Clan Conroy Brides #2

Alphonso's Baby

Rate this book
Bear shifter Alphonso shunned his mate to protect her from his dark past... but when he discovers her six month old baby is his, will he take the risk in order to raise their child?
Always looking over his shoulder for enemies, Alphonso pushed curvy Tamar away after their one, blazing hot night together. "I'm not relationship material, Tam. Don't get stars in your eyes." Only that one night resulted in a secret child, a beautiful baby girl Tamar has been hiding in plain sight for six months. Waiting patiently for him to see the goshdarnit light already. When he discovers her deception, Alphonso knows he has a choice to make. Continue to allow his past to dictate his future, or take a chance on true love and family?

Tamar isn't certain her childhood love Al will ever see reason- she knows he did some bad stuff. Especially when that bad stuff shows up in the form of a curvy, exotic ex-girlfriend looking for protection. Tamar isn't going to roll over and play dead, though. She's Head Sow in these parts and no one- not the mysterious beauty, not her father's disapproval, and certainly not the enemies waiting in the shadows to strike- are going to claim what belongs to her without a bloody fight.

Alphonso's Baby is the second paranormal bear shifter standalone romance in the Clan Conroy Brides series. If you enjoy emotional, fast paced second chance romance with broody, protective Alpha males and feisty BBW, then this is the story for you. Includes a bonus epilogue double wedding scene.

Emma is a Black/white Muslim American mom of five, ages 6-22, in her mid-forties just trying to live her best life…which usually includes coffee, wine, and an unfortunate habit of one-clicking any pretty special edition that winds up in her feed. (If you DM it, she will come.)

She likes K-pop (#army, #moa) cultivation dramas (Till the End of the Moon,) precioussss silence, and collects more makeup than she uses.

She bends knee to Michelle Sagara West, Anne Bishop, N.K. Jemisin, Grace Draven, J.D. Robb, and Nalini Singh—a nod to Sanderson, Goodkind, Eddings, McCaffrey, and McKinley.

If you are looking for romantic epic fantasy set in complex, diverse, sex positive worlds with morally gray societies, powerful anti-heroes with THAD energy, multi-racial heroines at least 35—if not 350—coming into power, and a central theme of family, both dysfunctional and supportive, then you will binge her stories..

I got this story for free in exchange for an honest review. I was pleasantly surprised by this story. Part of it reminded me of my own life. I could most definitely identify with the earlier part of the story describing Tamar’s life having grown up in a devoutly religious home only to wind up young and pregnant. I can identify with being one of the few Black people somewhere and always feeling like I’m under someone’s microscope and loving someone for nearly as long as I can remember. As a BBW Black woman with natural hair, I loved the way that the author wrote descriptions of her hair and body that I could relate to. I don’t often see myself in many of the characters I read about, but I definitely could with Tamar. I liked the pace in which this story moved and that it raised questions that made me want to read more of the story and to seek out stories related to the other characters. I look forward to reading more from this author since I’m a fan of series books. I like standalone stories and novels, but series just help you connect to the characters more, at least they do for me and these are people and characters I definitely want to learn more about!

I actually read this book because I had previously read "The Mountain King" by the same author and wanted to see if I liked her other, more established series more. Long story short - I didn't really. This book was fine. It was a quick, light read, but I can tell it will be one of those books that you read and then have to really think hard to remember any details about it later on.

I have to say: this book has what I consider to be the most damaging trend in romance novels, and it effected my perception. Any novel where the men can stick their dick into whatever they want but the women must remain virginal and pure just really gets my back up. I feel like it's perpetuating that mentality in our society by reflecting it in our fantasy.

If you're looking for a book with female characters that are heavy on sex and light on brains, and male characters that are full of weirdly antiquated misogyny... here it is.

Now, I’m a sucker for a second chance so that immediately softened my heart towards Tamar and Alphonso. I didn’t entirely understand their dynamic though. She’s strong and fierce and independent while he seems to be a domineering jerk. I saw lots of changes in their characters, but not quite the ones I wanted to see. I really enjoyed all the mystery and intrigue that fill this book. I just really would have like to see more answers to all the questions brought up by this story. I’m still curious about the rest of Clan Conroy and there’s questions I want answers to, so I’ll keep reading more of the series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through Booksprout as part of the box set.

Another great read. It follows along with Liams Bride and keeps moving forward. This one is about Alphonso learning of his daughter and trying to woo Tamar into becoming his wife...How's that working out? You gotta read it to enjoy it, and if you didn't read Liams Bride, Must read first :-) Or not, but you may get lost if you don't :-)

Alphonso's Baby

Tamar is a single mother. She had a one night stand with a biker in Seattle. She works for Alphonso who has opened a bar that serves food. He came from Seattle. Meredith is visiting Tamar and playing with Tamar's baby. Alphonso realizes the baby girl is his daughter. Sparks fly. Excellent writing.

Read it now...

Read this book now and don't blame me if you miss sleep to finish it. Only the second book, by this author, that I have read and can not wait to read the next one. Loved this story and didn't want it end, wanted more. This book has romance, steaminess, mystery, suspense, and some action. I would definitely recommend this book.

Have to go read the next one now...

Best friends and forever lovers

Ok, I cried, but happy tears! Being a bear, having a one night stand with your best friend and true love is hard on the heart. But then finding out she has had your child without you knowing, can be startling. Go on a great adventure with Tamar and Alphonso, where their past and future collides and they prove love conquers all!

Her baby’s papa bear

Alphonso sure let his past get him into a pickle. Unfortunately the past can ruin your future if you let it. I love the way the author made him work for his HEA. I would have wished Tamar was a little slower at forgiveness, but it kept the story moving and interesting. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the next one in the series.

This cover doesn't do this book any justice what so ever.

I think this is a really good read and I enjoyed the story. I'm not completely sold on this writing style I can't put my finger on it.

Different strokes for different folks.
The first book in this series had an interesting storyline and was a very good free read, and even though it was a cheap price, this follow up book was ridiculous. I had such high hopes for this next book from the blurb and the first book and from reading the reviews, I thought it was a good purchase. I cannot understand all the 5 star reviews.
Apart from needing to be grammar and spell proofed badly, the Neanderthal way of description (yes it was supposed to be the bear thinking) was just plain stupid. E.G. Woman’s sire emerged from his cover but Alphonse-Bear - I mean we are not in preschool. Also the asinine statement and I quote “THE KIND OF SWAT EVERY WOMAN NEEDED AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR TO KEEP HER IN LINE” I nearly put the book down then and there.
The hero was just not likeable in the beginning, he acted like a rat bag to the heroine who seemed way too good for him. They may have been long-time friends but it was still a one night stand for him, even though he knew he would be taking her virginity. Takes more than sperm to be a father. He states (not asks) that they will get married because of the baby.
The heroine stands up to him at first and states she would have had nothing to do with him if she knew it was a one night deal and that he betrayed her. She caught him with another woman and overheard him stating to another man to get a paternity test because humans lie. Then she works for him because he was the baby’s father and they were childhood friends.
It is sort of stated but not clear if she was working for him whilst pregnant and if she was how could he not know or scent that the baby was his. She accepts his bad overbearing behaviour even though he has done nothing to apologise or redeem himself to her, no explanations or declarations of feelings.
Then she defends/fights for him when his ex he was with for 5 years shows up, because she has known him since they were children and she had his baby, so he is hers. The heroine had one night with him, this woman had him for 5 years. Just all sorts of wrong for her to act like this.
I love a good shifter book where the women are feisty but not one that makes women out to be nothing more than owned by a man or act like stupid doormats when they have been wronged.
Just rubbed me the wrong way all around to the tune that I refunded the book.

one night is all it took to turn her life upside down. always a good girl to the local pastor, Tamar looked to have a good future. that was before she gave her virginity to Alphonoso. friends for years, she couldn't help but have a little crush on him, even when he wasn't the most likable person towards others. the result of that one night is what changed everything for her.
shunned by her parents she makes due, keeping shut about who the father to her baby daughter is. these days she's working for Alphonso. she's one of the few that can handle his "social skills" or lack there off. she always managed to keep him away from her baby but one night when she was fed up with him and had her phone turned off changed it all, again.
he almost literally barges into her flat, tamar still tries to hide her daughter but it only takes him one inhale of the little one's scent to know what is going on.
question now is how is everybody going to react to the fact that Alphonso is the father and what will he do?

there is a lot to resolve and even more to talk about. things are only made more complicated when an old ex from alphonso enters the picture, one who brings a whole lot of trouble from his past he'd much rather forget!

a good read, another spellcheck would have been handy and maybe one or two lines in the story that aren't a plus towards woman (it is mentioned in another review)

it was a good read with some devious twists and and a nice ending!

Tamara is a single mom with a six month old daughter no is waitressing at a bar owned by her best friend since grade school. She always works extra shifts, she is saving for the down payment for her own business. She is keeping the true father's name to herself because she is waiting for him to be ready to be a daddy and maybe a mate for her.
I volunteered to review this ARC book using my own opinion.
One day Al came by her home to give her a message and saw the baby for the first time. Then he asked her why she never told him the baby was his. He told her on the one night, that it was only one night and to not ask for any more.
He asked if he could hold her and of course she said yes. She was smiling because he went and sat on the couch and gave her his hands to show him what to do. He didn't want to drop her.
The road to becoming a family of three is paved with a lot of potholes, kidnaping, an old flame, and more. I did not read the first book, so some of the people were probably in the first book, but I did not need it to enjoy them. There are stressful parts in here it is not all wine and roses, so be prepared to be blown away. I volunteered to review this ARC book using my own opinion.

Tamar is human and Alphonso is a werebear they have always had a thing for each other. When she was off to college they hooked up. He told her it was one night only no commitment and not to come after him for more.
Not long after that night she found out she was carrying his cub. She didn't tell anyone not wanting him to have to take carry of her but she went to tell him about the baby and found him with another woman so she handled it all on her own until the night he stopped by and smelled the baby girl and knew.
Sparks fly and steam rolls off this story. It has everything action, drama, bad guys, bad girls, and bears!
You will not be disappointed I couldn't put it down.

Book gifted for an honest review and I honestly loved it.

After reading about Liam and Meredith' friends, Alphonso and Tamar in the first book, I couldn't wait to see the rest of their story. I loved the development of the characters between the two books. The author described them so well that I felt like I had known them forever.

Alphonso is second in command bear shifter of the Clan as well as a business owner. Tamar is a single human mother and waitress at Alphonso's bar. We get to see that they have had a long history that has come full circle to bring them back together. It's a wonderful, sexy, funny, thrilling story with a HEA.

Big Bad Bear....

This was the second book in series and told the story of Al and Tamar....him being the 2nd behind the Alpha. Trouble comes his way after trying to keep his human mate and cub safe. Good writing and great characters and it was as good as the first book written. Definitely a good read!

Tamar has been in love with Al since they were children. She has a one night stand which results in a baby but doesn't tell him. Now she works for him but he vet really noticed the baby until suddenly six month later he sees the baby and he recognizes his cub.

Now he pushed away because of his biker past but we really don't know why.

This is a good, quick read. It takes place after Liam's Bride but the action centers on Tamar and Alphonso. Alphonso discovers that Tamar's daughter is his child. He is adamant about taking care of his child including marrying the child's mother. Then, a woman from his past comes into his bar and the fur flies.

Beautiful

Tamar wow what can I say she cracks me up. I wish I could know her in person. The author developed the characters in such away that you can't help but know them, feel what they fell, and rejoice in their victories. Definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys a good shifter story with a great alpha male, a sassy heroine, and ex girlfriend drama.... With a HEA

A Very Good Story

I thought starting this book it wasn't going to be any good. It turned out to be an excellent story, with two main characters that had always loved each other. The male finally got his head screwed on right to become an excellent father and mate. A very good story.
