British comic book writer, Ben McCool has gone from selling comics to writing them. He has written for Justice League: Unlimited and Negative Burn and is now working on the forthcoming graphic novel NEVSKY (April 2012). McCool is engaged to Heidi MacDonald, whom he lives with in New York.

Born and raised in Birmingham, England, Ben McCool was a long time fan of US comics. He first began to work with comics when he was employed by Nostalgia & Comics in his home town. There he met and became good friends with the Hitman artist John McCrea and began to learn more about the art of writing comics. Since then McCool has moved to New York, where he lives with his fiancé Heidi MacDonald.

He has worked with DC Comics on Justice League Unlimited, plus also in DC's creative services/licensing departments. There, McCool has been in a steady working relationship and come into contact with many other creators. It has been a launch-pad to his freelance writing career, which has led to the creation of Choker with artist Ben Templesmith through Image. This will be previewed in the upcoming Liberty #2 anthology, benefiting the CBLDF, and also featuring creators such as Neil Gaiman, Jim Lee, Dave Gibbons, Gail Simone and Tim Sale.

Outside of comics, Ben McCool has also written for the gaming website UGO.com, and various bits & pieces for 20th Century Fox (including interviews, junkets & promotional writing).

Ah.. Grumpy cat how you have permeated my life. You are the favorite animal of my 10 year's world. There is a poster in her room of all the "expressions". Anywho. I read this when it came up on netgalley for review. Its a comic book style with separate stories. So each story is a couple pages then the next one is a different story/situation. Some are really funny and others fell kind of flat for me. I adore Grumpy cats snark and sarcasm but she comes off really just mean sometimes. Also.. I know Grumpy cat is a she but seriously I still think of her as a HE which drives my kids nuts.
So the artworks is good. Lots of color and big easy panels. Easy to follow. I think perhaps this is made for late elementary to middle school kids.
I did read this on loan from netgalley in exchange for my honest review.

I saw this yesterday. Read it quickly. Well, it is only about 26 or so pages. I forget how many stories there were, but I found them amusing. There's the story involving Pokey and Grumpy cat finding a treasure map and going to a haunted house. And then there's the story of Grumpy cat and Pokey as superheros.

I though this comic was very cute (as a fan of Grumpy Cat). There are several stories and the artwork is different for each one. Can't wait for the next issue!

It was pretty good. The mini stories were funny in places & sarcastic in others. Reason why I didn't give it five stars was because of the grammatical screw ups. Not many but enough to annoy me.

Cute story

What can I say, it's just an enjoyable read. It made me recall the joy I had with comic books as a kid.
