After leading the Destroyers through their worst season in football history, Sam Dumont gets traded to the Miami Surfs, and to top it all off, his estranged father has a heart attack.
Now he’s doing the last thing he ever thought he would do—going to Wolfe Creek, Utah. Maybe he knows he really does owe Roman Young a long overdue apology, but honestly, he’s mostly going because his shrink suggested it could help him get rid of the tiny panic attack problem he’s been having.
Instead of a simple in and out apology, he ends up with a fat lip, a baby shoved into his arms, and a bossy blond. As if that’s not enough of a shock, he finds himself ensnared by her voice and the country music she loves.
When Sam is given an opportunity to get back the only woman who’s ever walked away, he has to make a choice—lose everything he’s worked for…or Just Play.

A note from the author:

Thanks for visiting my Goodreads page.

I wanted to tell something meaningful about myself, but let's start with the important stuff--I love swoon-worthy heroes. The kind of heroes that are strong and would take a bullet for you, but also want to open your door and listen to you pour out your heart.

What else? I grew up moving. If you’ve read my books, you won’t be surprised by this. I have a lot of moving themes through my books centered around characters experiencing pain from someone moving.

It was hard. But, I believe there’s always a seed of good that comes out of everything hard, so I think the best thing that came from it was that I learned to love books.

And I had to learn a lot of mad skills on friend making. It gave me a love of people…good people, compassionate people. Interesting people of all kinds.

What else about me? I am a mother and wife! I have four amazing boys that are like little ninjas running around. I love them so much and I’m so grateful for my amazing husband who doesn’t get intimidated by all the billionaire men in my life.

I have a fierce love of my Savior, Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for Him and for the healing and forgiveness I’ve gotten to experience in my life. This is a theme in many of my books.

I love being an American. I am so proud of the men and women that support and preserve our freedom. This is another theme you will find in my books.

I am so grateful for my fans and for the support and love you all show me! Don’t stop reading!

Hugs-

Taylor

This was a really cute book. I'm glad we got to go back to Wolfe Creek for most of the book but also get some football at the very end. I always like it in series when 2 supporting characters get their own book.

Just Play: Book 3 Last Play Romance Series: A Bachelor Billionaire Companion: The Last Play Series is by Taylor Hart. It seems like the more of her books I read, the better they get. This series can be read out of order without losing any of its appeal; however, by the characters you may know the outcome of the other books. How they get to the end is what is important.
Sam Dumont was in Wolfe Creek, Utah to seek Roman Young out to apologize. He had broken up Roman’s marriage to Sheena and he felt terrible about it. They had been friends before that. Sam wasn’t sure what had overcome him but he knew he had to apologize. Before he could knock on the door, Roman opened it and came out on the porch carrying his daughter, Maddie. Roman was angry and after a few words back and forth, he punched Sam. Sam took it because he thought he deserved it. Then the two of them talked. Roman told him he had purchased 20% of the Destroyers’ franchise. Sam told him he was waiting to hear if Miami was going to give him a contract. He had known he wouldn’t stay with the Destroyers because he had such a terrible season. Before they got much further, Roman got a phone call that his son, Josh, had been hurt and was on his way to the hospital. Roman headed there immediately because his wife, Katie, was out of the country. He left Sam with his daughter, Maddie. That told Sam he was forgiven. Now to tend to Maddie. He had never taken care of a little girl before. Where did you begin? Food! Just after he fed Maddie, a woman walked in and began taking over. She was Tiffany Chance, a friend of Katie’s. What was going on? Why was Sam attracted to her?
This is a great book. I love the advice Sam’s father gave him- Just Play. It works.

Taylor Hart writes good clean Christian fiction, always consistent. Plenty of quick insta love in this one but it's what makes the story. There's no drag and it keeps the pages turning.

Refreshing to re-enforce morals that are quickly disappearing from society. I always appreciate the authors approach to her characters.

Fun story beginning in Utah with Sam showing up at Romans house to make amends. Tiffany is as would be expected extremely loyal to her best friends husband and gives Sam as much as she thinks he deserves. Great opening.

Another enjoyable novel by Hart! And while I really did enjoy this novel, a few things felt a little too over-the-top. However, those same things gave you that giddy/good feeling towards the end. I wasn't sure how I was going to like this novel, as Sam from Book 1 was the main character. However, Hart worked it all out and I enjoyed the characters, the redemption, and the romance!

Another fun read from Taylor Hart. This is book #3 in the Last Play series but you don't necessarily have to have read the first two books to enjoy this one. It reads well as a stand-alone. Of course, if you read the first book, then you'll definitely want to read this one as a follow up book....

The plot is well-constructed and the story flows well. The writing is easy to read and the dialogue is funny and real. This book, more than the others in the series I've read so far (I've read Last Play/book 1, The Rookie/book 2 and Second String/book 5) has a fairy tale-like quality to it where the famous football star sweeps the struggling artist off her feet and dazzles her. There is less of the love triangle thing in this book as well, which made me happy since I don't particularly care for them.

There is also a strong theme of redemption and second chances in this book that I appreciated.

Sam is more vulnerable than the other football heroes I've met in the series. He's thoughtful, kind, insightful, and ready to become a better man. His journey to finding himself again is riddled with pain, failure, self-doubt, and anxiety...but he gets to a good place with some help from Tiffany. Tiffany is such a darling - a loving, loyal, compassionate girl-next-door who has her own trust and self-doubt issues due to her past. Their relationship is deliciously romantic even as they're building a friendship.

I read this book through Kindle Unlimited. A review or a favorable review was not requested or required. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

This is my seventh Taylor Hart book. I have become a fan, but really believe she would be better served if she dumps her proof readers in favor of some who have an eye for detail. The typos are unneeded distractions. Unlike some other reviewers, my take is that this series is not so much about football as a sport as it is about football players as real, live human beings. If that is actually Taylor Hart’s objective then she has accomplished her mission. The books in the Last Play series are advertised as stand-alone books. However, the reader will benefit from reading the books in sequence. This is especially true for this offering where prior protagonists play major roles. One thing that impressed me with this book is that Taylor Hart did not follow the traditional romance book format. Too often I can almost predict the point in the story where the protagonists will have a manufactured misunderstanding in an attempt to create angst. Not so in this story. Instead, Ms. Hart tells a true to life story of two people falling in love and who sustain and support each other on their path to happily ever after. There were trials, of course, but they met them realistically. I was particularly impressed with one of the final scenes where Sam and Tiffany stand by each other in the face of a situation that had the potential to create a significant fracture in their relationship. Well done! Five stars for this outstanding contribution to clean romantic fiction.

Tiffany and Sam

Sam Dumont is a professional quarterback who has just been traded from his dream team. When they were rivals, Sam was caught cheating with Roman Young's wife. Sam went from winning a Super Bowl to playing about as lousy as a quarterback can play. Thus, the trade. Sam has been having panic attacks since "the incident" and has decided that he needs to apologize to Roman. When Roman meets Sam at the door he promptly punches Sam in the eye. When an emergency comes up Sam is left in charge of one-year-old Maddy. In walks Tiffany and their meeting doesn't turn out so well. Tiffany is a waitress at a local diner but has aspirations to be a country music singer. One night she finds out that Sam is a pretty good guitar player and they jam a little. From there things go a whole lot better for the two of them. Taylor Hart has another hit. You will really love the characters and the way love finds them.

Romance, laughs, and joy

Can a man who was betrayed by his best friend, forgive and become a brother again? Sure, it's a guy thing, but not until after Roman blackens Sam's eye then leaves him to cope with his infant daughter for several days. But Tiffany cannot see past his cheating, for she still burns over her own betrayal. It will take more than an apology and remarkable abs to win her.
Romance, laughs, and joy, this book has it all. I loved this story because it left me feeling good. It's characters delight, and the situations are real, well as real as multi-millions could provide.

This one wasn't my favorite of the series. I didn't like Sam's character. I realize people can change, but it seems like once a cheater, always a cheater. I just wouldn't be sure he wouldn't do it again somewhere down the road. I also didn't like all the focus on physical appearance. I agree that Sam had a nice body, but that seemed like it was all that was important. I did like that they had guitars and music in common. It was clean for the most part except for a naked Sheena toward the end of the book. I probably wouldn't read this one again.

Really good story

It was real and right to the point of how people use people for there own advancements in achievement and don't care really about the person they just care about themselves and use people and what the person who's being used went through with the user or the abuser mentally.

Easy read

This is a pretty fun series of books to read. The characters all intertwine and I like that about the story. They're also clean which is really nice and you don't have to worry about who's reading it.

Two people trying to survive the things that had happened in their lives, bring everyday life into perspective. Real life circumstances, excitement and daily fears along with real morals and wanting to do what is right. Very good story, hard to put down this book.

I haven't read the other books in this series so I felt like I was missing some back story. However, the plot moved quickly and the characters were likable. I loved that forgiveness played a huge role in this story. Enjoyable!

Excellent story!

Sam was amazing doing what he knew needed to be done. It wasn't an easy task. Having to apologize to Roman took a lot of strength. At Romans place is where he met Tiffany. Boy is she a character!

Sam Dumont cheated with Roman Young's wife and his moral failure led him into a downward spiral personally and professionally. He comes to Roman seeking forgiveness and while Roman decks him, he also forgives him as they both know the woman, Sheena, was a no-good cleat chaser. Then there is a medical emergency and Roman asks Sam to help him at home while he is away tending his son. When the neighbor next door, Tiffany, comes to lend a hand the romance begins with lots of conflict that eventually leads to love.
