When a war is coming, running is not an option. After Tucker's betrayal, Lucy finds herself underground, imprisoned by the surviving Sirens. She clings to Jamie in her mind as she endures mental and physical torture when they try to break her spirit, and her laplanding bond to Jamie. Lucy must hold tight to herself, deciphering with care between the voices in her head and the ones around her. When a message comes to her from one of the voices in her head, she knows she must go back to Undraland. As the series goes on, I find myself hoping that the relationships will get better, but no. Lucy's relationships feel forced and unnatural, and the text tells me there is chemistry but I don't feel any. My favorite Lucy relationship in the series is with Charles Mace, honestly. Foss is abusive, even after the removal of his curse. Jens abandons her and treats her like a child, or he says he needs to protect her and she asks him for help only to be turned away. I don't like her relationship with either of them as written. Her relationship with Jamie has issues, too, including him having a literal way to see through her eyes yet still not believing her when she asks him for help or saying she is in danger!! I'm giving up hope on things getting better, but I'm invested in the story so I will continue to read on. I hope that Linus is what I have built him up to be in my head, but I have my doubts.
I don't even know where to start this book Was insane so many secrets revealed, betrayal and heartbreaking decisions. This addition to the undraland saga starts where Lucy at peace ended with Lucy and Jaimie having been given to the last sirens by Tucker, they are now stuck chained up in solitary cells. That is just the beginning as their torture continues they are starved, electrocuted and their brains so twisted from mental torture that the will to live is a notion that is slowly dying as the choice to die becomes the safer option. I don't want to reveal to much because it's so squeal worthy when the revelations come to light.... I will say though because it's a long time coming that the love triangle that is Foss, Jens and Lucy is very different in this book than the others. I was disappointed in Foss's behavior I know how mean he can be but generally when Lucy needs him he is there, but in this one he shuns a partially insane, emaciated Lucy instead of comforting. GRRRR.... It drove me crazy. I know hat the triangle had to broken up at some point but I won't lie I love Foss. If your like me Jens has been a seesaw of emotions as time and again he has hurt Lucy by not manning up, he finally does. Jens has learned what it is to live without Lucy and he is now being the man she deserves. The goodbye will make you tear up or at lest it made me.
“Of all the things I want, for you to be sorry is not one of them. I don’t need you to regret me. I don’t regret having you.”
Um.. so most of the book took place with Jamie and Lucy captured and held underground, which is what it is. I didn’t mind that. It kinda dragged on for a bit + the fact that they became so reliant of each other, even after they were saved, which I can understand - to a point. Their whole friendship dynamic changed and it got kinda weird imo so I’ve rated it lower than I would normally.. The parts where they had the family reunion (imaginarily) was pretty cool. Makes me wish for her that that was something she could’ve had in real life. Is it not general knowledge that a vark or whatever ties your life to the person? Because in a couple books back weren’t Lucy and Jamie talking about them dying to protect Britta and Jen’s? To keep them safe? But in actuality he dies if she does? What.. I can see how some people are disheartened by Foss’ reaction to Lucy in her state, but I can honestly understand where he’s coming from - it most likely hurt him seeing what she was reduced to.. just a fragile shell of the former woman he loved, all the while the guilt because he followed her star but still couldn’t find her, couldn’t save her.

I can't get enough of Lucy's poor life. And can't stop reading as every page turn unfolds another disaster. I'm confident you'll love Lucy at War. And immediately start the next!
Where Lucy and Jamie find themselves at the beginning of this book is disturbing. An unlikely group of heroes help them to get justice and return to those they love. The big question though is will everything still be the same. They are no longer who they once were. Lucy also finds herself saddled with an unbelievable task. Who will help her now?
After killing the queen of the siren Lucy is held captive by the remaining siren that no one knew lived underground (because a large underground bunker is easy to hide?). Will she escape? What will be waiting for her afterwards?
oh, I'm so heartbroken! Foss's behavior toward Lucy thus far did not in any way prepare me for him to change so much in this book and Lucy's love choice makes me even more heartbroken.
