So I have read two of the stories in this set so far. I finished the story by Deanna Chase, and the one by Tonya Kappes, and they were both amazing. Deanna Chase takes us back to New Orleans to see Pyper as she is about to take part in a parade. There really never is a dull moment in Pyper's life, and Deanna Chase does a spectacular job of putting a lot of excitement into this short story. Tonya Kappes takes us back to Whispering Falls as the town prepares for their big celebration, as well as June and Oscar's wedding. I love Whispering Falls, and Halloween is my favorite time to visit. Kappes' detailed descriptions build a very rich and vivid landscape for the latest troubles that threaten to ruin June's big day. The colorful characters and secrets once again make for a magnificent story! I'm willing to bet the other stories in this set are going to be great as well. This seems to be the perfect set of stories for this time of the year. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Spell of the Ball is an anthology of 8 different short Halloween stories written by couple of my favorite authors and got introduced to some new ones too.. In this anthology will be able to read Spirts, Hurricanes, and the Krewe Of Ghoul by Deanna Chase: Cute little Halloween story that is about Pyper Rayne's and her small town. Pyper and her friends will conquer some vampires or become theirs forever... My favorite is Ida May...
Next is The Witch's Halloween Hero by Kristen Painter: A young witch Corette Williams, encounters some bumps in her spell casting and ends up casting the wrong spell. If the spell is not broken by Halloween's eve she will no longer remember the one that she loves. It is all up to the one she loves Bartholomew Stanhill to break the spell.. Will he be able to?
The third book is Bad Moon Rising by Michele Brardsley: In this book we have wizards, demons and demon Hunters.. Oh My... Angelica Mortis encounters a some difficult decisions and faces her past secrets unravel in front of her.. Will she be able to keep them in the past or have to face them? Had a little hard time following along two different stories.. Don't know what was missing...
Forth we have A Charming Death by Tonya Kappes: In this little love story we have a wedding on Hallow's eve.. Just love weddings... But June and Oscar's families are split on what ceremony to have a good sider or Dark sider.. Which will they have? Someone is trying to ruin their wedding, will these to be able to figure out the family drama before its time to walk down the isle?
Fifth we have Mission Impawsible by Melanie James: This is by far my favorite book of the anthology, but I have also been following along with Kelly and her gang sing the beginning with the Accidental Leigh books.. Melanie never disappoints.. Kelly and the gang do what they do best, get into some Magical Trouble. Will they be able to undo the witchy troubles before its to late? Will Kelly be able to step up and take control of the gang and save her handsome were-bear?
The 6th is One Charmed Evening by Rose Pressey: LaVeau is the underworld Halloween leader that encounters some strange things when ghost and magic intertwines together.. Will they be able to get the situations under control to finish the ceremony? Which of the brothers will be nominated Coven Leader?
The 7th is Catatonic by Liz Schulte: There is something strange going on.. Women are falling asleep but not waking up what could the problem be? Bounty hunter Femi is on the case.. Will she be able to figure out the weird things that are happening? Will she do what she never thought she would do for the human race? Will Femi be hero that is needed for the humans?
The final book of the anthology is Desperate Housewives of Olympus by Saranna DeWylde: Goddess Hyacinth has encounters some heated situations... Will she be able to put out the fire and take control of her own destiny? Can she get the cold reluctant Boreas to come around?

My Reviews are for the following books. Although all of them are very good some needed some more editing work.

Spirits, Hurricanes, and the Krewe of Ghoul by Deanna Chase
Fantastic and oh so Funny story here. We get witches, wizards, and crazy vampires. Oh and Ida May the crazy ghost.
The Vampire Carver needs a bride and it's all hands on deck for Ida May and Pyper and the other ladies who have been duped. Julius also makes it to the party to lend his help.

The Witch's Halloween Hero by Kristen Painter
Funny cute short story.
A spell goes wrong and memories fade. Can they be reclaimed? Her daughter and friends have cast a spell and now Corette does not remember the love of her life Stanhill. A hero yes that is what witch Corette needs on the night of Samhain but will she get him? And can it be done before midnight when all will cease to return. Stanhill truly loves Corette and he knows she loves him but can he help her to remember?

Mission Impawsible by Melanie James
Kelly and her man bear shifter Gabe are in a huge pickle in this story. Of course, witchcraft plays a part and it is never good.
Gabe is a shifter but no one in town knows. But all things may come out as a few more bear shifters are in town and a crazy doctor may break the secret.

I have to be honest and say that I mainly bought this book "Spell Of The Ball" because of the story "A Charming Death" by Tonya Kappes. I absolutely love her books and this story is from her Magical Cures Mystery Series which is my favorite. As usual - I loved it! Tonya has a wonderful talent for describing scenery and everything that happens in her novels and this was especially fun in this story because of all of the Halloween decorations that filled the streets of Whispering Falls.(I felt like I was there!) The ending made me teary eyed and I can't wait to see what is in store for June,Oscar and all of the other fun characters in Whispering Falls. If you haven't read any books in this series, I highly recommend it. Now I look forward to the rest of this book and reading some stories by "new to me" authors.

I originally wanted to read this anthology solely for CHARMED TO DEATH by Tonya Kappes, as I wanted to find out whether or not June and Oscar would be able to have the wedding ceremony they wanted, rather than caving in to the pressure from the aunts. Once again, Tonya did not disappoint. Whispering Falls and all its unique citizens are as entertaining as ever, and we're given a look into what the next book will hold in store as well.

After reading Tonya's story, I went on to finish the entire anthology, and discovered some new paranormal series I want to catch up on very soon. The only story which wasn't really my style is the last one, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES OF OLYMPUS...but if paranormal erotica interests you, be sure to check that one out.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The first story I read was Tonya Kappes A Charming Death, and what a great read it is! Perfect for Halloween. I adore the town of Whispering Falls, I would love to visit, and do some shopping at all of the great stores. The descriptions made me feel as though I was there. I loved the wedding of June and Oscar, I actually got teary eyed at one certain part. I cant say which one, you have to read it for yourself! I also want to add that Mr. Prince Charming is one of my favorite characters, I love the presents he brings to June. I am also intrigued by the yellow ball. I thought that was a great addition to the story, and I hope that it continues with the next book. My only problem with this story, is it ended too soon!! I cant wait for the next book in the series.

I originally read this because I ADORE Kristin Painter's Nocturn Falls series, and The Witch’s Halloween Hero is yet another notch on her belt. This short story took us further into the lives of Corette and Stanhill and expanded on their story a little more. If you've read the previous Nocturn Falls books you saw them only in relation to the other characters, but this short is all their own! There's witchcraft, spells gone awry, and true love... what more could you ask for in a story?
I got a bonus when I found out Michele Bardsley had a short story in the book as well. Bad Moon Rising introduces demon hunter Angelica Mortis, her cross dressing BFF Graddock (Graddie), and their business Demon Hunters. I'm so looking forward to reading more about them!

I received an advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Spell of the Ball is an anthology of various stories by some of the biggest names in Paranormal Romance. Kristen Painter, Michele Bardsley, Tonya Kapes, Deanna Chase, just to name a few. Although it would be impossible to please every single person with eight different stories, it’s hard to find fault with this line-up of heavy hitters.

A story about restoring your forgotten love set in a town where it’s Halloween 365 days a year? A new series about Demon Hunters? A wedding? There is something for everyone in this Halloween-themed book. Snap this up, and devour with your favorite chocolates.

This is a terrific collection of Halloween themed short stories from some great series! All of the stories will quickly grab your attention and keep you reading, they're a lot of fun! If you aren't familiar with some of the authors, this is a great way to be introduced to their characters. It's fun reading stories that are holiday themed around the holiday. I definitely recommend this collection of short stories.

I loved this collection of spooky tales that are just in time for Halloween. Eight of my favorite authors have each contributed a stand alone novella to this collection and any one of them alone is more than worth the price of the compilation.

Of all the stories, Mission Impawsible is my favorite. While it is a stand alone book, it takes off where Karma, Inc., left off and follows Kelly, Gabe, and their friends as magical mayhem ensues. Funny and fun!

If you hare looking for a great collection, you have found it in the compilation. A must read for fans of the genre or the authors.

I bought this anthology for "A Charming Death" by Tonya Kappes and I really enjoyed that story. After that story I thought I would read Rose Pressey's "One Charmed Evening". This was another great story that I really enjoyed so I thought I would read the next one and before I knew it I had read every story in the anthology. I felt they were all great and really fun reads. Some of the authors were new to me but now I am anxious to read more stories by them.

It is a quick, fun read. I recommend this anthology and can't wait for the next one coming in November.

First up, The Witch's Halloween Hero by Kristen Painter. "I wanna live in Nocturne Falls!" Corette the witch and Stanhill the rook get their little piece of heaven in this story, but like all things nothing comes easy! Next up, Mission Impawsible by Melanie James. Kelly the witch casts a spell that has her werebear boyfriend jumping through hoops. I have several other stories to read and am looking forward to reading them. Loved it...each story was different and fun. Made me laugh.
Great authors. Must read.

Looking for something new? Or a light read this is the anthology for you. It will put you in the Halloween mood.
When romance is in the air with some of the stories..and some hot steamy moments..
You'll get the wedding you have all been waiting for.
Then spells go all wrong, and major cacaos is unleashed.

Highly Recommnd..

I was given for an honest review.

Spell of the Ball is an anthology of 8 different short Halloween stories written by couple of my favorite authors and introduced me to several new ones as well. I purchased this book as I wanted to read A Charming Death by Tonya Kappes (Magical Cures series), and Mission Impawsible by Melanie James (a novella, which begins where Karma, Inc., finished).

A Charming Death (do us part) by Tonya Kappes: I am an avid Tonya Kappes fan and enjoy all things Charming. The inclusion of A Charming Death was the main reason why I purchased this book. A Charming Death by Tonya is truly amazing! It's been a charming ride following the romance of June Heal and the town sheriff Oscar Park. The twists and turns leading to their wedding day will not disappoint! Quirky and loveable characters, lively and colorful descriptions of their magical town and the element of mystery will make you want to visit Whispering Falls! Tonya Kappes is one of my favorite authors and I purchased this book to read about Oscar and Junes wedding. This was superbly written and I was captivated me from start. Happy tears were abundant with all the family history and love surrounding June and Oscar’s special day! June just wants to marry Oscar, the love of her life. Oscar and June are finally ready to tie the knot. First they must get past the Aunts' wedding planning and numerous strange happenings, each related in vivid detail. Finally, the wedding of June and Oscar! It’s been a long time coming and I was delighted to attend. Their wedding was perfect! I encourage you to go back to the beginning of the series and enjoy the entire love story. This is a quick read, yet, it has all the fun and mystery of a full length book packed into it that a novella. I’m looking forward to see what the future holds for the happy couple and can’t wait to learn more about the yellow ball! Ms. Kappes crafted fantastic ending to the story and I can't wait to see what adventures happen next.

Mission Impawsible by Melanie James: I believe this series is a new spin-off from James' Literal Leigh Romance series. This book begins where Karma, Inc., ended and follows Kelly, Gabe, and their friends as magical mayhem ensues. This is the other book in the anthology that I would call a favorite. Kelly and her man bear shifter Gabe are in a deep trouble in this story. Of course, witchcraft plays a part and “magical trouble” is never good. Gabe is a shifter but no one in town knows. Secrets may be revealed as a few more bear shifters are in town along with a crazy doctor. This book is filled with humor and fun!

The Witch's Halloween Hero by Kristen Painter: This short story is about a couple of the characters in her Nocturne Falls series (I love Stanhill from the 1st book and Corette from the 4th). I had wondered where they might be going and how they were going to end up. Corette and Stanhill have a date for the black and orange ball. Stanhill plans to propose to his love but a magic mishap causes Corette to forget who he is. Now has to convince her she loves him while waiting to see if her daughters can break the spell. This is Stanhill and Corette's happy ever after complete with some twists and turns that will keep you turning pages. You will fall in love with this town and all the characters. This short story about love and happiness. Funny, cute, short story.

Spirits, Hurricanes, and the Krewe of Ghoul by Deanna Chase: Series: Pyper Rayne (spin-off series of Jade Calhoun series). This is a delightful, enjoyable, funny Halloween story. This author is new to me, but I intend to read more of her works. The book is fast and funny with an unanticipated ending that left me wanting for more. This Halloween story is complete with lively ghosts (and Ida May a crazy ghost), witches, wizards, and crazy vampires, set on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. The Vampire Carver must find a bride. Piper, Ida May and the other ladies have been duped. Julius joins the party to lend a hand. This is the second book in the series. Now I have to read the first book as I loved this one!

One Charmed Evening by Rose Pressey: Rose Pressey is, also, a new author to me. I loved this short story. Trouble seems to find the leader of the underworld no matter where she goes. Halloween LaVeau is in New York with her friends, attending an awards ceremony where something is amiss. LaVeau is the underworld Halloween leader that encounters some strange things when ghost and magic intertwines together. This story is a quick read and will leave the reader wanting more.

Bad Moon Rising by Michele Bardsley Series: Angelica Mortis I didn’t care for this book. It falls into the erotica genre or classification that I personally don’t appreciate making it difficult to read. Angelica is a demon hunter with a drag queen friend, Graddie, and a wizard guardian. Angelica Mortis must make some difficult decisions and face her past secrets. There are two simultaneous stories, one with the Angelica and the other with another female protagonist who is grieving the loss of her fiancée. They ultimately merge in a very interesting way, with an unexpected twist. I had difficulty following the stories in the way they were presented. Those who appreciate erotica might like this story. I’d suggest that those who dislike this genre skip this story and enjoy the others.

Catatonic by Liz Schulte Series: Sekhmet Bounty (introduction of a spin-off series of Guardian & Jinn trilogies). There is something strange going on. Femi the Bounty hunter is on the case. Her mission is to determine why young women are falling asleep but not waking up. Strange things are happening with no explanation. Will Femi do what it takes to save the human race? You’ll have to read this story to find out.

Desperate Housewives of Olympus by Saranna DeWylde Series: Ambrosia Lane I'm not found of mythology related literature so this book did not hold my interest. This book was well written and included twists on gods and goddesses typically of this genre. However, it contains paranormal erotica. If that interests you, be sure to check this story out. I will read any future anthologies including this genre and I may develop an appreciation for similar books.

Overall, I thought the collection of short stories was superb! As a reader, you get to preview works by 8 talented authors representing a variety of genres. I'm a dedicated reader of several of the authors and familiar with their writing talent, but several others were new to me. This compilation is an ideal format to expose readers to authors across multiple genres by combining their stories. I’m giving the anthology a five star rating because all of the books all superbly written, including those that are not in genres I prefer to read. Every book captured my interest and had “enchanted” characters with well written plots/story lines. Several of the stories were somewhat difficult to follow given I have not read books from the series those stories were related to. All but two of the books are clean; the exceptions are Bad Moon Rising and Desperate Housewives of Olympus. If you are a fan of one of these authors/series then there is no question that you should purchase this anthology for your favorite author’s story. Additionally, this book has something in it for everyone and you might discover the works of authors new to you that expand your world of great books. You will not be disappointed. A perfect compilation for Halloween!

Full Disclosure: I purchased this book as several stories were written by authors I consider to be some of my “favorites”. I did received a complimentary copy of one book included in this anthology in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed in this review are my own.

As will all my reviews there are no spoilers and no story recap.

This book is an anthology and like many of the anthologies I purchase, I got this book for one story; The Witch’s Halloween Hero by Kristen Painter (A wonderful short glimpse into the relationship of a secondary couple mentioned in several of the Nocturne Falls books – This is a heart wrenching, amazingly written story well worth the price of the whole book)

I did read all the stories in the book however I felt completely lost most of the time as I hadn’t read most of these authors before this. Each of the stories were a part of an ongoing series and all were very short, quick reads. With the exception of one story, all were written in third person. There was no real explicit language or sexual content.

If you are a fan of one of these series then there is no question that you should purchase this anthology for your author’s story, you will not be disappointed. However if you want to ‘try’ new people or are looking for a sample of different stories this might not be the book for you.

Some of the stories in this collection are from series that I hadn't read but I didn't know that before I read it. I only had this book because of the Nocturne Falls story and I finally decided to read the whole collection. I didn't understand some of the stories because they assumed too much background knowledge and others just didn't hold my interest. In the end, Kristen Painter's story was the highlight for me.

I wanted to read this book for Kristen Painter's Nocturne Falls story. While I read some of the other stories, I felt like I was missing back story that was needed to get the full extent of their story.

Here is my breakdown on what I have read so far.

Spirits, Hurricanes, and the Krewe of Ghoul by Deanna Chase
I've read a few of Deanna's books. I am not fully up on the bourbon street witches which I think this is tied into, but having read a few of them, I feel that I am missing something big to get this book at all. The story was interesting, and I think I need to get back to finish the series so that I can understand where this story fits (or be corrected if this isn't tied into the bourbon street witches).
I would give this story 4 stars. It was entertaining, but as mentioned I feel I'm missing something.

The Witch’s Halloween Hero by Kristen Painter
Since I am fully up to date on the Nocturne Falls stories, I didn't feel like I was missing something to get Kristen's novella. I think anyone not up to date with the novella may question some of the story bits and I would recommend at least reading her new book The Professor Woos the Witch before reading this one. I loved getting to read the story about Corette and Stanhill. It was full of surprises, and twists. I'm also excited that Stanhill and Corette got some major screentime. I hope their story is revisited in future Nocturne Falls books.
I would give this story 5 stars. Fully entertaining, and leaves me wanting more.

Bad Moon Rising by Michele Bardsley
I started this story but had a difficult time keeping interested. I will try to revisit after reading the other stories.
No rating as I haven't finished.

A Charming Death by Tonya Kappes
I started this story but had a difficult time keeping interested. I will try to revisit after reading the other stories.
No rating as I haven't finished.

Mission Impawsible by Melanie James
Currently reading this story.

One Charmed Evening by Rose Pressey
Have not started yet.

Catatonic by Liz Schulte
Have not started yet.

Desperate Housewives of Olympus by Saranna DeWylde
Have not decided if I want to read.

I give the overall anthology 5 stars. Just because I've not read an author before and am having trouble getting into their work isn't a bad thing. It just introduces me to new authors. I will update as I read the remaining stories in the anthology.

Spell of The Ball anthology

Spirits, Hurricanes, and the Krewe of Ghoul by Deanna Chase
Pyper can see ghosts. And Carter, a vampire, wants to bite her. It's all in good fun on the parade float. Or so Pyper believes until things get a little strange and a little too real.

I haven't read this series by Deanna Chase, but this first novella in this anthology was intriguing and just a but frightening. I think there is more in this world than Pyper is not aware of or that boyfriend Julius is willing to share. I will have to try this author and series.

The Witch's Halloween Hero by Kristen Painter
Bartholomew Stanhill is going to propose marriage to Corette Williams at the Black and Orange Ball in Nocturne Falls. But before that can happen, a spell needs to be fixed because she can't remember who he is!

A fun town that celebrates Halloween year round. This novella is so romantic as the two woo each other. I have read this series and it's one of my favorite paranormal series because of the lightness (humor), the romance, the quirky town and the mix of "others" from witches to vampires, gargoyles and werewolves.

Bad Moon Rising by Michele Bardsley
Angelica Mortis and Graddock Bradenton own Demon Hunters, Inc. She needs to track a demon before it can destroy the realm. Angelica's guardian has more than demon hunting on his mind.
Emily Dayton has lost hope and color in her world. She releases a lusty demon. Evil is at play.

A lot of background. A dark complicated demon tale. Death and destruction to follow. Several Sex scenes with little story context.

A Charming Death (do us part) by Tonya Kapps
June Heal and Oscar Park are getting married. But of course things are a bit complicated.
Hope you've read the prior books in the series and this wasn't a spoiler.

A light mystery that is truly charming. I highly recommend the series
June is a witch stirring up potions to help her customers. She and the town make dreams come true and troubles go away.

Mission Impawsible by Melanie James
Inexperienced magic users and a spell gone wrong in this series novella. Friends help unravel the complications. I'm not familiar with this series so was a little lost in all the characters but it was a story in itself. I'm not sure about Kelly. She seemed a bit mean when making the cops that arrested her do a naked chicken dance in retaliation.

Great Boxed Set!
This is a great boxed set. There are eight books in this boxed set by eight wonderful authors. I was so excited when this book came up for pre-order. I don’t pre-order a lot of books but I had to get this one because it has many of my favorite authors in it.
Spirits, Hurricanes, and the Krewe of Ghoul by Deanna Chase- Pyper Rayne is ready to play vampire bride on the Halloween float. She is surprised when her resident ghost is no longer a ghost. But when the “vampires” actually bite someone then she starts believing that they may be real vampires and just not pretend ones.
The Witch’s Halloween Hero by Kristen Painter- Corette Williams is a witch; she has been looking forward to going to the Halloween ball with the man she loves, Bartholomew Stanhill. When a spell her daughters were doing gets spilled on her she doesn’t remember who Stanhill is. He has until midnight to break the spell or Corette will be lost to him forever.
Bad Moon Rising by Michele Bardsley- Angelica Mortis is a demon hunter, when Roc a cute wizard shoes up. She is also asked by a friend a necromancer that she must help a ghost save his fiancé from a demon.
A Charming Death by Tonya Kappes- I was so excited that this is June Heal and Oscar Park’s wedding story.
Mission Impawsible by Melanie James- When Kelly casted a spell it went very wrong and now has direct consequences on her were-bear boyfriend. She gets the witches of Karma to help her figure out the spell before it is too late.
One Charmed Evening by Rose Pressey- Halloween LaVeau is leader of the Underworld. At the award ceremony Liam and Nicolas have been nominated for Coven Leader of the Year. While at the event the ghosts and magic collide during the ceremony.
Catatonic by Liz Shulte- Femi is a bounty hunter, when young woman start falling to sleep she is willing to do anything to help solve the case.
Desperate Housewives of Olympus by Saranna DeWylde- Hyacinth is the errant daughter of Apollo and Boreas is the God of the North Wind. When they have a night of passion at the Ambrosia Lane Halloween Ball it will prove that Hyacinth is in charge of her own destiny.
If you are looking for some great books by some great authors, then you need to read this boxed set. I am looking forward to the next books by these authors.

I wanted to read this anthology because of Kristen Painter’s Nocturne Falls novella about Stanhill and Corette. It was a beautiful short love story, no villains, just a love story. I loved it because we finally got to know those great characters better. Kristen Painter is one of my favourite writers in the world and I have read every single book she wrote, so it was only logical I wanted to read this one as well. Of the other stories, I would mention Deanna Chase’s Spirits, Hurricanes, and the Crewe of Ghoul, which was a great story. I loved the main character Pyper and her sidekick Ida May. The story was gripping, intense and I think I will look for more from this author. Michelle Bardsley’s Bad Moon Rising I liked half and half. It has two parallel stories, one with the main character and the other with an interesting female protagonist who is grieving the loss of her fiancée. They come together in the end in a very interesting way, with a twist. I loved the grieving woman’s story, but the main character Angelica, not so much. I was missing something, but that may be because it is a part of a series, which I did not check. I also liked Rose Pressey’s One Charmed Evening. Halloween LaVeau is a wonderful character, strong, independent witch who takes action and saves the day. I think I will look for more books from this author as well. I gave the anthology rating of five stars because of the books I liked, although some of the stories I did not find interesting enough to read to the end. This does not mean the other stories were not good, but considering this is a mix of all kinds of supernatural, some of the topics were just not my cup of tea. In any case, I recommend you to read this book, or at least a part of it because there is something in it for everyone.

I thought the collection of short stories was Fantastic! You get to preview 8 talented female authors all in one place. I'm a fan of several of the authors and familiar with their written works, but others were new. This compilation is a great way to expose readers to authors that they may not be familiar with by combining their stories. I give all the stories 5 stars. They each held an element that I found peaked my interest or endeared me to their characters. I've actually researched works of those I was unfamiliar with and have purchased their books and added the to my favorite authors list.

The stories include:
Spirits, Hurricanes, and the Krewe of Ghoul by Deanna Chase
The Witch’s Halloween Hero by Kristen Painter
Bad Moon Rising by Michele Bardsley
A Charming Death by Tonya Kappes
Mission Impawsible by Melanie James
One Charmed Evening by Rose Pressey
Catatonic by Liz Schulte
Desperate Housewives of Olympus by Saranna DeWylde

While I agree with some of the other reviews left, some of the stories were hard to follow, due to not having the back story, but I feel that is the purpose of this taster of short stories. It's to introduce you to the authors and their writing styles. The snippets of introductions to their characters and story lines makes for a perfect way to garner the reader's interest and further their curiosity. The selections expose the reader to magical stories for a short time, allowing a sneak peek into the world of witchcraft, mythology, or other worldly realms.

No need to expand further on the descriptions of the stories, because by doing so you give away almost the entire thing. I have my favorites and you will too. If you enjoy multiple genres, you'll enjoy this quirky combination of talent!

Lots of little proofing mistakes, even from the anthology intro, and throughout nearly all of the stories. I guess this is to be expected from a short story self-published low-cost anthology, but it shouldn't be.

Deanna Chase - A nice Halloween story, New Orleans style. Great leading story for the anthology.

Kristen Painter - Sweet story about a spell gone wrong and true love. Older characters nicely done. Perfect for this anthology.

Michele Bardsley - Erotica. Multiple sex scenes and an over-the-top transvestite character. The phrase “canary-who-ate-the-cream“ is missing a cat. NOT the quality of writing or proof-reading I expect from a NYT and USA Today Bestselling author.

Tonya Kappes - On the fantasy scale (from "just a hint" to "very little real-world left"), this one is solidly in the Harry Potter range. Prepare to be introduced to EVERY person that lives in the little town. Cute story of the day before a magical wedding.

Melanie James - I snickered more throughout this story than any of the others, but halfway through I lost interest. (Weres are not my thing at all, to begin with.) I kept stopping and then had to re-read the last few chapters several times.

Quote: "Clearly, my brother had mood poisoning when it came to my current living conditions.“ MOOD POISONING. Exactly the term I've been looking for to describe peoples' negativity on social media!

Rose Pressey - Choppy sentences, editing errors, and excessive grammar mistakes made this story unbearable to read. I couldn't even get through the first chapter because my brain had switched fully into editing mode. A USA Today bestselling author?! She should be embarrassed at publishing this.

I did not read the last two stories. Might pick them up again later.

A Charming Death by Tonya Kappes is part of the Spell of The Ball (8 Magical Halloween Reads) set of books. I purchased this set of books just for A Charming Death. I have followed Tonya's Magical Cures series from the very first book A Charming Crime and I have enjoyed each and everyone of the books in the series. A Charming Death is a special treat since we finally get to witness June and Oscars wedding. June Heal the protagonist in this series is charming, smart, down to earth and seems to always find herself in the middle of trouble. June and Oscar live in Mystery Falls a magical town full of spiritualists with specialty shops. In A Charming Death June finds herself in the middle of two Aunts who seem intent on ruining her wedding. Junes Aunt Helen wants June and Oscar to have a Good Sider wedding, while Oscars Aunt Eloise wants June and Oscar to have a Dark Sider wedding. ( Good Sider and Dark Sider are two different types of Spiritualists) As if June doesn't have enough to deal with she also has to save one of the Aunts who is poisoned, and Patience Karima one of the local funeral directors seems to have gone a bit crazy. Patience also knows who poisoned the Aunt. June just needs to get patience to tell her who and how before it is too late.
Although this is a quick read it still has all the fun and mystery packed into it that a full length book would have. A Charming Death will leave you smiling and perhaps even bring a tear to your eye I know it did mine. I love the ending and I can not wait to find out more about a certain yellow ball. If you have not yet read any of the Magical Cures series I highly recommend them.

* I received the ebook in exchange for an honest review. I am also only reviewing the book he Witch’s Halloween Hero by Kristen Painter at this time. *

I love author Kristen Painter and I especially love her Nocturne Falls series. I was so excited to see that she was going to have a novella featuring some of her characters. This story is about Stanhill and Corette. This is one of the series cutest couples as they are "older" than the others and are working on their relationship when they have time (which isn't as often as they would like). This story may have been a novella, but it contained the punch and impact of any of her full length novels. Stanhill is ready to move on with their relationship but to his shock, Corette doesn't know who he is or why he is with her! The daughters of Corette have made a mistake with a spell and the consequences are terrible! Will there be a HEA or will they be destined for failure?!? I hope that Author Kristen Painter is working on her next book in this series as I am in withdraw right now!

This is a can't miss step in the stories that are Nocturne Falls - don't hesitate to one-click this one - you don't want to miss any part of this amazing series or this amazing town! I wish Nocturne Falls was a "real" place as it would definitely be on my vacation must list!!! Enjoy this story and all of her others as it is an amazing place to be and an amazing set of stories to read! Add this one to your list and add it quickly, you will love it!!!
