Finn's story picks up just before Memphis and Tally's ended in book one. Right off the bat, there's heat and tension between Finn and Sonya. Finn can't put his finger on it but her mere presence instantly gets under his skin. So much so that he's filled with both urges of desire and hate. He's definitely not Team Sonya, in the beginning.
This tension gave a great start to Finn and Sonya's tale. Sexual tension and angst was at a high from the start of page one. Eventually they can't fight their urges; which sparks a relationship that neither of them planned for. But, at Sonya's request, it's kept on the DL. She's worried it will jeopardize her new job and she doesn't want an incident from her past to come to light and take away from her independence and all the hard work she's put forth.
Finn was mostly the serious one of the band. He's all about the music and never really gave in to the hype of rockstar life. Sonya was ambitious. Her initial meeting with the band got off to a rocky start because her drive got her mixed up in Stevie's antics (you've gotten to know her if you've read Memphis Black). This only drove Sonya to work harder so she can prove herself since being given an opportunity she couldn't pass up.
I will admit, there was a point of disconnect, for me. I can't exactly pinpoint it but it did happen for a moment. Slowly but surely, the storyline pulled me back in and I was back in love with the characters. I'm still a huge fan of the guys from S.T.D. and love getting little cameos from my Steel men, when they pop up. Xavier and Tealyn are just as adorbs as ever.
I'm so looking forward to River's story. I have a feeling his is going to be more intense and emotional...especially with how things were left for him at the end of this book.
