The chemistry between Oxford University students Evelyn Lakewood and Jared Calmburry was immediate. From the author of The Concealed comes the thrilling conclusion to the Lakewood Series.

The thoroughly enjoyed part 2. I wish that part 3 were coming soon. :( Some of the characters had little paragraphs on themselves. I for one wondered about the back story of some of the characters so that was very nice. :)
A book about Camelot's descendants? What could be more fun? Not this book.
I received a free copy in exchange for a review. In some ways this review isn't fair because I never read the first book but I can only review what I know. This is not a stand alone book. This book does not reintroduce any of the characters--and there is a huge cast. This book does not recap any of the former plot. This book does not follow any of the traditional Arthurian legends.
Evelyn, a descendent of Nimue , is trying to rescue her boyfriend Jared, a descendent of Merlin, from Morgana and her zombie horde. (Ooops--damnati, the only interesting but sadly understated part of the story.) He is being held in the most boring version of Avalon I have ever read.
I couldn't figure out how magic was supposed to work. Everyone seemed to go from all too powerful to all too unpowerful. There is also a magical being, Old Nick, who appears towards the end of the book who doesn't really fit in the story.
Most of the story is from Evelyn's point of view except one odd chapter where Jared gives a nauseating reformed bad boy speech, Morgana who is barely a character gives her backstory and a third character appears but I won't explain it because of spoilers.
This just wasn't Arthurian enough to keep my interest.
I thought this was a fantastic continuation of the Lakewood Series. The only thing that threw me a little was the story perspective changed in a couple of chapters. The first book and most of the second is told from Evelyn's perspective, however, in book 2 there are a couple of chapters told by other characters. I get why the author did it, as what was being told was story you needed and wanted as the reader, but Evelyn wasn't involved in those situations and it wouldn't work if she was added in. But when you start reading those chapter you don't realize it's not Evelyn until you are a few sentences in, so it throws you a little. Other than that, I loved it and I really hope a 3rd book is in the works! There are so many directions this series can take and I am here for them all!
Book 1 (The Concealed) and this book should have been combined into one book in my opinion. There was extra details to the story that could have been shortened. In The Concealed we had all our character development. This book just seemed like the action scenes to go with it. While I enjoy books in a series, this just seemed stretched out a little more than I appreciated. That said: I really enjoyed these books and the story. I enjoyed Evelyn and Jared's love story. I loved Evelyn and Sally's friendship and wished this book had more Sally in it. I loved how Evelyn became more confident and such a strong character how the story went on.
Different from the first book in the series, this one took on more of a fantasy role. I still enjoyed this book just not as much as the first instalment, in this book I found the main character spoiled and selfish, especially during the latter half of the book. I also found the ending to be quite rushed, like when you only half half an hour to complete an exam paper and you have to finish your essay and provide the conclusion. There is opening for another instalment, however, I feel the story should end where it was left.
I chose the first book in this series on a whim from kindle unlimited. I am so glad I did. The story grabbed me immediately and I had a hard time putting it down. When I finished it I was delighted to find the second book and immediately read it also. This rating is for both books in the series and I truly hope there will be more. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys paranormal stories. I have always enjoyed reading about legendary characters like King Arthur and Merlin. I hated reaching the end.
After waiting a year for this book, I expected a well crafted conclusion. 60% of this story is really good but the end seemed rushed. It seemed a if some story lines were just clipped and other characters just left in fulfilled. I am still glad I read it and I do like the main characters.
I absolutely loved the first of the series, so much so that I pre-ordered this and had to wait several months to read it! The story has to do with Merlin's descendants, but as opposed to the first book, this one didn't suck me in quite as much.

Absolutely fantastic! I have an audio bilingual though that this won't be the last installment (despite the blurb stating so). Seems a bit open for more at the end even though the conclusion is still concludey. Lol ^=^ very splendid series!
While i really loved the concept of this book I have to hate the ending! Honestly I was lost in a couple of crucial parts and had to reread (which I didn’t mind). It could’ve been better is all I’m saying. But it was still a very good book, just not excellent
Loved this story! Such a great new avenue for the paranormal romance genera. I want more of Evelyn and Jared's story. In my mind they live happily restoring Avalon to is former glory. I will happily read any books to come by this author.
I have always loved stories about Merlin, King Arthur, the knights of the round table, Lady of the Lake. The 2 books in this series didn't disappoint. I have to admit i am sad they have come to an end. Well worth reading.
While Everlyn is determined to find Jared and save him from Morgana, she must return to Avolon. It is war between good and evil and Everlyn is willing to do whatever it takes to see that light and love win out. She will endure and find more of herself in order to save the love of her life.
This novel was more fast paced than the first but I loved to see the continuation and growth of the realationships between the characters. Instead of Jared saving Evelyn it’s now Evelyn’s turn to save Jared.
I thoroughly enjoyed this series. It added a new twist to one of my favorite stories as a youth. I fell in love with Camelot when I was first introduced to it. The Lakewood series almost seems like a sequel rather than separate fantasy.
I have enjoyed the story line. I don't have much time to read. When I get time to read I enjoy a story that pulls you in and let's to "forget" for awhile
As far as sequels go, this book isn’t anything stellar but it’s an easy read with an interesting story line. It was hard to put down and I finished within a couple of days.
I loved this book. I read the first one. I got lost in the story with the characters. The second one is even better. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.
Although I am not a fan of YA fantasy, I found this book interesting enough to finish it. I have not read the first installment, however this book was easy to follow and filled in enough of the first book to make it all the characters and backstory understandable.
The story revolves around Evelyn, the last decedent of the Lady of the Lake; remember the Arthur Legend. Evelyn quest is to find her love Jared who has been taken by Morgana to Avalon. Jared made a pack with Morgana in order to save Evelyn’s life, a pack which if broken forfeits his life. Morgana is power hungry. Nothing or no one will get in her way of obtaining all magical power.
Evelyn with the help of friends and some foes comes up with a plan to enter Avalon and hopefully rescue Jared. However, nothing is that simple. Evelyn encounters, evil creatures created by Morgana, placing obstacles in her path, but she also encounters ‘friendlies’ who help her along the way. Along Evelyn’s journey she finds out about her past, who killed her parents and sister and which of her friends betrays her. She also finds own power.
I recommend this book to anyone who loves fantasy.
First I would like to state that I received this book through the Goodreads giveaway in exchange for an honest review. I would like to thank the author for giving me this opportunity and honor in being able to read this book. This book was a very interesting read. I have not read any of her books before but will be now. The authors writing style kept you interested from the first chapter to the very last. It pulls you in quickly and keeps you hooked wanting to read and find out more. I would recommend this to anyone. This book is incredible. A great read!
