I know what you want, and I know exactly how to give it to you...

It's why I've got a row of platinum records on my wall and girls lining up for a shot at fame. I'm the best. Now I just need to prove it.

The bet is simple: take a nobody and make her a star. I just didn't bet on HER.

She's not some wannabe, she's the real deal.

But fuck it, I want her. And I always come out on top.

Brando is the first in a two part erotic romance about one girls dream and a man with his eyes set on, his perception of, the perfect prize. The premise caught my attention with 'the bet,' an agreement of sorts. I cannot resist this kind of book combined with ingredients that culminate in pure gorgeous light and breezy romantic reading with a dash of angst and an abundance of sexy moments. This story delivers in every way. It made me swoon and melt, and smile and hope, I absolutely loved this swoony, lovely-on-the-heart read that engaged my attention and my book soul from the beginning until the very end and left me eager for more.

The story alternates between the perspective of the hero and heroine, Brando and Haley, and is told in the first person narrative which draws the reader effortlessly into their state of mind and showcases the story arc perfectly.

Brando is an A & R man, a music manager. He’s passionate about his music and strives to be the best, making him a sexy prospect for a romantic book hero with the added attributes of being charismatic with a dash of arrogance and a body to lust after. He is gorgeous and it soon becomes evident from his actions, thoughts and scintillating dialogue that he's also kind and caring, with an easy going fun personality.

Haley was born to make music and sing but her longed for dreams of making it in the music industry are fading, even so her determined character traits shine through as she continues to play open mic. I very much appreciated her spark and spunky personality teamed with her pragmatic approach to life.

The supporting characters enhance the texture of the story, especially Haley's best friend Jenna who is just divine. I really hope we hear more about her hopes and dreams in the future.

Brando is not overly complicated in terms of the story arc but even so it did not lack in substance or character motivation. The author has them set to easy perfection for my tastes. The prose is eloquent and brimming with personality and words that seamlessly drive the story and the character's personas forward at every moment. The passing of time and the development of their relationship is subtly crafted with an engaging quality that kept my interest level high. Haley's development through Brando's eyes gave me goose bumps and the book flutters and when I least expected, it gave me an OH-MY-GOODNESS moment, one I didn’t see coming and I valued the simplistic placement of it and the fact that sentimentality was not in any way laboured. It would be remiss of me not to mention the EROTIC & HIGHLY SEXY nature of this book placed with the precision to make readers feel the full force of the protagonists combined chemistry with each other making it a lusciously HOT ROMANCE that will engage lovers of this genre, making them smile and melt for Brando and Haley. I can't wait for more!

NOTE: Brando Part Two is due to be released November 12th 2015!

4.5 BRANDO STARS

I was over the moon to have Brando's story. If you've read Insatiable, Part One, then you know that this is where we first meet Brando, Jax's best friend. And if you haven't read that series yet - what are you waiting for?? You should!

Brando is the epitome of stud, man whore, player. He's a "go big or go home" type of guy and most people are drawn to him like a beacon that you can't ignore...

“I like things hard and fast, competitive and challenging. I play games of pick-up like it’s my last shot at the play-offs, slam weights at the gym like my life depends on it, fuck every woman like a man on death row. I hate the phrase ‘push it to the limit’ – because for me there are none.”

This story all begins with a bet. An impossible bet that Brando doesn't shy away from because he wants the one thing that got away and he's determined to win it back.

 photo image.jpg1_zps9hyfiwkk.jpg

To win the bet, he must make Haley Grace Cooke a star. A woman so far from his usual type that at first, he doesn't even notice her. But he's going to make her a star and in the process get what he wants.

While Brando certainly had me lusting and swooning for him. Haley stole my heart! I LOVED this girl. She's strong, sassy, funny, adorable and so real. And she doesn't suffer fools gladly. From the get go, she has Brando's number and wants nothing to do with him.

 photo image.jpg1_zpszintv7mo.jpg

While it takes a lot from Brando to make Haley trust him, she eventually decides to follow her dream and if Brando can make it happen, why not?

"It's always about the music, right?"

Of course, these two start to develop a friendship and then more. As their bond grows, I really loved getting to learn more about Brando and his past. Just like Jax, he may be a player but underneath it all, he's got a heart of gold that any woman would be lucky to capture.

And together, these two are hot!

"I pant and moan barely able to hear myself through the sound of my body’s ecstasy. A virtuoso performance, and in the center of it all is the drumbeat of his cock, getting harder and faster. From rhythmic ballad to driving groove to slamming beat, until it turns in a jungle rhythm, a primal thump that feels like thunder striking deep, to the depths of my soul. A jackhammer booming inside of me, sending me higher into the stratosphere with each thrust.”

There were some great moments in this novella and one of my faves was Brando and Haley filming themselves on the beach.

It perfectly captured how far they'd come and what they could be.

My only beef and it's not really one was that this novella was so engrossing that it went by too fast and while I loved every word, I wanted more! Seriously disappointed when it ended. Thank goodness, we don't have to wait too long for the second book!

I truly, madly loved this book! It's a book to lose yourself in. Mr. Hawkins did it again and wrote a beautiful romantic story - might be his best book yet! It's heart-wrenching in the very best way.

Brando accepts a bet challenge and the game is on. Take a nobody and make her a star within a month! Haley proves to have hidden talents and Brando does everything he can to get Haley in the charts. But, what are the chances he wins the bet when emotions get in the way and Haley finds out his true intention?

I loved that the story starts from a point of action ;) Also, the love scenes are simply perfect, your heart is full, your body is about to explode. The author uses words powerfully, playing with the reader's emotions. He delivers a steamy romance with emotional drama, fully fleshed out characters and sexy dialogue. Can't wait for the second installment!

Oh my goodness, this was just such a delicious and sexy to read...

"The bet is simple, take a nobody and make her a star. I just didn't bet on her."

Brando makes artists shine, he gives them a chance, an opportunity to be become something. He works hard and he plays woman hard too, everything is music to him, his job and his women. Yet he has a past that is painful and a past he can't seem to get past, except here he bumps into his past and commences a bet to make a star within a month....

 photo 532238F3-3C00-40CE-A7AA-2D50FC686123_zps7xszterw.gif

Haley is working at a coffee shop, she works hard and is playing at dives to get her face known, she's a small voice. She's not someone that people would on a normal day pick out as she has a soulful voice and something unique and different, she's not what people on a usual day would pick out yet she got lucky with Brando.

Brando offers Haley the chance of a lifetime, yet he also starts to find himself in the journey. He finds something fresh and new, something musical and in Haley finds soul. Haley doesn't want to be a star exactly as she wants to plainly play music she loves and become something, somebody REAL.

 photo 5DDF2CE4-CFD0-40E6-90D3-11BBE9FD5EFD_zps8szh4c5j.jpg

Brando gets to know how Haley ticks, find her faults how she rolls and therefore mouldy her into a star of her own.. Telling her bits that she needs to know, other times not so. In time they become a unit, and that's where I'm stopping as I don't want to ruin the story for you. Will the bet catch up with them though?? And how will this end??

What I enjoyed
This is an erotic serial in two parts, yet the story was what grabbed me from the beginning and then their chemistry and unity was what grabbed my heart, and become a more of an emotional story for me.
 photo 985CE058-E193-434E-911A-DC22F1CC075C_zpsdmogkyl4.gif

Plus their vulnerability shined through, how Brando was worried that his bet would catch up with him, will Haley succeed but will she still be herself. I really enjoyed the hell out of this book gah it has everything I look for when reading these serials. Intrigue, chemistry, sensuality and the writing carried a charm that had me smile at moments and kept me turning the pages. I'm really looking forward to the second part in November so not too long to wait...

Until next time...

Brando was no stranger to me when I started reading. As Jax's best friend I already fall for his charm and I was anticipating his book. I wanted to discover what was beneath the cocky attitude he has.

description

Brando has a gift when it comes to spot talent. He already had one experience in the past and if it wasn't for some asshole who stole his star, his love and future, Brando would have a total different life.

This said asshole is back after a few years challenging our hot guy Brando with a bet he can refuse: Turn a nobody into a star in one month.

description

Haley has her own reason for making music but singing night after night with no hope of success is getting tired. When Brando proposes her a deal, she just laughs at his face and pushes him away.

Luckily and almost instantly, she let her guard down and decides to give him a chance.
Music and magic is on the way.

Even if Brando's idea of their deal is to make easy music, Haley doesn't see it that way, she wants to make her own music, on her own time.
Their bond is easy. They became friends fast and I wish I could have seen a little more in the book. Some chapters go too quickly from one situation to another.

My fav' part was chapter 12. Brando is known as the guy who goes for it with women. He sees something he likes -> He takes it. But in this chapter you get to know the real him and his story. You get to see how great and sensitive the guy is.

I thought Haley was a shy girl but it appears quickly she just lives her life the way it comes. And that's probably why she gets on so well with Brando.
Their relation has no real status, no pretense and it worked so well. There is no expectation other than spent a good time

“I don’t understand what’s happening between us, Brando. Is this about me? Or is this about music?”
“It’s about music,”
“It’s always about music.”

Even if you could easily guess how the book ends, you are left eager to see how everything will wrap up. And I can't wait to have the second book in my hands.

As an erotic author, JD never fails to write sex and steamy scenes like no other author I've read. But to me Brando was much more and it has the potential to be a fantastic and epic love story.

“You look so beautiful right now, The way your hair falls over your face, the way your eyes catch the light and hold it. You always look amazing, but right now, right here, out in the light, I can see the magic around you.”

Everytime I see a JD Hawkins book pop up on my kindle, I instantly get excited. And with Brando, I was even more excited. I loved the pieces we got of him in Insatiable. And was hoping he'd get his own story. And we did. Brando is my new favorite of all of JD's men AND books! There's just something special about him. Yes, we knew that he was a player. A "manwhore". Maybe even a little bit of a douche. But what I wasn't expecting was this other side. He wasn't a pig. He was real. He was sweet. Yes. Sweet!! Thoughtful. Caring. We know what he's capable of. Women flock to him. But yet, we really never saw THAT side of him. I absolutely loved him. And I can't forget about his sexiness. Cause yes. Brando has hotness just oozing out of his pores! He's the whole damn package.

One of my favorite things in the world, besides reading, is music. It's my other passion. So you put a great story based around music and what you get is absolute perfection. Brando is in the music industry. He scouts new talent. And turns them into stars. His new challenge is Haley. He's taking a huge risk on her. Due to circumstances that I will not give away. Because SPOILERS!! But what happens when you put these two together? They make beautiful music!! In the studio and in the bedroom. The sexy times. Good lord. Brando knows how to work all parts of his body. Ahem. Yes. Whether it's his big beautiful and illegal cock. Or his magical fingers, or his titalizing tongue. Brando knows how to give it!!!

But what happens when there's some deception, secrets...heartbreak? Will these two be able to stay together to continue their beautiful song? I sure hope so! Because I don't ever want their music to stop playing.

JD Hawkins has wowed me again. Brando is my new favorite book of his. It's not what I was expecting. It was so much more. A beautifully crafted storyline, amazing REAL and believable characters. From the beginning to the end, I was completely sucked in. I love watching JD grow as a writer. He has quickly become one of my favorite authors. And this book just validates that even more so. I have one request Mr. Hawkins.....NO MORE FACEBOOK UNTIL I GET BOOK 2!!!!! Because yeah, that ending. I might of ranted just a tiny bit.

If you're deciding on 1-clicking this book, just trust me. Do it!!!

There’s something special about JD Hawkins’s writing and it all comes shining through in “Brando,” his third effort. I’ll attempt to explain what that is.

We met the title character, Brando Nash in Hawkins’s debut, “Insatiable” – which if you haven’t read, you really must – as Jax’s best friend. You don’t need to have read “Insatiable” to read “Brando,” although if you did, you might be predisposed to love the bigger-than-life Italian from Brooklyn, with the body of a God, however you might wonder about his back story, which is barely hinted at. Like Jax, Brando’s got arrogance, swagger, and goes through women like they are miles on a roadtrip.

That’s a pretty bad metaphor. Hawkins is a master of them, and they are a consistent and unique stylistic quirk of his writing.

Brando is a music executive in Hollywood, the land of appearances, using people for your own gain, and where real talent may get overlooked for flash. This atmosphere is portrayed really well, and could lead the reader to wonder whether Brando’s intentions toward the female lead are true. The thing is, we know immediately that his intentions aren’t true, because Brando takes up a rival music executive on a bet: make the mousy, quiet girl on stage a star in a month, and Brando gets back Lexi Dark, a mega-star with whom he had a long history. Fail to chart a single in a month, and Brando loses an act from his musical roster, ten thousand dollars, and damage to his reputation and credibility, which matters a whole lot in a business based on what other people think of you. Game on.

Haley is a singer, who is nothing like Brando’s usual type of bombshells. In fact, when Brando first sees her, she barely registers. No idiot, she trusts Brando about as far as she can throw him, and it takes quite a bit of charm and sincerity on his part for her to agree to record a single, get a stylist, and do the other activities required for signing a new star.

But the thing is, she doesn’t sign. They operate on trust. And little by little, they start to fall for each other beyond what they can get out of each other, meaning success in the music business.

And this is why Hawkins is special. Beneath the strutting of his male characters is a sweetness and a vulnerability. Yeah, Brando knows he’s hot and exploits it. But there is a soft side underneath that bluster that makes us fall for him. If he was a prideful dude with a lot of chutzpah, and stayed that way, we wouldn’t care about him. But the fact that his shortcomings are exposed to the reader, shows the risks that the character makes in his decisions, and creates a rounded character you want to root for. Brando’s not perfect. He makes mistakes and assumptions.

Oh, and the sex is scorching hot.

I have an unofficial rule that in a romance novel, a character must be naked, or at least kissed by Chapter One. This book satisfied that rule by Brando’s encounter with a hot yoga teacher at the gym in the prologue. Without giving too much away, the sex continues to be on fire, as the book progresses.

It’s not all sex, of course. There’s a story here. My favorite scene in the book is a cute one: when Haley and Brando film her music video, on the cheap, with them just going to the beach and around town, acting natural and having fun. That’s a good way to describe this book, too: it’s natural and fun.

The writing of the book is fast and efficient and all in the present tense, making everything very immediate. There’s nothing in here that doesn’t need to be here. In fact, the only complaint is that there needs to be more, which we are getting in part two.

I loved it. More, please.

Stu, I mean Brando, tsk-tsk...

This is a first JD read for me. I have the 1st book in his other 2 duets but unfortunately haven't gotten to them yet (eek)...

Now I haven't read any of the other reviews on this yet, something I typically do right after I finish reading a book, but off the top of my head, there are a few things that came to mind quickly. It may have been said already, or not...

JD could have easily titled this book Stu, as in Stu Reardon, the cover model, and I would've been more than ok. I actually had to keep reminding myself that the H's name is Brando *grins*. Second, as soon as I read part of the blurb, "The bet is simple: take a nobody and make her a star.", the first thing that popped into my head, "Ooh, kinda' like Pygmalion, but with a twist". Is it just me? Third, I actually had to look up "A&R". I'm sorry, but just call me clueless that way.

The blurb tells us under what circumstances Brando and Haley met. Brando and the readers know that, but not Haley.

Brando, initially, if I didn't know any better, almost came across as d0uche-y, just because I know what he was trying to do. But, I'll be the first to say that he is a decent guy albeit misguided with his desires that he was willing to do whatever it takes. At least, he sorta' recognized that himself as well. And there is his sense of humor, and his tenacious drive.

Haley, initially, almost felt like this pawn in whatever game Brando was trying to pull. She's an amiable person with a good touch of snark who has talents and just wants to get her break. I love how she has that spark in her.

I didn't immediately buy into their connection in my head, a consequence of having access to Brando's thoughts. Outside of Brando being Stu in my head, I was frankly wondering what she's seeing in him at first. Not that he was an a$$ to her or anything like that, it was because I know what his original motives were. But lo and behold, as I read more, I started getting it. Then their connection really sizzled! Before I know it, I was getting just as enamored as Haley. Without me getting a full picture of their daily minutiae and just being focused on their interaction, I started falling for Brando myself. With select words, I started seeing what Haley meant to Brando. In a short amount of time, I sense growth on Brando's part. I felt the sincerity of just doing right by Haley. If I think of it as a movie, it felt I was given a well-crafted montage where I got glimpses here and there of events that when put together, you understand the emotional intent and fall for every second of it...

Alas, this is just the first book in the duet, so no HEA yet. The designated "villains" have just started doing their villain-y moves. All is not well yet... Luckily, the 2nd book is just around the corner.

In the meantime, I really need to get to JD's other books...

I loved this book!!!! J.D. Hawkins has done it again!
Brando is in the music industry. He is handsome, sexy and extremely persistent when he wants something. He has been hurt and so, when the opportunity to get back what he lost appears, he snatches it.
One bet.
A talented singer.
A crafty manager.
Brando sees a lot of potential in Haley. His bet is safe with her but what he didn't expect was to fall under her spell. Her innocence is refreshing and her talent magnetic. He promises to make all her dreams come true but who is going to have to trust who when the spotlight is on?
I loved, loved the writing . Flawless and easy to follow. The characters were animated and vivid, almost bursting through the pages. Their chemistry was sizzling and the slight predictability of the plot did not make the story less beautiful.
I cannot wait for the next part. Do not miss this!!!

I was gifted an ARC of BRANDO by this lovable, talented new writer despite having it on Pre-Order and bugging him regularly about the book, stalking his progress and making a general nuisance of myself on his FB pages.
**Thank You, JD!**
I was so pleased and surprised with Hawkins' growth as a writer and story teller between Insatiable (where we met Brando) and BootyCall, I knew this would be a good book. It was the "cliched" character of Brando - his LA bigger than life persona, his Lady Killer - love'em & leave'em, Italian Stallion Rep that had me a bit "reserved". There's not a whole lot "new" you can do with a guy like that. Right?

Holy Shit! Hold on to your panties, ladies! I was hot and bothered and digging for B.O.B.-by the end of the damn PROLOGUE! Kinda like when I cried at the opening credits of Titanic - I knew I was really in for it!

And JD did NOT disappoint. Aside from the structural stuff, where the writing flowed like bubbling lava, smooth, hot and mesmerizing...the kinda stuff you can't take your eyes off...The exquisite storytelling transformed this character, the heart of this book, with the most genius twists and turns. You find yourself so far gone from where you expected to be - the cliffy is a punch in the gut. Leaving you breathlessly in love, with very last guy (I) EVER expected to fall for. (Except for that illegally sized cock of his.)
I knew I'd fall for that! Poor little Haley, looking at the biggest cock she'd ever seen, says "That should be illegal." Shes so scared AND excited she can barely breathe. But Brando reassures her... "Its okay, I know how to use it." *grab your shamwow panties, ladies, cuz does he ever*

Its absolute magic when these big tough confirmed bachelors fall. No one expects it. Least of all them.
JD took a pound of hamburger from Insatiable and served us up 100% USDA PRIME man meat, with 6 full gourmet courses and fine wine to go with it.

Something to be savored for sure! and Dessert is on the way! PART 2 will be here Nov 12th. ( Not before a few of us lose our damn minds waiting) Bonuses: You'll LOVE Haley.Shes strong, spunky, independent, tomboyish - you'd never expect manwhore to look at her twice (he does look at EVERYTHING once!) Oh! Another big bonus! The backdrop to the story...another tether to my heart, something JD and I - many of you will share. Don't miss his Playlist!

Cuz, besides JD and Brando - Its All about the music!

A Five Star Read for sure! You'll be so surprised and delighted with this book - you won't be able to keep yourself from becoming a big fan of JD's.

BRANDO has the hook that will pull you in until you’re humming in pleasure. This music industry executive is full of muscles, determination, stubbornness and a hint of vulnerability. Basically everything I love in a brooding leading man and everything that will make you swoon. Brando’s flashing smile and mouth watering abs get him more play than Justin Beiber’s newest single. He’s hot, he’s young and he’s focused on getting exactly what he wants – always.

But Brando’s been burned. He may be all hustle and muscle, but when it comes to Lexi Dark, she’s the break in his armor. He made her into the star she is today and she burned him just as she was about to shine. When he’s approached with a bet that could let him get his revenge, he doesn’t hesitate. But he doesn’t expect Haley to refocus his world and adjust the controls to pull him out of autotune.

Haley rocks. She’s refreshing and funny; bright and sarcastic. She doesn’t roll over just because Brando cracks a smile or flexes his muscles and she makes sure that her wishes are known. She doesn’t quite know why Brando’s so interested in her but she wants this….whatever this is…badly.

Haley and Brando make amazing music together…both in the studio and out – they have a great connection, engage in lighthearted banter, and throw off some serious heat. I’d like to carry Brando around with me so that whenever I’m stressed out he can alleviate my worries. With his tongue. And his dick. And his fingers. Because YES. Yes, please. He’s better than prozac.

Are you pretty sure you know how the cliffhanger is going to leave you? Sure. Did I care? Nope. Because this book is a hell of a good time.

Fast paced, light and just plain FUN, this novella will have you tapping your fingers to the beat of Brando and Haley’s song…until that cliffhanger leaves you with dead air. ;) Hawkins knows how to drop a beat – and a story. This is most definitely his best work to date. NEXT BOOK, PLEASE.

Brando (Brando #1) by JD Hawkins
4.5 stars!!

“I’m gonna make you a star…whoever you are.”

This is the first book of a duet and is a really quick read at 139 pages; book 2 comes out on November 12th.

I have to say, I love JD Hawkins style of writing, when he first came on to the scene I picked up his first book and have never looked back. As much as female authors can nail a male POV, there is something about a male writing a male POV that just resonates even deeper. I love getting that insight into the male psyche, that first hand cockiness and the male thought processes that make such entertaining reading.

Having worked in the music industry for a few years I was already interested by the synopsis and Brando being an A&R manager for a record company was already tantalising my taste buds. These managers go all out in getting what they want so I was anticipating a bumpy ride.

Brando came across as the cocky, arrogant womaniser but under that playboy façade was a man that had been burned badly. He was passionate about his music, he lived and breathed it, he was fiercely competitive and determined and of course, hot as hell. Brando had broken rule 101 in A&R…don’t fall in love with someone you sign. He had worked tirelessly to get her known and once she hit the big time, she upped and left, Brando was devastated and heart broken and vowed never to put himself in that position again.

“I hate the phrase “push it to the limit” – because for me there are none. I see life as a series of barriers, and behind each one is the thing you want. Some people use their brains to get past, some people bang their heads against them until they break, most people tend to give up and head in another direction entirely – me, I pick up speed and try to break through the first time. No second thoughts, no doubts and no slowing down. The trouble is that when you live like that, you tend to make a mess.”

Haley was a quiet, introverted musician, but her heart and soul bled through the music and lyrics that she wrote. She wanted to make it big in the music industry but on her terms. She was uncompromising with her craft, she didn’t want any flashy gimmicks, pop hooks or such like, she wanted her music to speak for itself.

Open mic night, a blast from the past and a bet lead to Brando and Haley’s paths cross. Brando never backs down, but as these two learn more about each other is history going to repeat itself?

“…but it’s just a prelude, a slow-building overture. I lose myself in a flurry of sensations, so many it’s like there are a dozen of him, kissing and touching and biting at my body with beautiful timing.”

I adored Brando and Haley; these two were both so passionate about music and especially its roots. They had so much in common and once they go to know each other properly you could see where this was going to end up. Sometimes people just click and these two did just that. Brando puts himself out there once again and while I felt his hesitance when this guy goes in, he goes all in. I loved that Haley wasn’t a push over, she was confident and head strong and had no qualms in standing up for herself.

“It’s always about the music, right?”

I can’t wait to see what happens to these two, November cannot come quick enough!!

J.D Hawkins proved again that he has the talent to write,
and with this book he shined!

Brando was meticulously crafted with creative characters
and extensive research in the music industry.

"Big...bold...brash...BRANDO." This is exactly
what we get with every extraordinary chapter.

From the Prologue to the end it was just a perfect
combination of incredible chapters. JD has crafted
the art of writing memorable sexy scenes. He adds drama,
laughter and awe-inspiring knowledge within his descriptions.

I pant and moan, barley able to hear myself through the
sound of my body's ecstasy. A virtuoso performance, and in the
center of it all is the drumbeat....

From rhythmic ballad to driving groove to slamming beat,
until it turns in a jungle rhythm, a primal thump that
feels like thunder striking deep, to to the depths of my soul.

As a girl who dated a musician and married one I appreciated
all the references in regards to the hardcore industry as one
tries to become a star, its difficult, frustrating but sometimes
the sweat and hours put in are incredible worth it.
Haley Grace Cooke with Brando's help just might get her chance.

"I'm going to make you a star, I say softly as she sings, "whoever
your are."

This gem has everything, Brando (need I say more),
Haley (shy, tough, talented), detail into the
Music Industry, just the right amount of angst,
and sexy scenes that you will read twice.

I received an Arc of this book. I am not only extremely grateful
it was a honor to read this book.

There was begging and pleading for a “Brando book” when we all finished Insatiable. What I just read exceeded my expectations—Not just exceeded-- blew them out of the water.

JD added a great depth to the playboy from the Bronx we met in Insatiable. He made you fall in love with the boy he was and the man he grew to be, even with his womanizing history. Under all of that sex and bravado there is a real, genuine, and even sweet man. A man, who once he wakes up and realizes what is in front of him, is a woman’s dream. This author is ridiculously talented and leaves me in awe time and time again.

As I read, I felt a sense of anxiety; I wanted to devour the story, but I knew that this was part one of a two part series and that made me attempt to slow my pace. ‘Attempt’ because there is no way to not WANT to read this book once you crack the cover. You know that something big is going to happy and it is going to blow at any time, but, like any perfect train wreck, you see the signs, you know it is coming, and there is absolutely no way to not watch and absorb everything going on.

This book is perfection. From the musical references that tie in masterfully to the plot, to the sexy, slow seduction between these two unsuspecting characters, Brando is a must read!

I am eagerly and ‘patiently’ waiting for part two, Mr. Hawkins.

Wow! Just Wow! I have read everything that JD Hawkins has published and although he would be considered a somewhat newer writer each book seems to get better and better. I started this book early evening last night and could not put it down until I finished...that is how well it is written and how it kept my attention

JD's writing literally blew me away. I was in amazement about how this author has grown in such a short time. I am not even sure I can describe why...just the way the words flowed and how descriptive they are, the metaphors he uses, maybe the term I am looking for is poetic…I’m not really sure but here is part of one sex scene

”I pant and moan barely able to hear myself through the sound of my body’s ecstasy.

That is just an example of the metaphors he uses in his writing, but this book is not really based on hot sex scene after hot sex scene. There is a great story here. Brando Nash, arrogant, confident hot record exec get’s taunted, by a rival, into a bet to put his money and talent where his mouth is and turn a random unknown signer, Haley, into a star in a month. If he achieves this he will get something back that he’s wanted for a long time. Haley is a down to earth, singer/songwriter who loves real music. She’s not into becoming a fake pop star. She wants to stay true to her music. So you get that whole push/pull between the two characters. What I love about this story is that Brando really gets a good look at who he really is and what he really values down deep away from the superficial surface of the LA scene.

description

This is not a standalone. It is part 1 of 2. Part two will be out Nov 12. I generally wait to read books until they are all out but with this author I don’t. One because I like him and his writing and two because he always gets the 2nd part out in a timely fashion

I was fortunate to get an ARC of this book with no expectation of a review in return for the ARC. This book was so review worthy!

Well sh*t, JD outdid himself this time! Brando is my favorite of his characters to date. We all wanted to know his story when we first met him in the Insatiable series (which, if you haven’t read yet, is super hot!), and what a story he has! Brando is super sexy, a bit wounded, a bit of a manwhore, but overall, he’s such a great guy!

“Brando” is definitely JD’s best writing - the scenes are so memorable - specifically a music video scene - which was so damn creative. I could totally see the entire thing playing out like a movie in my head. I absolutely fell in love with the music industry setting JD created. It felt real, like someone with inside knowledge was giving us a taste of what the world was really like - the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Haley was positively delightful and a perfect match for Brando. She’s sweet although a bit jaded from trying to break into the music biz and failing up until now…. but once she realizes that Brando is for real, her musical gift shines through. She and Brando play off each other perfectly and their chemistry felt natural and sizzled on the page.

I feel like “Brando” was heavy on the plot, less heavy on the sex - HOWEVER - that totally worked for me! I was fascinated at the world JD created; the music industry, the recording sessions, the music video, and even Haley’s back story were all so captivating, I just wanted to know more, experience more. When there was sex, it was perfectly timed and added to the story.

And of course, we have a second book coming - and I could smack JD for leaving me with a cliffy! I can’t wait to see what happens with Brando and Haley next!

I really enjoyed the glimpses I got of Brando when I read Insatiable, but that had nothing on how I got to know him here. Thus character struck me as the definition of a player (like Jax) and that hasn't really changed. But it's the back story that led him on this path that makes the difference. Knowing that he had the capacity to love and was burned by it added so much depth to his character. Almost everyone can empathize with a broken heart and the reActions one might take to get past it.

The slow burn of attraction between Brando and Haley made them that much more interesting and I couldn't help but root for them. It sucks that there were people (Lexi and Davis) who were like sharks circling in the water, waiting for the first scent of blood, but if they didn't exist, I guess the book would be missing the requisite angst. And those two created drama like it was their day job lol. So now that Brando is falling for Haley, and vice versa, things get all messed up.

I'm looking forward to book 2 to see how Brando redeems himself to Haley, knowing that the exquisite writing style of JD Hawkins won't disappoint!

4 Stars!

This is my first book by JD Hawkins and certainly not my last...

Brando is a A&R in the music industry and is really good at it.
So good that one of his best favorite, Lexi was stolen by an... ASSHOLE! But losing Lexi, he also lost his love and future.

The ASSHOLE referred before, Davis, offers a deal to Brando.
If he can make an anonymous famous within a month he can have Lexi back. DEAL ACCEPTED.

But what wasn't planned is that Haley, the strong and fierce woman that
Brando's chosen to represent, will, step by step, take an important place in Brando's life and heart.
Their friendship was playful and there were no drama. Their relationship and hot encounters felt natural and so true.

I liked this story, the writing is different, flawless and strong.
It ends with a cliffhanger and I'm glad we do not have to wait much longer to know how it will end...

Review of Brando is to be posted in the second part of this amazing story Brando: Part Two.

But before I move on to my next target, you have to know that this Brondo Nash guy is worth giving this book a shot.

“Holy shit,” I say, as the biggest and most beautiful cock I’ve ever seen emerges from his designer denim. “That looks…illegal.”

Definitely worth giving a shot ;)

Because for God's sake this is J.D. Hawkins and his characters are always heart melting, mind blowing and ridiculously gorgeous.

And the stories... Don't get me started!

Warning: the following review is longer than I intended. When I get drunk, I tend to talk a lot. I'm not drunk right now, but reading a J.D. Hawkins book seems to have the same effect on me as alcohol. I read them, and all of a sudden I seem to have a lot to say and I can't shut up.

The plot is simple. Brando accepts a bet from the slimiest prick on the face of the earth, because due to an excess of testosterone and ego, he just can't say no. The bet? Take Haley, a sweet, unpolished girl with the truest sense of self and rarest form of talent he has ever known. Can I get a "hell yeah" for a book with a girl who sings and plays the guitar? It's such a simple premise, but then JD Hawkins infuses into it characters who come to life right before you on the page. The characters thoughts shine with originality, a sharp sarcastic wit and some real feels that always come at you when you least expect it. I have come to expect no less from J.D. His superpower in his books seems to be creating sex gods with an ego larger than Jupiter. But the bigger they are, the harder they fall and the journey from hubris to humility is always swift and painful.

Having a degree in Dramatic Arts, I am always a sucker for a book that contains actors and singers. When I'm watching a play or a movie, I'm that obnoxious person who, instead of paying attention to what is going on in front of me on the stage or screen, I'm inspecting the set and the lighting. I am wondering about the actor's process of getting to know the character. I'm dissecting the legitimacy of the emotions the actor is portraying. I had a similar experience reading this book. The writing of the characters is so good, I'm not just simply reading the story and going along for the ride. I find myself stopping at regular intervals to psychoanalyze them and marvel in the pure evil genius and vivid imagery in the words I am reading. Seriously, I have no idea where he comes up with some of the unique metaphors I have come to expect. They are witty, funny dirty and thought provoking. Then throw in some sexual chemistry that's hotter than the scorching fires of hell, and you better hope you bought the extended warranty for your Kindle when it overheats! And only 99 cents!? You better one click this shit and then laugh like you just stole it because it is SERIOUSLY under-priced!

Brando is back! You do not need to read Insatiable, where Brando first appears but if you haven't read it yet, please do, you will love it!

Brando Nash is the playboy of all playboys! Brando is "six feet of gym-sculpted muscle, a strong jawline courtesy of Italian ancestry (via Brooklyn, New York)" and he's got his dream job in the music industry. Brando got the world at his finger tips, he makes it happen! Oh my, I'm in love!

What Brando doesn't have is the big act that got away. When he's given an opportunity to win back the one that got away, he takes it without reservation. What he doesn't expect is what, or better said, who comes next.

Haley Grace Cooke, a open mic night singer, a unique talent and a old soul meets that man who can make her dream come true. She also gives Brando more than he's asking for.

Brando is the man of the hour. He is a smooth talking agent, with sex appeal and charisma. His drive gets him the musical acts but it also puts his heart in jeopardy. The story is sexy, well written and entertaining. J.D. Hawkins impresses with his uniquely vivid writing style. He also leaves you hanging, yes another cliff hanger but I know it'll be worth the wait!

Brando has been on every red blooded woman's radar since meeting his sexy self in JD Hawkins debut Insatiable duo. Larger than life, life of the party, the bedroom and the music business.

He works hard, plays hard and that one time loved hard...got a painful lesson from that and he has not quite let himself get over it. At a low moment at open mic night checking out potential talent he accepts a bet. The bet...make an unknown a star in a month, win back your former protege, his girl who abandoned him to chase fame & notoriety if not music.

Haley has the talent, the hunger but is losing hope until Brando approaches her. She thinks he's a typical LA hustler and Brando must change up his tactics.
Love how he never made a big deal when he did things to make her comfortable, finding her confidence. The bigger they are...he gets a bit in his head thinking this relationship is echoing the one that broke him.

The bet...it's a timebomb.
I love Brando, he has a big busted up heart and Haley is strong enough to hold that bad boy together. But the timebomb....

I love/hate JD Hawkins cliffies...I persevere because a) ALWAYS worth it and b) the wait is mercifully short.

So being a country girl living in Wisconsin, I know very little about the music industry. But this book… I want MORE!

Brando is a sexy-as-hell music A&R guy. Basically he finds the talent for the label and helps them bloom into artists. He is also a man scorned, and out to get back the one who got away by any means necessary.

Haley is a musician who is meek and shy at first... But once she breaks out, put on your sunglasses because she is brighter than the sun! She know what she wants and who she wants to be, and won’t settle for being made into the next pop princess.

When a bet is made, these two are thrown together and the results are like and splash of color in a black and white photo. They are so opposite at times I wasn’t sure if I was rooting for them or just hanging on for dear life through the journey.

This was a fast read and I cannot wait for more from this author. ~ Devlynn, 4.5 stars

This book is a pleasant surprise, it's not what I was expecting, and I really liked it. Brando is a gorgeous mountain of a man who can have any woman he wants and usually does but he is a love 'em and leave 'em kind of guy and he likes that just fine. But, there is one woman who broke his heart and by taking a crazy bet, he just might get her back. He has his work cut out for him, he has to make an unknown singer a star. Brando meets Haley and his usual brashness isn't going to work with this little songbird. But Brando does it, he makes her a star, but at what price?

Interesting plot, good characters, Brando and Haley have plenty of chemistry. I liked their banter and how they start to fall for each other. I'm very much looking forward to Brando 2!

Brando was the second book I read from JD Hawkins. Insatiable was the first. I liked both books but don’t love them enough to buy their sequels… I also find them rather expensive for just over 100 pages each.

Now for Brando. Just look at that cover!! This was a book I actually 1-Clicked more for the cover than the book description ;) Bad habit, I know!!

I really enjoyed Haley’s character! She’s sassy and strong.

The story is rather predictable and it’s a nice romance but that’s it ... A like, not a love! But this is personal. If you like a short romance without too much drama, suspense this is the book for you!

I Give Brando 5 Platinum Stars
After having read Insatiable and Insatiable Part 2, I just knew I had to jump on the sexy Italian, Brando train. J. D. Hawkins proved once again he could bring us to fulfillment with this platinum read. I first fell in love with Brando when I met this Italian stallion in Insatiable, and I just couldn’t wait to read a book about him. Once I met Haley, I just knew that she was his match as he needs someone who can put him in his place and resist his charms... not completely though. Their love story hits the charts right from the start and continued holding the number one slot.

Brando is a big time music executive from Brooklyn and is living in LA among the famous and beautiful. He has pursued his career with the love of his life in tow, until she walked away and left him to pick up the pieces of his heart and his life. So he is currently muddling through life with a surf board in one hand and drink in the other with a different babe every night. Living in the land of the fake is just fine with him, since he is not looking for anything real. That is until he cannot resist a bet and real is exactly what he gets.

His bet comes packaged in a mousy, soft spoken, struggling musician with a healthy side of sass. Haley knows who she is and is not willing to sacrifice her music and integrity for glitz and glam. When Brando offers her the shiny trappings of fame, she is quick to decline and give him a dose of her feistiness.

Together Brando and Haley make the sweetest, sexiest and edgiest music that no one can top. Oh and the sex isn’t half bad either, who am I kidding… it was explosive! Brando was unique, endearing, funny, not to mention smokin’ hot! I highly recommend to lovers of steam and fun. J. D. Hawkins does not disappoint with the witty dialogue along and the titillating scenes wrapped in a love story that touches the heart.

I really enjoyed this book. This is my first J D Hawkins book and I loved the style of writing, it was easy to follow and flowed well, drawing you in and had me eagerly turning the pages in anticipation of what was going to happen next.

Brando Nash is in the music industry, an A&R man for a record company. He is sexy, arrogant, full of swagger and the type of guy that the ladies fall all over but he has been hurt deeply by the one that got away. The story starts with a bet between him and a rival “take a nobody and make her a star within a month”.

Haley Grace Cooke is a singer trying to make it in the industry. She is not Brando’s normal type but as part of the bet he is determined to make her a star. Haley is talented and he sees a lot of potential in her but she has heard it all before and his usual approach is not going to work with her.

What Brando doesn’t expect is how much he is drawn to Haley with the bet becoming almost insignificant, he is determined to help her in any way he can, even doing it her way. There chemistry is sizzling and the sex smoking hot with just enough of it in the book but leaving you wanting more.

As the story unfolds, you could see the train wreck coming in the distance, knowing that it was going to blow apart and you are left with a cliff hanger but thankfully there is not long to wait for the next instalment. This was a great read, a really entertaining story and I will definitely be adding JD to my list of go to authors going forward.
