REVIEW: MUTATION Z PROTECTING OUR OWN [Book Three

The third electrifying installment in the vividly exciting MUTATION Z series by author Marilyn Peake will have readers on their seats' s edge, as the onset of contagious disease reduces humans to survival state, and higher-order thought is subsumed by the struggle to live. Ms. Peake superbly personalizes the expanding plague, and the fear growing astronomically as certain beleaguered groups target those they believe responsible, determined on a bloody and tragic showdown.

Holy crap!

Just when you think things can’t get any crazier, they do. This is one intense series. I loved the first two books and this one is just as good, if not better.

Don’t count on your favorite characters surviving. I read this episode knowing anything could happen. But I wasn’t prepared for how things would go down.

And what’s this about protecting the zombies? What could be the motive behind that, I wonder.

Hang on to your butts, people. This is a boat load of trouble with an ending that will rock you to your core.

I don’t see how the author can make this series any more horrifying or emotional, but we shall see.

The story continues and gets more horrific with every page.

The monsters are not only zombies, but humanity when it lets fear take over.

In the opening scene, I breathed a sigh of relief when I felt the Dixon family dodged a bullet.

Well…

Hunter Morgan, the journalist striving to expose the truth of the zombies, has an emergency of his own.

The disease does not care if you are young or old, good or bad.

It is spreading and Hunter smells the RATS. His suspicions are growing and so are mine.

As the story develops, Marilyn Peake breaks my heart. Not everyone can live, I know that! But, damn it, why…

Fear can make people do things they never anticipated.

Zealots, hunters, and their victims. Who is good and who is bad?

I think stories like Mutation Z are food for thought. I always wonder what I would do if my life were threatened and I had to take action. Would I? Would you? And would it be the right kind of action. Would fear drive me? Would I sacrifice others for my own?

The Mutation Z series is a must read for horror and dystopian lovers everywhere. The story grows better and better with each novella.

I received a copy of Mutation Z: Protecting Our Own by Marilyn Peake in return for an honest review.

I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Here we follow the story of journalist Hunter, and add some more characters. The virus is spreading, stories of zombies and chupacabra's are running rampant. Militias are formed and chaos abounds!! Hunter's family is affected by the virus when his own daughter is rushed to the hospital. Hunter, his wife and unborn baby, and his daughter Sophie are quarantined. With no idea how Sophie contracted the virus, Hunter and his wife only can watch from a monitor set up for them and computers. When Sophie's infection progresses and reveals she turns as well, it becomes apparent that Hunter needs to get his family out of the hospital. Other's have the same idea and have hatched a plan to get them out.

There is so much more to this book. You will have to purchase it to find out, but you won't be sorry.

I never was one for zombie books but these have changed my view!!

This is #3 in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It has some plot twists you know are coming, but still, they sure surprise you.
Then there are the ones you don't see coming.
These are the ones that make this a fantastic series.

This third installment in the Mutation Z series, which will keep you on the edge of your seat. The devastating virus hits home for Hunter when his daughter mysteriously becomes ill. Taking the necessary measures, Hunter and his wife take their daughter to the hospital to determine what is causing her illness only to find out that she has contracted the virus. Now Hunter is faced with defending his daughter from the renegade Zombie eradicator, Clay Dixon. Now to protect his family, infected or not, Hunter must get his family out of the hospital and go on the run. All the while, Hunter must protect his family from the other "zombies" in the world, the breakdown of civilization, law and order, and find a way to survive.

Marilyn Peake's series is not just about zombies. It broaches on the subject of the possibilities of what could happen if a real life pandemic occurs. What happens when a medical disaster happens on such an epic scale? How would we survive the breakdown of our government? How can we or would we protect our families from the infected and/or fanatics of the world? Gets you thinking. Great story and characters. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

As the crisis continues war breaks out between militias and those seen as protecting the newly transformed zombies. Hunter Morgan, whose daughter has somehow been infected by a variant of Mutation Z, finds himself in the crosshairs of Clay Dixon, a militia leader. With a near breakdown of law and order, Morgan, now allied with survivors of a government test lab in Liberia, must go on the run with his family if they are to survive—if anyone is to survive.
Mutation Z: Protecting our Own by Marilyn Peake is not the usual zombie apocalypse story. Instead of focusing on shambling zombies roaming the night eating human brains, the author shows how zealots, unregulated government actions, and corporate greed can all contribute to a breakdown of order in a society. She also shows how a few individuals with strong spirit can fight back.
Another interesting addition to the Mutation Z series that ends of something of a cliffhanging note—now the author will have a challenge to deliver a satisfying ending to this series—or, will she?

okay this is a really really quick read. It is because it is a very short story and also because this is just a really wow read. I will not write to much about this novella because it is short and I don't want to spoil it.

This is, so far the best instalment in this series. I really loved the depth and the turn the story took. I don't have to say that I one-clicked the fourth instalment after finishing this one. I love that this has a better and deeper story than the second instalment. The only things I don't like is that it was short. I want more so off to the fourth :)
