" Go beddy-bye."
"Geez Louise."
"I need to scoot away before my privates flaunt their fierce approval"
"I can only imagine what she could do if she controlled her abilities the way I do with my measlier ones."
" I ask, brave, the way we men are supposed to be. It's not a smart move with Ulani. I'm leaving myself open for jabs. I jump because I never heard her move."
"Note to self: organize cup shelves when she's not around."
" An part-feline whimper.."
"Advised him to not speak with the new widow in the neighborhood unless Grams received her first."- not only is this not even a complete sentence, it's unintelligible.
Sunniva is on my "Read Everything She Writes" list (Thanks to Cheryl McIntyre of course) and this book delivered on exactly what it promised.
So, needless to say, there was a bit of an adjustment period for me at the beginning of this book, getting used to the fact that the female lead character turns into a house cat and the male lead character has the ability to read and alter the emotions of other people. That's what make Sunniva's writing so good, just a few chapters in and I was completely comfortable with the fact that Ulani turns into a cat and Aidan can invade peoples' emotional states. A few more chapters and I totally bought into the idea that these traits were "super powers" of sorts. Another chapter or two and I was totally loving Aidan's interactions with both Ulani and Mina (the cat alter ego).
If there was one thing I struggled with in this book, it was the suspense plot line that runs throughout. I'm pretty certain suspense just isn't my thing. I often second guess the viability of some of the suspense elements I read and this book was no different. I'm sure lots of readers crave a good mystery. I however, tend to lean toward the idea that the mystery is getting in the way of my romance time. LOL ㋡ I guess there was a reason I named my blog Obsessed with Romance.
As always, Sunniva delivers the heat, the sexual tension and the perfect amount of romance. This book has a uniquely intelligent slow-build, which I both loved and hated. (which BTW, I think was exactly what Sunniva intended) I absolutely believed that I was reading about a couple falling in love, not insta-love but the honest to goodness building of a relationship. The best part of this "paranormal" romance was the fact that it was truly a romance in every sense of the word.
