Kate’s brother, Brady, calls her in a rush, urging her to meet him at their family’s cabin as soon as possible. Kate hears he’s clearly in distress, so she hurries to meet him. When she arrives however it’s not her brother who she stumbles on.
A man named Hunter receives a same sort call only he misses the tone of Brady’s voice. He arrives early at the cabin and he too does not meet the person he is expecting.....
And off you go to read what happens yourself :P

Deciding Fate is more than meets the eye, when I scanned through the blurb I thought I was going to be reading a “second chance romance” but it’s much more than that. It’s got a bit of mystery and suspense going on as well, which surprised me. It was a pleasant surprise, I’m glad that the story wasn’t all about two people reconnecting. That little bit sets it apart from other books in this genre. Not to mention the maturity of the characters, the way they handle what happened between them in the past. Made it an enjoyable to read.
I’m going to give it 3.5 stars

This story is filled with plenty of emotion, angst, suspense, secrets and a love story so powerful it brought a smile to my face.

Told from the alternating point of views of both Kate and Hunter, "Deciding Fate" is a thrilling romance novel about choices and consequences and second chances.

Hunter Simms and Kate Richardson each, unknowingly, fell in love with each other when they were in the second grade. Unfortunately, at the most important moments of Kate's life, it seemed Hunter was at the heart of her own miseries.
Years later, they reconnect when Kate's older brother, Brady, finds himself in trouble. Kate drops everything and rushes home to help only to run into the last person she ever expected to see... Hunter.
Hunter hasn't set eyes on Kate in 10 years. He's never been able to fully explain or apologize for all of the misperceived infractions Kate thinks he's committed against her. If only she would give him a chance to explain.
Will circumstances bring them together or are they destined to never be more than enemies?
I loved the dynamic between Kate and Hunter. Who hasn't often thought about "the one that got away" and wondered if a second chance would be enough to change fate? There was humor, sacrcasm, snarkiness and just enough childhood angst to make the characters and situation relatable. Definitely recommend!

I received a copy in exchange for my honest review…
What a page turner this one was… I’ve read other books by Tamra Lassiter, so I knew I’d like it, but I honestly loved it! It took no time at all to get drawn in, and it held on until the end of the book… can’t wait for the next one!
Hunter and Kate have known each other since the second grade, they have been in love with each other since then as well, but neither of them will admit it to each other or to themselves. I love the way the story puts them in each other’s path, and seeing each of them deal with their feelings was great to follow along with.
There’s some steamy parts, but it balances well with the storyline… there’s tons of family loyalty, a good bunch of mystery, small town familiarity, and a love story in amongst everything.
Definitely gets five stars from me! Xo

I love a second chance story that comes with some twists and misunderstanding ~ Tamra definitely delivers. She has written characters that are flawed yet lovable, brings us strong family relationships that can be envied and a story that holds your interest. While both Hunter & Kate are stubborn, you can feel the underlying draw toward each other they have had since their youth. At times you want to smack them in the head, tell them to just talk and make them listen. I would recommend this book to those who like a little mystery with their 2nd chances.

3.5 Stars!
I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.
Deciding Fate by Tamra Lassiter was a good one. I practically read it all in one sitting and was hooked. There was the perfect combination of angst, mystery, and love.
This was one of those “the one that got away” books where you couldn’t help but root for Hunter and Kate. Through multiple misunderstandings, the pair “hated” each other from 6th grade until now. But I loved them anyway.
I loved Hunter! He was sarcastic and just the perfect amount of a strong male lead.
“What kind of criminals wear khakis?”
And Kate was a fabulous heroine; she was strong and knew what she wanted. Refreshing!
“Now if the rest of Hunter would get with the program”
I loved the supporting characters as well!
“Granny whips a stainless steel flask out of her purse that has the words Keep on Truckin’ etched on the side.”
How could you not love a character like that?!

“Fate was against us—at least I always thought so. But it was fate that made me go to the cabin on Friday night. It was fate that Hunter was the one to find me there. Maybe fate’s been pushing us together all this time. I can’t just go around deciding what my fate will be. Fate does that for me.”

Deciding Fate. I enjoyed this book. I just love it how fate wants to intervene when it's least expected. I do believe that things happen for a specific reason which is why Kate and Hunter had crossed paths again after 10 years of being out of contact with each other. This book was about finding love where it was least expected. About trusting in your emotions especially when they matter the most. What I loved was how everyone knew of their feelings for each other before they both clicked. They needed to find out on their own. Which is the way it's supposed to be. Deciding Fate is based on love being found, family always being there and that fate coming at you like a freight train. Beautiful book.

Well, thought out, cleanly written romance that has an actual story. I've read so many of the popular "mommy porn" books lately, that this true romancnce is truly a breath of fresh air. Through flashbacks, we learn Kate and Hunter's history from sixth grade to present day. Their past is full of childhood hurt. But it must be true that you can only be hurt because you care. Brought together by fate, this inevitable couple have a pretty eventful road to togetherness. This is, plain and simple, a really good book!
Please note that the author was kind enough to gift a copy of this book to me and I have in turn left this honest review

I should start by saying I won this book in a giveaway, but I am always honest with my reviews no matter how I get the book. This book is very good. I like how the book alternates from Katie to Hunter's perspectives so you can see what the other person is thinking and feeling. This book has some adventure and just the right amount of angst to be compelling with out being over the top. The bottom line this is a love story and how like in life you can completely and sometimes continually misread another persons true intentions.
Great book, fast read, page turner.

enjoyed this story by Tamra. Hunter and Kate remind me of when the boy in school picks on you because he likes you. That what I enjoyed the most especially when they were stuck in the cabin set up by her brother. hunter has overcome much in his life and i loved Kate. they do need eachother even though it took then forever to admit it. Beautifully written and fun to read..cant wait to see whats happens next

I really enjoyed reading Deciding Fate. This story is about Hunter and Kate. The story is told by Kate and Hunter. They have loved each other since second grade, however, things happen along the way to make Kate hate him, so she thinks. Brady, her brother, is in trouble and she go home to help. Kate must decide whether she can to let go of the past and find love with Hunter.

I really enjoyed this book. I was surprised at how much I liked it. There were some funny parts as well as some serious parts. There was a lot of suspense. This was a story about Kate and Hunter; but all the other characters in the story were important to it. The story had a lot of twists and turns. I was surprised at what was found in the manhunt. Also, I didn't see the end coming until almost the end of the book. The book was well written. The story had a good pace to it. At no time did it feel rushed and I feel that it ended well. I hope to read more books from this author.

Kate and Hunter
An enjoyable read. A mystery and a romance. Two people who seemed to hate each other and hadn't seen each other for ten years meet again. They get involved in a case because she tries to help her brother. What I liked about this was that one has to keep reading to find out what this was all about.

Can’t wait to read more
Oh man..... another series I’m hooked on!!! Already read one book, out of order.... But since they’re each a standalone story, it just made starting at the beginning more interesting!! Plus there are twists and surprises you wouldn’t expect.

A terrifically entertaining and action packed story with enough emotional angst to keep you from setting it down instead of sleeping! Really loved Ms. Lassiter's characters and the suspense of who was who! Definitely recommended!!

2 1/2*
Simplistic writing. Some parts move at a good speed then it's just over. So many things did not make sense. This is a one and done for me as far as this series goes.

IMHO, this author beat her drum much too hard. The fact that one character "hated" the other intensely was repeated hundreds of times although it was clear there was no hatred involved. The plot tree had no branches, just one focused and highly-predictable trunk.

Truth
These characters work through their differences in an interesting fashion. They are grown but still feel as awkward as teenagers trying to understand their relationship. I the midst pic as that, there are mysteries to be unraveled. Interesting read!

Interesting story about Kate and Hunter, who've had a kind of love/hate relationship since they were kids.
There are two main things that I didn't like about this book. First, Kate seems clueless in knowing all that Hunter was going through with his shattered family growing up, and this is not addressed well. Still, she is s good person, and tries to be there for Hunter as he learns more about his father's death. The death, too, is never explained fully.
Also, I found the way some of Hunter's POV chapters were written did not ring true. "He" sounded too much like "she" as I read, especially with some of the sex scenes. As a cop and overprotective guy, though, it's all believable.
Nice story, a bit clumsy, but a good read.

Interesting fast paced read that will make you fall in love. From the start up to the last, I was hooked. This book is Kate and Hunter's story. The two has a past - in which Kate is mad at Hunter when they are still young. When Kate abruptly went back to their hometown, she cross-paths again with Hunter after long years of not seeing each other. When an unexpected event, with Kate being thrown into a life threatening situation, Hunter will do everything in his power to trust him and let her see that he is serious about her. Ms. Tamra did an amazing job in making this book full of surprises. There may not be that much of action - powow- but the story is still good.
