Rate this book
One name has emerged out of the last century to mean Einstein. In this book, Dr. Ken Gibson helps parents understand that there is a little bit of Einstein locked up in each of their children regardless of how they perform in school right now and how to unlock it. Dr. Ken Gibson is a pioneer, making current brain science extremely practical for parents as you'll soon discover.
Serving as the founder of LearningRx, Inc. and the nationwide system of LearningRx Training Centers, Dr. Gibson knows from firsthand experience that children and adults can learn faster, comprehend more, and get smarter. The cognitive skills training and cognitive skills-based instruction in reading, math, and learning readiness. Smarter begins in the brain...for everyone. Einstein didn't have a bigger brain than the rest of us, but he did have a significantly greater number of active synaptic connections in his brain. These neuronsynaptic connections became the network that produced his amazing intellect. Just as with Einstein, these connections form pathways in your child's brain that process and retrieve information, analyze variables, and apply logic and reasoning-and they can be developed. This book will show you how to literally transform your child's ability to learn and read...with lasting results.

This book is worth reading if you want an introduction to learning difficulties and how cognitive training can help/cure them.

However, the information on cognitive skills training is generalised. If you are looking for solutions you can apply at home with your own kids, you won't find them here. If you are thinking of taking your kid for professional cognitive skills training this would be useful.

An interesting book about the benefits of cognitive skills training in children. The whole purpose is to sell you on their very expensive Learning Rx programs, but the arguments for it really made common sense.

This is a straightforward look at cognitive skills training and how it is being used at LearningRx. Gibson reveals discoveries (circa 2007) in Brain Science in an easy-to-understand way using graphs, charts, and other visuals. This is not only for children; adults can improve their cognitive skills, as well. Just learning more about learning has helped me.

This book teaches you that you can become smarter and how. It does promote the program he started, LearningRx, but it does so for good reason. LearningRx's program has used these methods time and time again; and it is possible to make yourself smarter.

Awesome points made in this book, especially as a (former) special educator. I knocked a star off simply because of the "advertising" tone it gave off in many areas. Although, that is their idea: to show what Learning Rx does.

Gimmicky title and sales-pitch oriented. Great information in regard to neuroplasticity and cognitive training versus academic training
