The Missing Bride starts in Boston, where Lily Solomon plans her escape from an arranged marriage to one she feels is right for her to Lee Anderes in Lovelass, Colorado. She finds the man she feels God has made for her, a happy marriage and freedom from the control of her family and the evil Edgar Carrington.

In The Missing Bride we have a sweet, strong and caring woman win her freedom, a good man to become her husband. She leaves behind a controlling family and very evil man that wants to marry her for her father's money. Other characters add color and show how people lived that worked hard to settle the western states. I love a good historical romance and enjoyed this one based on Christian values.

Tish Davis is a new author for me, I have never read one of her works before this current novel; however, I must admit that I have not been disappointed and I will definitely read more of works if given the chance! "The Missing Bride" has been excellent and very well written with the story-line developed and life-like; not many authors can make their characters step off the page as Ms. Davis has done.

"The Missing Bride" is the tale between handsome store owner Lee Anders and the beautiful mail-order bride Lily Solomon. When planning their futures, neither had thought they would write a company to help them find their spouses, but that is want has happened when both are faced with difficulties that they cannot escape. From a loved stricken woman to a ruthless man, both have a dangerous past that only God can deliver them from.

Lee has been pressured by a childhood friend for years, with gossip and manipulation the main attacks against him, with the hopes of one day making her his wife. On the other hand however, Lily has been sheltered her entire life until the time came for her wealthy father to marry her off, too bad he wanted her married to wolf in sheep's clothing. Can these two young individuals overcome their troubled pasts to make way for their future? Is running away without anyone knowing the best option?

I highly recommend this novel by Tish Davis. Love and the faith in Christ is written and showed through each word that was written! You can really feel the love that these character had for the Lord and that makes the story that much more special and dear to my heart. You will be disappointed if you choose not to read this narrative.

The Missing Bride

This was a heartfelt Christian love story. Lily felt sheltered all her life and never heard. Her family is set on her marrying a wolf in sheep’s clothing (Edgar). Lily sees through him and secretly makes plans to escape Boston to avoid the wedding. She becomes a mail order bride. Great storyline.

“The Missing Bride” by Tish Davis was a typical mail-order bride novel. That’s not to say that is was a boring read though. It’s just that the reader could almost predict what would happen next.

In order to keep women from pestering him to marry, Lee Anders advertises for a mail-order bride. I guess my question here is: how is that any different from marrying someone you know? I would think it very risky to take a chance on someone sight unseen.

Lily Solomon is being forced to marry a colleague of her father’s, one who is not what he really is in front of her parents. To them he is courteous and gracious, but with Lily, he is possessive, abusive and conniving. She knows that if she marries him, her live will be a misery, so she decides to answer Lee’s ad for a mail-order bride. Even though she has been raised in gentility, she will now have to work harder than ever before. Can she change her life and make a good marriage?

I found the characters to be very likable and the plot to be interesting, even though it is predictable.

Interesting from beginning to the end of story

Lily left home and went to Colorado to marry a stranger to keep from marrying a horrible man named Edgar. She fell in love with this man, Lee. Edgar came for her and took her back to Boston to her family, after shooting Lee. He was determined she would marry him finally. Edgar would let nothing stop him from getting her family's money and all their assets by marrying Lily. Read to see if he can get Lily's parents to agree with him.

Lily Solomon is supposed to marry Edgar,a man who works for her father. He is a terrible, mean man and basically orders her to marry him. Unfortunately, he shows a different side of himself in front of her parents. Lily cannot abide the idea of being married to him, especially after he says and does something that makes her fear for her life. With the help of friends, she replies to a mail-order bride ad and travels to meet him. They fall in love, but in the meantime, Edgar is paying people to find out information and then travels to kidnap her. Her new husband is shot and Lily can't get away from Edgar. When he returns her to her parents, expecting them to be overjoyed and fall in line with his plans. Very satisfying ending.

This was ok

This story was just ok for me. I think effort to keep things "clean" caused a complete disconnect in the plot. There is all this attention on stolen kissers and falling in love, and come to find out they had been making babies all along. Lily was also shown as over sheltered but suddenly is cheaply completely capable of running a frontier home. Just too many inconsistencies. I won't be reading further in the series.

A sweet romance

Falling in love in God's timing is a beautiful things, as the characters in this story find out. Yet even though you are in love, there is still evil in the world, & bad things still happen. Will faith in God, & abiding love be enough when all hope seems lost? Find out in "The Missing Bride" by reading it for yourself!

A realistic view into the struggles of western mail order brides

Tish Davis reminds us of how much women's rights have improved since 1890! Read how God answers the prayers of both Lee and Rose. Rose's weaknesses become strength when Lee and she rely upon God for his protection, peace and provision. God also restores the relationship between Rose and her father!

Decent storyline

This was an interesting enough storyline, but there were a few editing issues that needed correction. There were some noticeable usage issues and the voice felt backward at the beginning of the book. The book did get better as it went on.

Courageous lady

I love the storyline particularly that the bride stood against all odds. However, her father’s reaction was completely a surprise to me. I thought we will be mad, but he is a kind father.

Nice story

I enjoyed the character development arcs of the main characters. The suspense was well-written. I felt like the characters repeated themselves a little too often. The many side characters were well-developed and brought in at the perfect time.

A new author for me and I loved this book! I’ve always enjoyed well-written mail order bride books and this is no exception. Lily is trying to escape an arranged marriage and basically runs for her life into a perfect strangers arms.

The Missing Bride is the first book in the Christian Brides Historical series. Set in Colorado in 1890, this intriguing mail-order bride novella kept my interest from start to finish. A well-paced plot, memorable characters, sweet romance, and a strong faith thread make it an enjoyable, inspiring read. If you are looking for a quick, satisfying western romance story, try this one.

An enjoyable book! I loved seeing how Lily grew in her self-confidence, as well as in her trust of Lee. The characters all felt realistic. I will definitely read more of Tish Davis’s books.

Cute story

Lily is as far from brave as her upbringing made her. Never permit to make a decision on her own becoming a mail order bride tests her in every way.

Needed better plotting and editing

Cute premise, but didn’t work for me. I liked most of the characters, but not everything was tied up at the end before the epilogue.

This was a nice clean historical romance with a bit of intrigue. If you like details about romance over details in the bedroom this is for you. I enjoyed it thoroughly and look forward to the next book. The characters are believable (most of them) and I hope they don't completely disappear during the series. It is easy to get attached to them and I enjoy reading about people who not only fall in love but also have a strong belief in the goodness of our Lord and Savior, it adds a very nice touch to the sacred institution of marriage.
