The adaptation of Fight Club was a flop at the box office, but achieved cult status on DVD. The film’s popularity drove sales of the novel. Chuck put out two novels in 1999, Survivor and Invisible Monsters. Choke, published in 2001, became Chuck’s first New York Times bestseller. Chuck’s work has always been infused with personal experience, and his next novel, Lullaby, was no exception. Chuck credits writing Lullaby with helping him cope with the tragic death of his father. Diary and the non-fiction guide to Portland, Fugitives and Refugees, were released in 2003. While on the road in support of Diary, Chuck began reading a short story entitled 'Guts,' which would eventually become part of the novel Haunted.
In the years that followed, he continued to write, publishing the bestselling Rant, Snuff, Pygmy, Tell-All, a 'remix' of Invisible Monsters, Damned, and most recently, Doomed.
Chuck also enjoys giving back to his fans, and teaching the art of storytelling has been an important part of that. In 2004, Chuck began submitting essays to ChuckPalahniuk.net on the craft of writing. These were 'How To' pieces, straight out of Chuck's personal bag of tricks, based on the tenants of minimalism he learned from Tom Spanbauer. Every month, a “Homework Assignment” would accompany the lesson, so Workshop members could apply what they had learned. (all 36 of these essays can currently be found on The Cult's sister-site, LitReactor.com).
Then, in 2009, Chuck increased his involvement by committing to read and review a selection of fan-written stories each month. The best stories are currently set to be published in Burnt Tongues, a forthcoming anthology, with an introduction written by Chuck himself.
His next novel, Beautiful You, is due out in October 2014.

Can't wait for all ten issues to come out, this will be epic in all sense of the word, building on Fight Club and the movie, this is another avenue of being entertained through visual and oral representation.

Unlike the other Free Comic Book day comics I read this year, nothing about this one grabbed me, and I say that as a huge fan of Fight Club and a number of other earlier works of Chuck Palahniuk.

I really am not impressed. I felt like it was dry and short. Definitely not as good as the book but it wasn't horrible either.

So I’ve never watched Fight Club. I’ve never read any of the comics. I’ve never seen any television show, anything of the sort, so this is very much my very first ever look into the series and franchise. If this is even related to the movie, I would have no idea. This is issue 0 in a ten part series called Fight Club 2, apparently one of the most anticipated comic series of the year, (2015), written by Chuck Palahniuk, and named in ComicBook.com’s Top 10 Comic Events We Can’t Wait For in 2015.
Honestly, I didn’t expect to like this at all. Despite a lot of stuff I read and watch, I never pegged this to be a sort of thing I would enjoy. Within the first few pages of the artwork, I didn’t think I would enjoy this. The art didn’t seem interesting and the start of it just seemed horrible. However, as the plot line went on, I found myself more and more interested and before I knew it, I was at the end of the comic. (At 52% of the damn book, can people stop chucking three previews in one comic book, I just want to read the ONE comic advertised.)
This really gripped me, and I’m definitely interested in reading Fight Club 2, my interest is definitely peaked.

I loved fight club. Just as it was. It's ending was perfect. Why did I read this? Because I'm human and if I like something and they give me more I'm gonna wanna read it. I liked this. It wasn't amazing but as an introduction to what I'm going to assume is a series of comics, it has certainly peaked my interest. I'm not sure if I'll go out of my way to pick these up but you never know.

Picks up where the novel ended. Seems to be trying to do several things at the same time:
- to sum up everything in a hurry in a short number of pages, for those that did not read the book or did not see the movie
- to bridge mediums
- to create narrative alternatives to go to, going back in time, setting patterns
- creating a style
For now, I am giving this a chance.
The movie and the book, for me are two very completelly different brilliant master pieces. With different choices, even plot wise. And most of all in terms of atmosphere and style. They both work.
This first issue seems rather juvenile. But I concede that it might be my inflated expectations (from reading very recently the novel) and finding out that Palahniuk did write the graphic novel too. Let's read on.

Bullet Review:
I didn't know a Fight Club sequel was a thing. Is it a thing? It's not a thing for me - maybe because I'm a heathen and only watched the movie.
The Goon - ehhhh, could be worse!
The Strain prequel - again, could be worse.
Honestly, I felt the Fight Club excerpt was the worst of the bunch. But then, I'm pretty sure I'm a robot, so take that how you will.

After I stopped fangirling and calmed down enough to read, this was the first thing I picked up after free comic day.
As I was reading, I gasped and I squealed while my husband gave me the strangest looks.
I couldnt get enough. Now I must wait and wait until the 27th to get the full real deal.

So what did I expect from free comic day edition? The Fight Club part was amazing but I wasn't a fan of The Goon or The Strain.

Not a bad start, fast paced and solid writing. If it is possible I would like to read the following issues.

Half full
The comic had three stories to it. The first one fight club started almost midway but still tried to clue in the readers to a bit what is happening and then again it ends so abruptly that for someone who have picked randomly would find it completely unsatisfactory and incomplete. The second one was better start and end to it but then there were certain details that were lacking which again made it in a way incomplete. Also on personal level I didn't like the illustrations of the second story
Out of all the third book was far better . Yet the ending messed it up and leaving it midway

Fight Club 2 #0: Has promise actually, though I've not read good things about the main series. Not convinced by the artwork either.
The Goon: Interesting art style and strong characters, I think this could be an enjoyable series. There's an element of humour here too which is nice.
The Strain: Another one that has potential, but I found the writing to be quite pompous. Striking artwork was a plus.
2.5 stars, but as it's free I gave it 3.

Θα είμαι ειλικρινής: ΔΕΝ έχω διαβάσει το "Fight Club", το μυθιστόρημα που γέννησε την ομώνυμη κινηματογραφική ταινία (ούτε αυτήν έχω δει, απ' ότι θυμάμαι), αλλά η ιδέα ότι η συνέχεια της ιστορίας ενός βιβλίου θα είναι μια ιστορία εικονογραφήφησης (κόμιξ) μ' έκανε ν' αγοράσω αυτό το μηδενικό τεύχος της σειράς.
Οι πρώτες εντυπώσεις μου είναι άριστες. Έχω την αίσθησι πως θα είναι ωραία ιστορία, με σύνθετους χαρακτήρες, κι ελπίζω πως θα μπορή να σταθή μόνη της, χωρίς να χρειάζεται κάποιος να γνωρίζει το μυθιστόρημα. Ανυπομονώ για τα επόμενα τεύχη!!!
I'll be honest: I have NOT read "Fight Club", the novel that gave birth to the homonymous cinema film (which I haven't watch neither, if I remember well), but the idea that the story of a fiction novel continues in the story of a comic book made me buy this issue zero of the series.
My first impressions are excellent; I've the feeling that it'll be a nice story, with a set of complex characters, and I hope that it'll stand on its own, without a need for knowing the novel. I look forward for the next issues!!!

En este punto debo decir que nunca había leído un solo comic. Jamás me interesaron, y de hecho se me hacían un poco bobos, pero creo que podría acostumbrarme a leer uno que otro en algun momento, se te van como agua.
Esta novela gráfica es la continuación de "El club de la pelea" (del libro, no de la pelicula). Y narra la historia de Sebastian (por fin sabemos el nombre del protagonista) diez años después.
Se ha casado y tiene una vida infeliz a base de medicación... ahora tiene un hijo, y todo marcha... jodidamente normal, hasta que Tyler regresa...
La historia la leí en un día, el comienzo es desbordante, muy Palahniuk, muy intenso, pero poco a poco se cae (sí, justo como en la precuela) y pronto la ficción se le sale de las manos con situaciones realmente inverosimiles.
Opino justamente lo mismo de este que de la precuela.
Es excelente para pasar el tiempo, y puedo quitarme la espina de haberlo leído. El transcurso, ni el final fueron mis favoritos. La historia tenía más...

Está muy bien todo. Aunque tuve un ligero problema: ¿Por qué empieza en el edificio al igual que el libro, pero saca su telefono, llama a Marla y ésta le cuenta su estado? Después lo de su muerte ridícula, Tyler no le da permiso para morir tan patéticamente, y al final en el hospital, justo como acaba FC. Esta muy raro todo eso, pero al no leer este, no entenderías bien el principio de Fight Club II.

Of the new comics, Goon seems to be fun, although I won't spend money on it. I had great expectations from Guillermo del Toro's The Strain, but it felt too generic.

That was the best comic of this year's Free Comic Book Day. But when I first saw it I thought there is a whole Fight Club story in it. The other Goon and Strain stories were really unnecessary. I mean wish they would complete that Fight Club story quickly but that's not possible for sure..
