DEAD AND BACK is book #2 in the bestselling THE ZOMBIE CRISIS series, which begins with TWICE DEAD (book #1)--a free download!

With the world besieged by a zombie crisis, Commander Peterson stands as America’s last hope. Sent on an impossible mission, he has lost more than half of his elite military assault team in the past 72 hours. Low on ammunition and food, trapped in a basement with panicking civilians, their position is hopeless, surrounded by thousands of zombies. Worse, the men following him are losing faith in his command.

Yet despite it all, Peterson has only one thought in his mind: complete his mission or die trying. He knows they have a long road ahead to accomplishing their mission: they must break out of here, find a vehicle, make it to the coast, find a boat, and somehow make it to the island and secret lab—the last place on earth that might just have the answers…

Book #3 in THE ZOMBIE CRISIS will be published soon.

The date read is correct—I started and finished the book in the same day. It is a little shorter than the first, but that wasn’t really why. I loved the first book and tore through the second. I couldn’t wait to see where the story was going to go and what was going to happen. I think the first book was stronger in general, but the addition of civilian POV characters brought a different perspective to the whole thing. I liked that the main characters are all military, since most of the zombie books I’ve read are the stories of ordinary people learning to react to the apocalypse, and I like seeing the professionals take it on.

But adding the civilian voices also was good contrast, and a grounding point to the plot.

The very end reminded me somewhat of the scene at the WHO research center toward the end of World War Z (the movie). But there were some twists I definitely did not see coming, and while I mostly followed what was happening, I think there were probably things that I missed because I was reading so quickly. I think I have a guess about what the big secret Washington was keeping is, but I’ll have to wait for the third book to see.

And I REALLY WANT THAT THIRD BOOK.

Was okay

Honestly the first book was just okay but I wanted to read the second so I could what I thought was finish the series. The second one had better writing, but I feel like the author could’ve wrapped the first and second book up into one. I don’t feel like there was a need to make a second book with only 12 chapters. There were some spelling and grammar errors as well throughout the book.

I'm not sure what to say about this book. I loved it. It's strange like going into a different world and just when I was really enjoying it I blinked a woke up. I don't really want to go back to reality now. Can't wait for the next one to be published. I am most definitely a fan now. One of the best zombie books/series I have read in a while and I read a lot.

Read in 2 hours

Easy to read, lacks character development, left on a cliff hanger and unknown when next book will be out x

Wow! What a great zombie tale!

Just as fast-paced and action-packed as the first book, Dead Again/Twice Dead!
Can't wait to read what happens next!
Eagerly awaiting Book 3!

A bit disappointing.

The first book in the zombie crisis series was really solid. This book left a lot to be desired. I found it hard to like any of the characters and the storylines began to go a little soap opera. I love zombie novels that focus on a small tight knit group of soldiers like Extinction Age and the Arisen series. This was not that kind of book. It would have been a lot more enjoyable if it was a band of brothers fighting for survival instead of fighting amongst each other. I was rooting for several characters to bite the dust, never a good sign.

I rather liked this book. It was short and left off on a cliff hanger for the third book and that was not unexpected. For me this book was a pallet cleanser. I read it in just a couple of hours. As far as the Zombie quality, I have read better and I have read worse. It was a fun and quick and it would make a decent movie if Hollywood would stop rehashing old movies. (I know this was a copy and paste review of the first book, but I stand on my review.)

I highly recommend this book. The first book is great, and I got it for free on Amazon. In this series, there are strong characters, some really good action scenes and, most importantly, lots of zombies kills! Some people just don't understand this genre, however, zombie fans will love this book.

Short and focused

Book 2 brought new characters and new adventures with a couple surprises. Story is too short with a few editing mistakes.

DEAD and BACK #2

I have read both 1 & 2, and liked both. The #3 book that's been hinted at for a few years still hasn't come about. I'd completely forgot about a book 3, and what a shame that is. The author has a smooth writing style and I'd like to see another undead book from him. Maybe just finish this series. More story, longer yes?
