and if she still has her mind set on leaving then he will accept her resignation. So, resignation on hold, she agrees to pose as his partner for the weekend and off they go. Now I thought I had this sussed but I was wrong, it was so much better than I had anticipated. This pair set my kindle on fire but when they agreed that once they were back, the events of the weekend would be forgotten, I shook my head and laughed – yeh, like that was ever going to happen. Allison was a feisty character, she really was such a strong woman who was really trying to make the best of her life, she had plans…but could those plans include a certain alpha male? Could they pick up where they needed and admit that what happened in Costa Rica was only the tip of their iceberg?
I really enjoyed this novella, which is the first in a series about six brothers – who all cracked me up when they’re together!
Hunter is the eldest and has just taken over the reins of the family company from his father, who’s just married for the fourth time and recently retired. With the role, he inherited Allison – beautiful, intelligent, and efficient PA, who’s aiming for a bigger career using her law degree.
Fed up of the misogynistic ways of Hunter’s father, and mistakenly thinking that Hunter is the same, Allison has prepared a letter of resignation. However, Hunter needs her to pose as his wife to scout out a couples-only resort in Costa Rica for business. She decides to hold off on her decision until they come back. Furthermore, they acknowledge the sizzling mutual attraction between them, and decide that ‘what happens in Costa Rica, stays in Costa Rica’!
Unfortunately, Allison brings out Hunter’s softer, more care-free side, and feelings get in the way of their ‘weekend only’ fling. When their weekend is over, do they have the courage to admit their real feelings and take things further?
This was a fun, super sexy, short love story. I really can’t wait to read about the rest of the brothers!
I liked the story line, although it did move a little too fast not really allowing me enough time to fully develop feelings for the characters. I did enjoy Hunter and Allison's story and would have loved to have seen more. I'm not a big fan of 3rd person writing so it was hard for me to get into this book but I pushed through and did end up liking it more than I thought I would have. If you like stories about Alpha Millionaires and Sassy no-holds-barred woman, than this is a story for you. The sex is hot, there's a tiny bit of dominance but nothing like some of the other millionaire books' I've read. Everything flows together, there is a little bit of angst but most of all, there is a HEA - a big must for me. The attraction is palpable, the story is sweet & sexy, and I like that even though there isn't a cliff hanger, the ending is left open for more from the group of unique Caine Brothers'.

I was gifted a copy of Hunter in exchange for an honest review. I really enjoyed Hunter, I finished it in one sitting. It was short, sweet, hot and sexy. I really liked Allison, she was a feisty female lead that knew what she wanted. So if you like a feisty female lead, a sexy alpha male and a hot read - this is the book for you! I can't wait to read more about the Cain brothers! A biker, a Navy SEAL, an MMA fighter, a rock star and a shifter!! That is one blessed family! I will most definitely be buying the rest ;)
I was gifted this book in return for an honest review.I seriously read this book in one sitting; in 2 1/2 hours. It kept and held my attention and I did not want to stop reading it. Only reason for the 4 stars is because it is short, about 120 pages. I prefer books that are 250 to 350 if not more. However, the writing and descriptions in this book are amazing. This book is sexy and the sexual tension with in the pages gripd you. I can't wait to read more about the Cain brothers.

Hunter and Xander are brothers. They're going on about yet another wedding of their father's. Wedding number four and Hunter and Xander are over it from the tone of their talking. Makes you wonder just how many brothers they have at Xander's question about where everyone else is. We learn there are at least 6 of them! At the reception after the wedding, Dalton Caine tracks down comes walking up to some of the brothers with a woman in tow, one that is not his wife. He has apparently retire from the family business and is now telling Hunter he is passing on his personal assistant to Hunter. What happens on Monday when Hunter comes into the office with Allison? Why does she do what she does? What happens when Hunter asks for her opinion and then to take a trip with him to Costa Rica to look at a property is fun to read. Shows us what she really thinks about Hunter before she realizes it. What happens when Allison and Hunter go to the resort, to scope it out and see if Hunter wants to buy it? Read this book and find out! The humor in this book is palpable. From not poking bears, to porn comments out of the blue that you would not expect. The way the author integrates these into the book makes this a really fun read from beginning to end.
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin' With M.Brennan.
I really loved this book, and finished it in one sitting. Hunter Caine is taking over as CEO of his father's company, he inherits his sexy personal assistant. Hunter feels an instant spark with her, but he's her boss. Allison isn't liking feeling passed around. She feels the sparks between her and Hunter, but she's ready to resign until he proves he's nothing like his father. When Hunter is considering purchasing a resort in Costa Rica, he gets Allison to go undercover with him as it's a couples only resort. Will what happens in Costa Rica stay in Costa Rica?
Hunter is a short, and sexy read. The character development is good, with the secondaries amazing as well. A fast paced, and well written story line flows smoothly. Allison and Hunter's chemistry is flammable, and finally exploded in some serious SCORCHIN' sexy scenes. Margaret Madigan's easy writing style had me hooked from the very beginning, and I cannot wait to read about the rest of the brothers, so I happily HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Received an ARC from the author for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book. It was a short, steamy love story where man meets woman and sparks immediately fly between them. Hunter Caine is the oldest of 6 Caine men and inherited his father's real estate company when his father gets married for the fourth time and decides to retire. At the wedding he is introduced to Allison (his father's personal assist). Since Allison is only working as a PA until she can get a job in corporate law (she has her law degree) she decides she is going to resign once Hunter takes over. Things happen and Hunter gets her to agree to go on a business trip for the weekend before he will accept her resignation. During their short trip, neither one can deny the chemistry between them. To find out how things end for them, you need to pick up a copy. After reading Hunter's story; I'd like to see where Margaret goes with the other 5 Caine brothers.
Hunter Caine is your everyday kind of billionaire; you know the type. Hot, sexy, confident and rich. For him, life is perfect, he doesn’t need anyone other than himself. A relationship is a burden rather than a blessing.
Allison is hates men to treat her any less than equal. She’s not like the other girls Hunter’s dated, she doesn’t swoon over his large…. Bank balance. She’s independent, outspoken and she does not need a man to make her feel wanted.
When a business trip takes them to a couples only resort, the weekend away gives them something neither of them were looking for or even thought possible. Once on the idyllic resort a steamy agreement gets made.
It’s only a weekend right? It can’t hurt to have some fun… can it?
Were they kidding themselves into thinking it would be easy to walk away? Will one of them swallow their pride and take the first step?

If you like quick reads with plenty of heat, then this is the book for you! Hunter was short, hot, and well written. I finished it in one sitting in just a few hours, and it held my attention easily. This is a book you don't want to miss!
Hunter is a billionaire businessman. Allison is his new personal assistant. They check out a couples resort in Costa Rica together, as a business investment, posing as a couple. This single statement in the description sums the story up well: "He had a billion reasons to be happy...until he met her. Then only one reason mattered." They had a deal, and what happens in Costa Rica stays in Costa Rica... Or does it?
This is the first book in the Caine Brothers series and my first book by Margaret Madigan. I have to say that I was quite impressed and can't wait to read more books in this series! I'm especially looking forward to hearing more about Damian and Bishop.
I love finding new authors!! This is the first book I have read by this author but it won't be my last. I read this book in one sitting. It is a little short for my liking, but I still really enjoyed it. Allison is my hero. She is what every heroine should be like. She is a kick ass and sassy woman who has no problem putting Hunter in his place. And Hunter, oh man is he quite the exquisite man. If the rest of this series is as good as this one, then it is going to be great. Like I said my only issue with it is that it was a little short for me. Other than that, this book is great. Can't wait to find out more about these Caine Brothers. It's going to be fun watching each and every one of them fall and fall hard. A copy was gifted in exchange for an honest review. 4.25 AMAZEBALLS stars in my eyes.
I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. This is written in second person, which I usually can't stand, but this was very well written and kept my attention. I did give 4 stars because of the length of the book, I wanted more from these characters story.
Hunter is the typical sexy power driven billionaire who doesn't see a point to get close to other people, until he meets the one he can't get enough of. Allison is feisty and original. She can hold her own without a man. During a business vacation things get sexy. They realize they won't be able to stay away after the three days they share but they can't admit it to each other. The Cain brothers are hilarious and I can't wait for the other books of this series.
Hunter Caine is now taking over Caine Development and has inherited his dad's old PA. What happens when the spunky blonde doesn't want to take his shit thinking he's just like his dad? Allison is a no-nonsense PA who has graduated law school and took the first company that hired her. She hates egotistical men who like to treat her badly. What happens when the new CEO not only turns her head, but makes her realize that he's nothing like his father. Hunter finds a couples only resort that he's interested in buying. What happens when he and his PA go undercover at the resort? Will sparks fly, or will he crash and burn? Find out in this good read!!!
Hunter is the first book in the series of the Caine Brothers. It is the story of Hunter Caine (hence the title) and Allison who was hired by Caine’s father to be his assistant. This isn’t the typical billionaire boss and his assistant. Allison has her law degree and has her sights set on a different role. She thinks Hunter is exactly like his father who thinks women are for beauty and all that entails only. The characters are believable and I was hooked starting in Chapter One. If you are looking for a HEA this is one you won’t want to miss. Since there are so many brothers I can’t wait for the next book!! Great writing Margaret Madigan.
This has to be every girl dream...going away with a gorgeous guy to a sexy resort. I'd do it in a heartbeat. There's a twist though. Hunter is taking over as CEO and is looking to buy it. There's a catch, its a couples resort. His dad has graciously given him a new assistant. Sparks fly immediately between them and they can't help but do more when they get down there. I mean it has to look realistic right? Hunter never thought he would fall in love but things always have a way of changing. This was cute sexy read that includes some smokin' hot sex and scenery.
I really enjoyed this book. Hunter's a sexy billionaire who's used to getting what he wants. Then Allison comes into his life and rises to the challenge of teaching Hunter there's more to life outside his office and money. She's feisty and full of life and kept me turning the pages to see how Hunter would react to her. If you want a story you can get sucked into full of hotness, grab a glass of wine and dive into Hunter.
I love a good book about an Alpha Male who is brought to his knees by a feisty Female. The chemistry between Hunter and Allison was perfect....not only in the "bedroom" but out of it as well.
I read Hunter in about a day and a half and truly enjoyed it. It was sweet, sexy and funny! I can't wait to see the rest of the Caine brothers fall as well!!!!
I am a NEW fan of Margaret Madigan and can't wait to read more from her!
I was gift this ARC for an honest review. This was a good book, I liked Hunter Caine, I just wish there was more story to the book. Allison seemed like a good character, but I was left wondering why she was alone and what her story was aside from law school and her brother. This was a quick easy read and I was entertained and wanted to keep reading. I look forward to reading about the other Caine brothers. If you are looking for a quick and sexy read this is a good book for just that.
I read this book in one sitting, it was short but sexy, Hunter is a great character, but I loved Allison, she is feisty, independent and not afraid to do what she wants. They are both stubborn but sweet, even though none of them realizes it.
The storyline is good, the author writes a story that can be read fluently and interesting. I can't wait to read about the rest of the brothers.
Margaret Madigan has a great depth in her writing. This is the third of her books I've read , and she moves through sub-genres with ease. Romance, be it historical or contemporary, has to have all the requisite parts, great characters, a solid storyline, and to die for sex. Madigan succeeds on all levels.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. I absolutely loved it. The chemistry between Allison & Hunter was explosive. This was a novella. Short sweet & to the point. I wanted an HEA and you didn't disappoint! Looking forward to more of these sexy hot Caine Brothers!
I received this book as an ARC in return to leave an honest review!! I loved the love story between Allison & Hunter!! The chemistry was awesome and I would definitely recommend this book and read more by this author!!
Loved this book! It was short and sweet. But it was great seeing these two characters fighting their attraction. Also the this place in the book sounds like heaven to visit. Can't wait for more of these brothers.
This book was fairly short but enjoyable nonetheless. Allison was very feisty but likeable and I loved Hunter and look forward to reading more about the Caine brothers.
