Christy-Award winner Angela Hunt writes for readers who have learned to expect the unexpected in novels from this versatile author. With nearly six million copies of her books sold worldwide, she is the best-selling author of more than 165 works ranging from picture books (The Tale of Three Trees) to novels.
Now that her two children are grown, Angie and her husband live in Florida with Very Big Dogs (a direct result of watching Turner and Hooch and Sandlot too many times). This affinity for mastiffs has not been without its rewards--one of their dogs was featured on Live with Regis and Kelly as the second-largest canine in America. Their dog received this dubious honor after an all-expenses-paid trip to Manhattan for the dog and the Hunts, complete with VIP air travel and a stretch limo in which they toured New York City.
Afterward, the dog gave out pawtographs at the airport.
Angela admits to being fascinated by animals, medicine, psychology, unexplained phenomena, and “just about everything” except sports. Books, she says, have always shaped her life— in the fifth grade she learned how to flirt from reading Gone with the Wind.
Her books have won the coveted Christy Award, several Angel Awards from Excellence in Media, and the Gold and Silver Medallions from Foreword Magazine’s Book of the Year Award. In 2007, her novel The Note was featured as a Christmas movie on the Hallmark channel. Romantic Times Book Club presented her with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006, and American Christian Fiction Writers bestowed the same award in 2019.
In 2006, Angela completed her Master of Biblical Studies in Theology degree and completed her second doctorate in 2015. When she’s not home reading or writing, Angie often travels to teach writing workshops at schools and writers’ conferences. And to talk about her dogs, of course.
There is a connection between each of these stories--more than the ring but they can stand alone--if you dare! I learned a lot about pre-colonial America in these books. Also learned that emotions were just as vivid and real as in any contemporary story. Reading from one story to the next, I thought that you can't top this onr--but I was wrong, delightedly so. Worth reading again.
Angela Hunt has succeeded in making early Colonial history come alive by her portrayal of the people and the issues that influenced multiple generations of the "savages" compromising Colonial North America in the late 1500's through the late 1800's. It was during this time period that the die was cast that would mold racial relations in the United States up to the present day.

I have been blown away with this series. The realistic details of Precolonial America comes alive with exciting fictional characters. I experienced the horror of slavery and the moral decline that brought along with the hope of a nation’s birth. Wonderful!
These epic tales document the painful birth of modern America. The books follow the family lineage of the family Bailie, beginning with Roanoke VA and ending in Charleston SC. The author sites eyewitness accounts with historical facts, and adds a measure of ageless love, God's provision, and hope to America's shameful beginnings.
A five book series. 5000 pages but interesting. Historically enlightening and as a novel compelling. A couple situations are for adults only . I enjoyed reflecting on things about early America that I had never known or thought about.
I enjoyed the journey of a family’s legacy, calling, and their travails throughout generations. The depth of the characters and descriptions of colonialism, Native American life, and seafaring hardships kept me engaged and my imagination satisfied.
I had a real hard time getting into Roanoke, but once half way through, I so totally enjoyed the novels. They are truly wonderful, they taught, and satisfied. I would thoroughly endorse reading this series! A little bit of a slow start, but so worth it.
I've read much by angela hunt this series was one of best. Following the keepers of an heirloom wedding ring and their faith in God is a story with so many twists and turns it was an amazing ride. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up.
I found this history of early settlers, indians and blacks in America quite interesting. It was well written and kept my attention thru all five books.
I loved this series with its historical lessons intertwined with fictional and Biblical romance. I had a hard time putting them down. They gave a good balance of the good and the e I'll from both sides of the issues of indians vs colonists and slavery vs non-slavery. Very thought and heart wrenching.
Thoroughly enjoyed the whole series. I love historic fiction and this really brought in everyone's perspective on the "new world", religion, slavery, pirating, heritage. The characters were well rounded. It's one of those books where I will miss the characters.
Good historically, but story lines were very slow. I prefer more intense story lines, and read these at the request of my religious Sister-in-law. Jan Litvin
