Well, this book is for people like you. Bloggers that have a ton of potential but haven’t quite seen any promising results.
People that want to take their blog to the next level and get massive results.

Publishing my own words for the entire world to read? What if they hated me? What if no one liked what I had to say?
It was scary and intimidating.
What do I do differently today?

All from one little blog? Yes.
See, I used to be a casual blogger. I’d publish posts randomly whenever they came to me. I thought my posts were epic, but this strategy got me nowhere.
Once I finally gained some momentum, I never looked back. The road wasn’t easy, but I stuck with it. Along the way, I discovered a few simple methods and tricks.
It wasn’t long until I realized that it wasn’t as hard or scary as I thought. It was actually pretty simple.
And now, I make a living off of my blog.

This book, as one reviewer put it, is more of a what-I've-done than it is a how-to; that being said, however, there is a trove of good information within its pages, and it's a very quick read. The book targets the absolute beginner and discusses topics ranging from finding the time and motivation to blog, building one's confidence, and how to choose between the three most-prominent blog-hosting platforms. Later in the book, however, Mike gives a short overview of the more technical and complex aspects of creating and operating a profitable blog: namely conversions, building an email list, and generating traffic. To that end, the later chapters of the book raise issues that would be of benefit to anyone who blogs -- and would like to do so for money and/or for a larger audience.
I can't speak for others, but I was able to get through the book rather quickly -- in two sessions of about 20 minutes apiece. The reading is quite light, and Mike's tone is conversational, but there is a lot of repetition in the book, and there's a lot of personal anecdote in the place of more -- or more-detailed -- advice. For readers looking for motivation and for writers who are starting at the very beginning of their blogging career, Mike provides a useful primer; those with more than six months of experience should consult another book, or take a look at only the latter 3-4 chapters of this one.
Bottom line: it has its strengths and weaknesses, but it is a great place for the absolute beginner to find her footing.
I've been in digital marketing since 2003. I have purchased thousands of dollars in training and have tried many things. Not everything works, but the strategies in Your First $1k are sound. While a little light on the actual steps to take to achieve success in any of the areas discussed in the book, this is a great master list of things you need to tend to if you want to make money blogging.
To make up for the brevity in description, Mike shares additional resources where you go to learn more about important concepts like guest blogging, etc. It's a quick read and sparked my imagination on things I could do better in my own blogging efforts.
I would recommend this book to anyone who is new to blogging as well as to anyone that has been blogging for a little while and needs some structure and direction with it.
I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, through Reading Deals, so I could give an honest review.
This book took a few simple processes and dragged them out into a lengthy eBook. This could have been 20 pages, but everything had to be repeated 50 times. I did learn a few things, but this didn't teach me how to make 1k. It taught me how to monetize a blog, create a mailing list and get over writers block. I would recommend borrowing, but not buy this title.

Loved the book. It gave me a lot of helpful tips and tricks and motivation to actually get started on creating my blog. Plus it included some additional tips from some of the other books he's written that had some great ideas!
Free, useful tools and info. Can't speak highly enough about. Very informative and worth the fifteen to thirty minutes to read. May not get 1k from it but so worth the time.
