About the Fall: A Romance Novella

Rate this book
Can true love really conquer all?

Casey was the golden boy. A former quarterback. Painfully handsome. And used to getting whatever he wanted.

Miranda was the one girl who wasn't impressed. Beautiful. Quick-witted. Sharp.

After a bizarre first meeting, and despite her obvious dislike for him, something between them clicks.

But Miranda has a secret. And it could destroy everything.

Told from Casey’s point of view, About the Fall is a gut-wrenching romance novella about first love, heartbreaking truths, and the kind of loss that changes you forever.

This book will swell your heart. Break it. And then piece it back together.

If you're looking for a love story that can skillfully press both your feel-bad and feel-good buttons, this is the book for you. It's a short fast read, but warning: its impact may linger long after you finish.

Casey was the star quarterback for his college team until health issues forced him out of the game. Even so, his former teammates continue to include him in their wild frat parties, and he doesn't have any trouble whatsoever hooking up to have a meaningless fling with whichever pretty girl happens to catch his eye, so off the field, he's still a major player. Good grades and the good things in life have always come easily for him, and his path forward to success is pretty much guaranteed. But for now... he's all about having meaningless fun.

Amanda is one of the prettiest girls on campus, but she doesn't easily succumb to Casey's flirtation and cute smile. In fact, she's a wee bit rude. Nothing has ever come easily for her, and she's desperately aching to find answers to give her life some meaning.

She enters his life like a bright comet in a night sky, and things are never the same for either of them. In the short time they have together, they give each other meaning, and she finds the life answers she so desperately needs.

This story is told in a unique manner, and it'll grab your attention from page one. What's more, it won't let go. It might break your heart a little, and you may even shed a few tears, but in the end, I think you'll be glad to have read it.

This was such a sad book.
Trigger warnings: death, suicidal talk, cancer… love.
It doesn’t have a happily ever after. Poor Casey, he only loved her for a short while, actually no, he loved her long after… it.
This is not for the faint of heart but it’s definitely recommendable.
I don’t know how Rose brought it to life, so raw and emotional. I dread to think how.
But there’s just something about the novella that feels so unfinished, incomplete and upsetting. Maybe it’s because it’s just a really short story or maybe it the unhappy ending but I don’t know. However, the pacing of the story was incredible, a huge job well done to Chai Rose.
Now it may be a short story but its impact lingers longer than you’d hope.
Xoxo…

Wow !!! I could not put this book down

This brought out some feelings of death and what I want out of life. To one day be loved by the one man that means the most to me. To live each day to the fullest and to make him happy. You never know when God takes you - just do what you love doing.

It was worth the read.

I almost stopped reading the book when it open with impression that the character was committing suicide. But keep going and found it was worth my time. Death is hard for all of us no matter the age. Bare with it and read it to the in end...

A beautiful, well written love story with real meaning. Yesterday morning my sister,59 yo died of cancer. Having about 200+ books to read on a flight, I chose this story.

Gives such insight of the books meaning, provides such warmth and happiness from a horrible killer, I actually feel relief that such goodness can be possible. Loved the story and method of story telling of this exceptional author.
