SOMETIMES, THE COST OF IMMORTALITY IS TOO HIGH…

The year is 1775, and the first rumblings of the American Revolution are only just being felt. But the War for Independence may be over before it even begins. When General George Washington learns of a daring expedition by British troops to discover a place of ultimate power—and the key to immortality itself—he knows that to salvage the war effort, his forces must get there first.

And to find the legend, Washington must employ a legend. Rumors of an ageless pirate who has haunted the high seas for more than a century abound. General Washington commissions an expedition to find and hire the immortal pirate, Lanme Wa—the Sea King—who has been stretched to the point of breaking, and who wants nothing more than to be left alone.

Their mission will not be easy. In a Caribbean world filled with voodoo, giant pythons, mischievous spirits and an army of mindless creatures who could live for millennia, the privateers of the Continental Navy might have bitten off more than they can chew.

Jack Sigler, an immortal Special Ops soldier stuck in the past, forced to live through thousands of years of history to return to his family in the present, is back in this second Continuum thriller from Jeremy Robinson and J. Kent Holloway, who once again boldly re-imagine history.

I loved this second book of the continuum series. There was so much to this it had me gripped from the word go. I also would have loved to known more about what happened to get Jack here. There is so much eluded to but not explained that I really wanted to learn more about this time in Jack's life. Wonderful read.

I just listened to this again, and I still love this story. There is so much content in this shorter book, which gives us non-stop action! Pirates, voodoo, history, science, and a bunch of fun are just some of the elements that make up this entertaining book. Time-traveling Jack Sigler is the main character in this story and I cannot wait to see what his next adventure holds in store for him. I loved this book from start to finish, and what a great finish it was.

Robinson got me good. Just when I figure I know how the storyline is going.. BAM.. the man takes you on a left turn and you're running to catch up and figure out what happened! The plot is superb! I love the female voodoo mistress character.. she is everything you envision with a New Orleans Voodoo queen! She talks the soldiers who are on a quest to find the fountain of youth into awakening an "ancient" pirate who has been "sleeping" for over a century. What the poor sailors don't know.. she has her own wants and desires and everything she does is solely for her own purposes!

I love the method she used to "wake" the pirate! Now, that was pure devilish fun! I am trying so hard not to write spoilers. If you love history.. especially American history.. you really DO want to read this book. Robinson's grasp of American history is phenomenal. I love the "twist" he pulls on the readers. I promise.. you will NOT see it coming! And, once it happens.. you'll be like me.. and want to see this one turned into a movie!

Who's the Patriot? Well, the pirate for one.. and the second person.. ahhhhhh.. now, that's the kicker! Good luck.. you will NOT figure it out until it's literally spelled out for you! No reading ahead. It's the perfect novelette for a lonnnnnnng winter or fall weekend!

Patriot is the next novella in the Jack Sigler Continuum series by Jeremy Robinson. It is co-authored by J. Kent Holloway.

Jack has been hibernating for a century. Now his country needs him. He is awakened at a critical time in the formation of the United States. A scientist has determined he is the only one who can successfully lead an expedition into the wilds of Florida to look for a weapon that will help the budding nation defeat the British. Jack battles sharks, the British and strange tree creatures.

I was disappointed that I was about half way through the short story before Jack actually makes an appearance. When he wakes he isn’t the Jack that he was. However, the scientist helps him back to himself.

This is a fast moving story, it took me less than six hours to read. Then I read it again. Pick it up and have an adventure with Jack Sigler.

Patriot, the second in the Continuum Series of Jack Sigler books, is a wonderful follow up to Guardian, also by Jeremy Robinson and J. Kent Holloway, and I can’t wait for another one! If you are new to Chess Team books, you won’t want to start with this one! Start with Prime or Pulse and then check them all out! It is a fantastic series! Otherwise, if you are caught up and have also read Guardian, this book is a great addition to the Continuum storyline, and you will definitely like it. I’m really enjoying this offshoot series, myself, and I hope Mr. Robinson and Mr. Holloway keep it going!

Fans of the Jack Sigler/ Chess Team Thrillers will love this book, another instalment of Jack's time in the past and this one is a little darker than I first expected but it makes complete sense as to why and adds to the enjoyment. Its a quick read that takes the reader on a heck of a wild ride. Jeremy Robinson and J. Kent Holloway make a fun writing duo and I look forward to any book that they collaborate on.

I absolutely loved this book It is part of a series so you may want to read the earlier ones first. Like all other of Jeremy Robinson's books, it is full of adventure and mayhem. I didn't want to put it down.

Can you imagine living for centuries - and meeting some of the most famous characters and getting to interact with them. It is mind boggling.

This writing duo is fabulous. The story is so seamless that it is hard to believe that 2 authors are writing it.

I did receive a free copy of this for an honest review.

This is the second Continuum novella, and I think Robinson and Holloway are doing a fantastic job with these! There are so many possibilities with King’s adventures in the past, and they delve into a bit darker territory with King and they pull it off. His adventures as a legendary pirate precede him in this installment, and he is summoned with a task by General Washington before the birth of our country. If you’re a fan of the Chess Team Series, you’ll enjoy King’s adventures as he rises from the grave and fights more unspeakable evils.

Holy Mackerel what a ride!

Robinson and Holloway make an amazing team. The story stands on its own,but I would strongly recommend reading the Chess Team series first. You won't be disappointed.

Well written and a very tight story. Adventure and mystery abound. Voodoo and history collide with some incredibly notable characters. Can't wait to see what happens next!

I love these stories!!

I have to admit, I read these 3 novellas in the order in which they occurred in history, not in which they were published. That doesn’t matter, though, because they can be read in any order, as they are just “slices” of the adventures JS experienced during his millennia-long journey through history. I am so glad that these stories were written to relate some of these adventures, and very much hope that there will be more forthcoming in the future!

This novella was pretty interesting, and much better than the other one I read in the series. It had a bit more suspense. I liked the historic parts and the tie in to the Fountain of Youth was interesting.

Wow what a great read! Jeremy Robinson never disappoints in his stories, they are amazing, fast-paced, heart-pounding tales that I can't put down. Patriot is book 2 of the Jack Sigler Continuum, and it has everything - pirates, voodoo, time travel, monsters, and at the heart of it our hero, Jack Sigler aka King. I loved this book, and am immediately going to read the next in the series.

Wildly insane!!

Jack Ziegler stuck in The past comes across major historical figure but also comes face to face with some of the most insane psychotic creatures in his life. Jeremy Robinson at his best with help. Of course. Highly recommended!

We see more of the stress “time” is putting on Jack as he passes thru the years. Fun to see some historical figures interact with him in this book.

Yes, it is true: I wasn't a big fan of the previous Sigler Continuum experiment. While Guardian in at of itself wasn't a horrible read, it just didn't click with me. I can't quite put my finger on it, but whatever the case, the story left me a little disappointed and unimpressed.

Patriot, however, fixes a lot of the things that Guardian got wrong.

First, the story feels richer and more detailed. It's definitely a different direction from Sigler's exploits with the Chess Team and even the previous book in this series, but I actually enjoyed the path Robinson and Halloway chose for their main protagonist. Plus, Sigler's condition is explained further in depth, making his struggle with immortality that much darker and the plot, albeit a small rip-off of Pirates of the Caribbean in some parts, grabbed me and held my attention. Perhaps it was the historical background and the key players, or maybe it's because I've never really read anything set in this time period.

Whatever the case, this novella certainly renewed my hope in this series. And more importantly, keeps me wondering just how the hell these guys are going to top themselves in the next one.

Jeremy Robinson never fails to entertain, and when you combine him with J Kent Holloway, you have a guaranteed winner! In the second of the Jack Sigler Continuum books, we meet a different Jack. However, given that he has lived on the edge of death for the past 100 or so years, it's not really a surprise. Called on by George Washington himself, Jack is tasked to help find the legend of immortality.

I love this series (and anything to do with the Chess Team, if I'm being honest), but I'm also always slightly melancholic for Jack's predicament. Full of action and suspense, thrills and spills, this is another winner!

And if you're a fan of Mr Holloway's Dark Hollows series, you might just notice a cameo :)

Another solid entry in the tales of Jack Sigler's journey through time. In this one, we first encounter a group of Americans searching for a treasure that can secure the fledgling United States of America in their war against their British masters. Soon enough, Jack Sigler shows up and the real mission is revealed. Good mystery, unique monsters, and the always great writing makes this yet another tale from Robinson (this time with Holloway) that you NEED to read.

Second outing for Jack 'King' Sigler, as he journeys back through time. This time after trying to sleep his way back to the present he his drawn into looking for the fountain of youth. Slow start, as King only comes into the story about a third through, but picks up as King struggles with life in the past and tries to keep a prominent figure alive to fulfil his destiny.

Glimpse of the Past

I really enjoy reading about King's adventures while in the past. This book was fast paced and action packed. It was interesting to learn about how all the years passing affected King. I wondered if he had difficulty remembering while living so long. Can't wait for the next adventure.

Great addition to the chess team book

Loved the premise of this book, voodoo, pirates and an ancient force waiting for its chance. Not predictable as many other books but a pleasant voyage. Recommended
