The Las Vegas Madam: The Escorts, The Clients, The Truth

Sin City EXPOSED! The Las Vegas Madam will make 50 Shades of Grey Blush Crimson!

The Las Vegas Madam: The Escorts, the Clients, the Truth takes you inside the life of a call girl as she spirals into a world of glamour and secrets and expose.

When a scandalous news story splashed across mainstream media about an elite escort agency in Las Vegas, people were shocked to learn there was a tiny mastermind behind the company a small town girl from Oregon named Jami Rodman went by the pseudonym Haley Heston.

§ Meet the secret society of high-end escorts and the men who hire them.

§ Discover the highly lucrative business of sex as Rodman reveals the hidden websites and layers of complex networking to satisfy man s endless desire for sex.

Timed with the 2007 collapse, Vegas cultivated a new, unprecedented class of call girls ... ones with brains, beauty and savvy. Together with her agency, they cleaned up the soiled reputation of prostitution in Las Vegas.

Weathering competition from desperate, violent, and successful pimps and madams, hosting swanky parties, and serving clients in cities that spanned the globe, her agency ruled the oldest profession for several years until one of her star escorts, Olympian Suzy Favor Hamilton, canceled on a jealous and disgruntled client ... he wrote an email at 2 AM to the online Smoking Gun. Haley Heston, the Las Vegas Madam, was outed.

The Las Vegas Madam is a provocative memoir of one girl s journey into prostitution and how quickly a fast-paced life built a wedge between her and the very thing she was seeking to begin with love, friendship and meaning. She replaces loneliness with companionship, both as a hired prostitute and recreationally.

In a desperate attempt to bond with others, to be liked, fit in, to escape an oppressive religion, and push the crushing void of emptiness aside, she tries to fill it with sex, drugs, relationships, money and power. As Jami, aka Haley Heston, rose from a popular call girl into a powerful madam, Rodman discovered most people she met in the sex industry were there for similar reasons: loneliness, isolation from the world around them, and to fill needs that weren’t met elsewhere. She realized she was traveling down a similar path as her clients, and decides to make changes - to make a difference for them.

Inside was a new stronger self who made friends with the old. There were opportunities to find meaning, and provide the same to those around her. It was when she brought those two people together that she learns to love again, have compassion for her clients and herself, and understand what brought her there to begin with.

The Las Vegas Madam is glittery, fast-paced and damn sexy. Mixing a quintessential cocktail of erotic pleasure, money and hot women, meet the secret society of high-end escorts and the men who hire them for companionship. You will never think of the city of Las Vegas, escorts and call girls as you have before you read this book. Yes, 50 Shades of Grey would turn 50 Shades of Crimson.

Jami Rodman

2 books30 followers
Jami Rodman is a writer with an unabashed approach to sexuality and relationships. She has a background in cultural anthropology and sociology, but her stories really come alive when she recounts her last decade of adventures, first as an elite escort and then as the high-powered Las Vegas Madam.

Her memoir, The Las Vegas Madam: The Escorts, the Clients, the Truth, is the story of a young woman who brazenly took a fork in the road, moved to Las Vegas, and found herself deep in the throes of Sin City. She was a world away from her small town Christian upbringing. In a city where the most flamboyant lifestyles reap success, she became a escort then a successful madam. She became immersed in the underground world of sex – prostitutes, porn stars, pimps, madams and men from around the world. They all spilled their secrets, and she listened.

Spirited and stirring, her story is candidly narrated. The Las Vegas Madam: The Escorts, the Clients, the Truth is the gritty story of a cheeky young woman and her quest for adventure in a deeply misunderstood lifestyle.

APRIL Claitarary Genius book Challenge: Read a biography or memoir.
Good Reads 'Reading Without Walls' Challenge #2 Read a book about a topic you don't know much about.
Audio version. 2.5 stars. I should disclose I'm a tough sell being I dislike (in general) memoirs &/or biographies. This is a mindless "read".

First, let me start by saying, I hate nonfiction. Most of the time, I find it boring and cannot keep my attention for more than a few seconds before I start rolling my eyes and ultimately putting it down.

I can't say that about this book. While yes, it took me a little longer to read because I just didn't have the time or concentration to sit and get it done...I was completely enthralled by this book. I was sucked in from the beginning, and yes, it has some slow parts, but overall I was beyond fascinated by Jami's (aka Haley's) story.

With a very conservative upbringing and her choices to delve into the seediest parts of the underworld, I wanted nothing more than to read more of what she was telling. This memoir is everything I hoped it would be. It's more than just a recant of Jami's/Haley's life as a prostitute and madam, but about the dealings of escorts in Sin City. A Vegas nightlife that looks glamorous; but in all actuality is just as rough as any other high-profile lifestyle. There are trade offs to expensive clothes, trips around the world, and VIP service. There are expectations that go above and beyond companionship...and in this book, we get a front-row seat to all of it.

It's fascinating, and completely riveting. The recounts of early years, how and why she made the decisions she made, the ultimate sacrifices and thoughts regarding her successes and failures...this raw and unconventional recollection of Haley Heston and her life is one I will recommend to anyone interested in a fresh approach to nonfiction. This is more than just a boring tale about how a small-town woman's life evolved...this is deeper than just one person's experience. This is a lifestyle, a world that interacts with everyday people, yet lives and breathes in an underground dimension all its own.

Welcome to the other side of Vegas, prostitution, and paying for the time of a beautiful woman.

There is a level of detail in some parts of this that I could’ve lived without. I have so much respect for sex workers. She shoulda been charging wayyyyy more than she was for some of this shit.

** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **

Oh Wow..there was a lot I liked about this story...it wasn't sugar coated...it was accurate...This is my first memoir, I am usually a fiction fan...this reads like fiction ans was quite enjoyable...Jami was very brave to tell this story...and I commend Teri for being her voice..they both did an excellent job!

This whole book moved me...I am very familiar with this subject...I know how this business affects people, both the good and the bad...I saw Jami's journey as Haley going from good to bad in cycles..both as an escort and madam...I wanted to almost reach into this book and help her...to stop her at certain points...and I am so proud she came out ok...I like how she said, I am STILL a good person...because she IS!

Oh what a journey this book was for me, I sit here a little choked up, because I know what Jami went through, and I am so so proud and relieved for her! This is a very accurate and good retelling of this lifestyle...Teri did an EXCELLENT JOB, and she had GREAT material to work with...This is my first memoir, and I loved it...I will be looking into listening to more, and would appreciate some recommends...If you are hesitant about this story, dont be..its so well worth your time...I could not put it down and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

One last thing..DO NOT Listen to this book with the intention of judging these women...This is the oldest profession out there..and it's difficult and very personal... it is also a very large part of our society, listen with an open mind please! THANK YOU!

This book was very interesting from a sociological and a feminist perspective. Our society tends to draw lines and anything gray is frown upon and yet, if we acted what we preached these professions would not exist. I do like that this isn't one of those "woah is me.... my poor defenseless me...I need you to feel bad for me" kind of book, the author is very adamant about wanting to enter this profession from the beginning. The moral of the story is basically that everything comes at a price and there is no such thing as easy money.

I find this to be a book men should also read, so they can see sex from a female's perspective. Just because this is a memoir don't expect G-Rated language, it is about escorting after all.
Even for women who have tried online dating and have been searching for "the one" you still meet some of the creeps and gross men the author describes. In essence gross men are everywhere, people in any profession will always want to screw you (pun intended) and the bottom line is that knowing yourself and your worth is the most valuable asset any person can have.

A candid and revealing memoir of life as an escort and Las Vegas Madam.

Jami Rodman, aka Haley Heston was a small town girl who was lured by the adventure and glamour of Las Vegas and there slowly builds up her life as an escort. Amids the parties, drugs and her experiences she tell the ins and outs of her life as a sexworker and later Madam in the City of Sin. Her story is both sad and empowering, as she tells her story. The loneliness, the joy, the danger and all the other things you might expect and plenty you might not expect.

I found this to be a very interesting and very informative memoir. Jami's story is one of explicit content and a provocative subject rarely tackled without the context of preaching and judgmental attitudes. She doesn't cover-up the bad parts, but doesn't shy away from telling the part where her work made her feel strong and alive and helped people.

Don't judge. Read for yourself and form your own opinion, it's all there to read.

This is the truth as told by Jami Rodman about her Vegas life as a call girl turned Madam. I found this book interesting, graphic (not too bad), but not exciting. I was intrigued to listen to entire book though. It is as interesting as any biography would be and I liked it as a book. I never realized how much work went into being a call girl (prostitute), nor did I realize just how dangerous and competitive it is. This book is a real eye opener. I also feel this book is a must read by any young person who thinks he/she can run away from home and make it on their own. Definitely food for thought.

The author, Jami Rodman did a wonderful job writing this book. The courage it had to take to put it all in print for 1) To let people know & 2) To tell the truth for those close to her is amazing (just my opinion). Ms Rodman turned the oldest profession into a science. The narrator, Teri Schnaubelt delivers a flawless reading to us with many different voice, accents and so on. Good job ladies!

I received this audio book as a gift in exchange for a honest review.

Inexplicably slated for a summer release, Brian DePalma's return to thrillers in 1992 had its work cut out, following the commercially disappointing THE BONFIRE OF THE VANITIES. RAISING CAIN, a psychological suspense flick, paired DePalma with John Lithgow for a third time, requiring the latter to play a character with multiple personalities, going from deceptive to deranged and demented in a matter of 88 minutes. Taking heed of this multiple personality model while certainly not going to these extremes and perhaps clinical ends, THE LAS VEGAS MADAM is the tale of a religious girl from small-town Oregon who landed dead center in Sin City and turned her life and the town upside down. Half Harlequin steam, half Hooking 101, THE LAS VEGAS MADAM boldly walks the line between smut, memoir, and expose, sunbathing in the neon, con, and glitz of Las Vegas.

Armed with an Associates degree in cultural anthropology, birthmarks in all the wrong places and a bra size that wasn't the right letter of the alphabet, THE LAS VEGAS MADAM jumps through all the requisite repressed youth, forced religiosity, and troubled teen hoops, going straight from Coos Bay, OR to Las Vegas, NV, passes GO and collects her two hundred dollars. Vegas, of course, gave the author perspective, opened her eyes to the possibilities, and morphed from religious Oregon girl Jami Rodman into world weary and savvy Hayley Heston. A woman who sees herself as wielding a masters degree in dating men and women, fulfilling her drive for adventure, fun, and something to make her feel alive. Anything to improve her financial situation and achieve her goals, whatever those might be. In a world barely ten years into the new millennium, way before OnlyFans, escorting was the best way for Hayley to take advantage of the world's longest-running con game, sex. Pre-curser for 'the life', Hayley ran the gamut of Sin City roles for the nubile, waitress, server, pole dancer, and independent contractor. Taking cues from SCARFACE, THE LAS VEGAS MADAM copes with the growing pains of the Las Vegas underbelly with drugs and alcohol, a welcome crutch, courage, and cordial to numb the anxiety, awkwardness, disgust, and dreariness of the human condition that she interacted with. Being high kept the real world at bay, but how long before she'd lose touch with reality and the consequences would be irreversible, making her life again unsatisfying? Bright lights, big city--what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

Apparently on a downward spiral, Hayley Heston spend money as fast as she made it, filling a void in her life, the lack of meaningful relationships and purpose. Not knowing the value of a dollar, she wanted to find something meaningful to do with her life, and escorting apparently wasn't it? Already familiar with running an art business, is determined to improve the business for both providers and customers, because in Las Vegas, call agencies and pimps dominated the largest bracket of customers--unsuspecting tourists. As such, there are essential two types of escorts and agencies--honest and dishonest, and Hayley Heston knew that if she'd put in the hours, take risks, spend money on marketing, and be diligent with customer service, she'd be like BILLY BATHGATE...she'd go right to the top. Explaining about professional pictures, real models, solid branding and marketing techniques, as well as excellent customer service, THE LAS VEGAS MADAM seemingly slips into the realm of a light Harvard Business Case. However, in glorious SEINFELD fashion, THE LAS VEGAS MADAM yada yadas over the nitty gritty of running a business and voila, Hayley and her comets were one of the top boutique firms in Las Vegas and across the nation in just three short years. What's remarkable is that for all the personal and financial freedom she rejoices in, there is an awful lot of talk of meeting the right guy, falling in love, getting married and not working. All in all, she never lost the inner person looking for acceptance, belonging, and desperate to be liked.

THE LAS VEGAS MADAM lands comfortably in the middle, somewhere out of reach of either a glowing commendation of the courage and strength of sex workers and a theology infused rant against the industry. If you're reading this for research about or how to get into the industry, the offering is rather slim. If ya look deep you might find a sign post and that those streets are paved with gold. stating that sex is everywhere in Sin City, THE LAS VEGAS MADAM reinforces that prostitution is against the law everywhere in the US except for 12 counties in Nevada, escorting is hard to break away from, and stripping is a cut-throat and ruthless business. The cover boldly states "The Escorts, the Clients, the Truth," yet the narrative is nowhere near shining a bright light on the underground world of prostitution, and is rather a telling of Jami Rodman's path, sometimes veering deep into sexual detail of her encounters. Nonetheless, LAS VEGAS MADAM is a carnal curiosity specialist's what's what, detailing bait and switch, upsell, popcorn pimp, Jonas Pimps, trick rolling, boyfriend pimps, and takes the reader through the advantages and disadvantages of working with the different kinds of Macks. If you seek escape from yourself, the world, expectations, responsibilities, religion, THE LAS VEGAS MADAM will acquaint you with the fleeting pleasures of the carnal urge in the Mecca of the escort world. Pretty women and smart men flock to the city convinced their looks and brains will bring Vegas to its knees, but it never happens. Vegas remains undefeated. From the comfort of your favorite reading place, THE LAS VEGAS MADAM is your ticket to experience the glitz, rush, and glamor of the intoxicating fast Vegas lifestyle. Roll the dice and take your chances.

Usually books like this are about "poor me, I was forced...I was drugged...I wasn't responsible for my actions" -- this is totally the opposite. Which is what makes it FASCINATING. The author owns it...all. And, with a background in psychology and sociology, she brings a richness to what could be tawdry voyerism ...don't get me wrong. PLENTY of sex. But, also the clear-eyed first-person account of someone who is quite self-aware and is unapologetic...even more, has no "victim" mentality.

She is clearly a staunch supporter of squelching human trafficking, which makes up 60% of the sex industry according to statistics in her book. But, she doesn't claim to be in that category. And, she makes a case for doing everything humanly possible to save these girls.

The second paragraph of this review may seem strange, but after you read the book, you'll understand.

A fascinating tour inside the world of an escort. Haley/Jami took us from the bottom to the top and back to the bottom again. Possibly the most fun book I've read all year, it's filled with sex, drugs, money, with a little weird and creepy thrown in. She shows us how great escort money can be and the temptations that come with it. She held nothing back, even her unfortunate rape incident by strange looking club-goers was included.

She explained the different levels of escorts, types of pimps (popcorn, jonas, etc), types of clients with some psychological profiles thrown in. All very fascinating.

This book is also filled with great ideas to spice up your sex life: BDSM, role-playing, oral techniques that will have you sprinting to try out at the next chance you get.

This book is HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! People keep saying it will make 50 Shades of Grey readers blush, and that is definitely true! This is a true life story of the secret society of escorts told by THE infamous Las Vegas Madam herself (made most popular after hiring Olympian Suzy Favor Hamilton). On top of it being a sexy read, you're going to get insight into the ins and outs of the business, the personalities of the Johns, and the book ends with Jami giving her brilliant opinion on the real issues of today with the sex industry - not what most people choose to focus on.

The Las Vegas Madam is an honest look at the escort trade in Sin City. Jami has lived the life of a sex worker from a number of angles, and is not shy about "kissing and telling" certain parts of it. She makes no excuses for her lifestyle and relates events in a matter of fact tone. I actually felt sorry for her being on the other side of the Suzy Favor-Hamilton story and having to deal with the fallout, which she handles without coming across as vindictive or mean. Good read for those who are interested.

She certainly has lived an interesting life and the book is entertaining in that respect. But it's repetitive and she's self-important - unable to see the harm she caused to people. Apparently prostitution and cheating is fine, because if she wasn't doing it, someone else would be. That's not really how morality works. Also the Epilogue was truly horrid.

I love a memoir. I love a memoir about someone’s life that is entirely different from my own experience.

I did not care for this book. She has an interesting story to tell. It would have been more effective if her editor would have helped her eliminate 150 pages of gratuitous sex.

Gut-wrenching, fascinating, honest, disturbing and profoundly sad in places, this book left me with a whole new perspective of the sex industry. How the girls and women end up in this situation, how some are victims and some have chosen the industry, to begin with, and how the sex trade grinds people down psychologically and physically is powerful. I'll never think "prostitute" again, I'll always think, "victim of the sex trade." The graphic information about what these johns (from all walks of life!!!) do behind closed doors to these girls and women made me want to weep. Not exactly a spoiler, but intriguing to me, is how the book allows that some of the men are profoundly lonely - especially the ones who spend $1,000/hour.

This also lays open the business strategies of the sex industry as well as what happens to the individuals, in the first-person account by Jami Rodman.

I've given this book to several male friends as well as my husband and each has come away with wider eyes. As did I.

Unflinchingly raw. Read it. Go vicariously into a world in which you wouldn't want to live.

Real Score: 4.25

Pros: Quite graphic, honest and raw which I appreciated. Glad this is my 7th or so book on SW, as in my opinion, it is not for beginners LOL. I enjoyed it but this is a bit of a niche reading interest of mine. I appreciated her willingness to go a bit beyond the comfort zone and really “go there” in her memoir. The graphic nature and shock value of going there may be what turns others off but I was impressed by it— takes guts.

Cons: I found some over her “I’m a good person, friend, and doing a good service to everyone” a bit grating by the end. Personally, I found her far more likable the first 60% of the book than the last 40% where she rebrands as Madam Save a Hoe.

Aside from being seriously X rated, the book was sort of all over the place and left without a real ending to her story. If you're looking for really graphic, make you uncomfortable the entire time book then this is for you. If you're looking for more of a story line per-say, this isn't it.
It does make you think about Vegas in a whole new light....

I can't rate someones life but I can rate a book which they wrote about themself.
This story for me always was between 3-4 (i wish I could give 0.5 star). It was interesting to read and understand meaning of escort. But oh man soo much information was repeated over and over. In the end I just started skipping some scenes and chapters.
In general I liked it.

Very insightful memoir

To read suzy favor Hamilton’s book “fast girl” and then this book really helped to understand the uniqueness of the authors business as a madam. Loved this book and it’s honesty about morality and today’s age of prostitution.

Smart and well-written memoir of a small town woman’s journey in the Las Vegas sex scene. It focuses a bit more on the management and lifestyle associated with adult work though there are definitely some steamy sex scenes interspersed. Fascinating story and recommended.
