Highway Reapers MC

His body became my canvas…
Brea

How did I end up here?

Always the good girl, with a pen in my hand just focusing on my drawings.

Now I’m a tattoo artist dealing with some of the baddest guys around town.

They’re mostly harmless to me, and I pay them no attention.

Until I’m face-to-face with a stranger with a broad chest and a smoldering gaze that is leaving my legs trembling and my heart racing.

He’s a man of a few words, and the exact opposite of what my mind is telling me I need. But I am drawn to him like no one else before.

There’s just one other problem, my brother Sylar thinks I’m his property.

Miles

Guys like me don’t fall in love, just f*ck and move on.

So what am I doing back in her tattoo shop when I already have more ink on my body than I can fit?

Maybe it’s the thought of her hands spread across my chest while working on a new piece.

Or her good girl attitude and gorgeous smile that drives me insane thinking about how I would turn her bad in just one night.

Whatever it is, I NEED her body pinned underneath mine, moaning my name until she forgets her own.

But in my world, there is no such thing as love without tears or bloodshed…

Brea has lived a very sheltered life always under the eyes of her brother. She has had to sneak out to do anything even go to the library, but Brea is now eighteen and has a plan. She is an artist who has found a job as an apprentice at a tattoo parlor. When she gets her brother to finally agree, Brea knows this is the beginning of a new life for her.

Miles is part of a biker club, born to it really but Miles doesn't always agree with the way they handle things. Miles is carefree and mainly thinks of himself, which is why he is sent to send a message to another biker club in a small town. He doesn't expect to meet Brea, she fascinates him and for the first time he finds himself putting her first. Secrets though are about to be revealed and protecting Brea and keeping himself alive are the most important thing to survive.

This was intriguing but I thought Brea was confusing. She is sheltered completely and yet wanton when she meets Miles. I found myself circling back to her conflicting behavior. I liked Miles he was an unusual biker. I might reread to see if different perspective.

* POSSIBLE SPOILERS *

♦️BOOK: Can be read as a standalone. Full length. Kindle loc: 4456

♦️HERO: Miles Jun--member of a motorcycle gang. sculpted and muscular with tattoos, scars, dark hair, dark eyes.

♦️HEROINE: Brea, 18--artist. Innocent, sheltered, virgin with short dark hair, bright blue eyes.

♦️PLOT: Brea is living with and being raised by her strict, over protective older brother Sylar (also in a motorcycle gang), who doesn't allow her to leave the house at all because it's not safe, but all of a sudden allows her to move out and get a job as a tattoo artist’s apprentice in the next town. Meanwhile Miles arrives in town to stir up trouble and start a turf war with a rival gang. The two meet when he goes to get a tattoo...and it's insta-lust/love, boyfriend/girlfriend crap. Then chapter after chapter, a whole lot of nothing happens. Brea's brother finds out that Miles runs with a rival gang. The gangs prepare to go to war with Brea in the middle.

♦️WHAT DID NOT WORK:
➖THIS BOOK IS SO EFFING CONFUSING!!!
1) Miles runs with the Highway Reapers gang and Brea's brother Sylar is with the Blood Pact.........until Chapter 30! Suddenly, the two gang names are completely switched around (and of course they are mentioned about a bazillion times) Oh but wait, in Chapter 59 they flip back to the correct names, then switch again in Chapter 65. It's. A. Fucking. Mess.
2) In Chapter 32, Colin (also Collin) is a slim receptionist at the tattoo parlor. A couple pages later, Colin is a completely different character altogether, a heavy set guy in Miles' gang-for the rest of the book.
3) In the middle of chapter 42, there's a random "Chapter 11" label thrown in for fun, I guess.
4) the name Harlow appears in there once but might have been referring to Brea ???

~~There are really too many problems to list. It's so bad, it's ridiculous!

➖this book is beyond unrealistic!
1) No one tattoos a large, multi-session tattoo for new client their second week interning at a tattoo parlor, with no prior knowledge of tattoos whatsoever. After only a month she works on her own on a regular basis. No way, no how.
2) No tattooist just keeps adding random stuff to a tattoo to keep from finishing it, nope.
3) For an extremely sheltered, 18 year old virgin, Brea was way too sexually confident, knowledgeable and flirty. She even deep-throats on her first try!

~~Again, there's just too much to list.

♦️EDITING: A hot mess & needs major work - lots of incorrect words/names, detrimental inconsistencies

♦️POV: multiple (too many) third person

♦️HEAT LEVEL: 2/5 - a few very quick & lousy sex scenes

♦️ENDING: HEA, Epilogue -1 year later, No Cliffhanger

***Spoilers***

So, I mean look at the cover. Who wouldn't want to read this, and the blurb sounded promising. And oh wow was I wrong! Where to start...hmmm...ok so first we have an 18yr old girl, Brea, who has talent sketching, so she gets job as apprentice in a tattoo shop...and in two weeks they are letting her do a tattoo on a new customer...yeah, soooo not happening! And because she wants to keep seeing this guy, Miles, (you guessed it, he's the romantic hookup) she just keeps adding shit to the tat?!
Oh look Toto we're not in Kansas anymore!
So this innocent-raised-by-strict-brother-and-kept-secluded 18 yr old just gives into temptation after a short amount of time, and becomes wildly sexual, even to giving a BJ as her second sexual experience, in a movie theatre no less (and of course she's really good)?! Seriously...this is where I jumped a 100 pages or more.
Then the next doozie? Suddenly Miles, who on introduction to the story, was in a MC called Highway Reapers and was going against another gang called the Blood Pact, well apparently with my 100-200 page jump, he suddenly became a member of the Bloods, and was going against the Reapers...say what now...oooohhhh, he never switched sides...Mz West just apparently forgot what she had written before!
Overall, this story appeared immature, unbelievable (even with stretching my imagination), and had crucial facts confused... please save your money and your time, don't read this story.

Honestly, I just did not like this book at all. The premise was good but there were just so many editing errors and continuity of story was off? Brea went from being a sheltered girl to this accomplished tattoo artist, condo owner and sexually free virgin too quickly for me. Should have been so much better. Sorry to the author.

Many editing errors

The story was enough to merit a 4 star rating. However there were so many critical errors that I would have to reread sentences to make sure I understood who was doing what. Too bad. An additional book about Gina and Skylar would be interesting as long as good editing is involved.

Liked it

I actually enjoyed the story. I liked the characters. I really think this book needs a whole reedit. The spelling and grammar are horrible and I got confused many times because the names got mixed up many times. Where there was supposed to be one name there was a totally different one in its place. I had to pay close attention to the names so I would get confused.

I was so confused for more than half the book.

One minute Miles was a reaper the next a blood pact.

Her brother was too overprotective in my opinion. But what I didn't understand and what was so out of character for him was by the end of the book total 180 from the brother we saw in the beginning. Totally made me hate him. Especially when he made his choice.

Miles was extremely perfect. Brea was his woman and fuck everyone else. That's the kind of hero I like, loyal and faithful.

The sex was like every chapter for a while there. It seemed like they never actually talked and just were together doing nothing. They seemed to talk for like 2 seconds and then they were back to sex again. Not much relationship to me.

Like I said the back and forth between not knowing what gang Miles was in had me so confused. I guess I figured it out by the end when it was consistent but didn't make sense as to why the book was a Highway Reapers book if he wasn't a Reaper. Once again confusing.

I guess it was okay even though they didn't have a deep relationship I liked them together.

This book is a big old mess. Words used incorrectly and continuity issues-a-go-go!

The writing isn't bad but it's pretty flowery - as if a kid is writing what she thinks a romance book should sound like. At one point we're introduced to Miles' Uncle (and he calls him 'Uncle' as if he's a child and not a biker in an MC) and he's described as 'grey haired man with a long beard which draped over his chest like a strange cravat'. And this is the MC President . . . why does he sound like Gandalf? The whole book is like this! Miles 'shrugs nonchalantly' and she longs for him. it just doesn't feel like story about a bad-ass biker club. It feels more like Regency romance written in the 80s.

Breas attitude also bugged me. I have nothing against virgin heroines but she goes from this incredibly sheltered girl to riding a relative stranger at her work and going down on him like a pro. It's stupid. and don't even get me started on why she's doing a large tattoo on a customer after apprenticing for 2 weeks. As if!

Even though this book is short, it took me months to finish. Frankly I have to say I was really disappointed . The cover is absolutely beautiful, and the blurb pulled me in straight away. It just didn't live up to it.

Why?

Too many things bothered me.

1. It's a MC story, ( which I usually love) and the author used words as "gang " and "pack. ( it's called a club, not gang or pack).
2. It was so bloody unrealistic , ( like no way it would ever end the way it did?)
3. I wanted to punch all the characters in the face. I have never been more frustrated with a main character (Brea) before.
4. It needed some serious editing. ( it kinda felt like the author didn't care)
5. I was not a fan of the writing style.

Will I recommend ?

No, I will not. I hate being this harsh, and I always respect authors with the guts to actually publish their work, but this book wasn't for me.

Very disappointed

I am only 32% into this book and there are so many mistakes it's driving me crazy. Miles is supposed to be part of the highway reapers motorcycle club. But it keeps saying he's with the Blood Pact Club. Brea's brother is on the Blood Pact but keeps saying he's in the Reapers.
Brea was raised by her brother who wouldn't let her out of the house unless she snuck out. She gets a job at a tattoo parlor in the next town over. She moves there and that's where she meets Miles.
Now the Reapers and the Blood Pact are about to war and Miles will do anything to keep Brea safe, even leave the only life he's ever known.

Hmmmm No

I read jasper and loved it. This was a hot mess with a great story. Why would you confuse the gangs? Then the part about the acid didn't have enough thought it sounded like it just happened an ta da magically healed. I read between 2-4books a day. Let's just say that if the story wasn't good I would have deleted this book by chapter 3. I am seriously disappointed. If someone would have proof read this book it could have been awesome. Sorry if I ruin this book for someone else.

All I can say it wasn't one of her better books.

There wasn't much I liked about this book. The grammar, spelling, and punctuation was horrible. The author messed up twice on names between the brother and boyfriend. The story line was blah, and it started out slow. She mistaken Brea's age twice. Miles most definitely didn't have an alpha role. He cried more than Brea did. The intimacy scenes were pretty much boring. I hate to say this, which I don't do often, but I don't recommend reading this book.

Major mistake made with the Main Characters

I would have loved the book except the fact that the rival MC names kept flip flopping back and forth which made it impossible to enjoy. It needs to be reedited in a big way. I'm not sure how this got passed everyone who read and edited the book. Fix the problem and it'll be an awesome book

Author couldn't keep things straight

The most frustrating part of this book was that the author could not keep the names of the gangs straight. They kept getting mixed around and i actually had to stop a few times to determine if she meant to do that or not.

Story line was ok. Editing was horrible. The gangs and members were mixed multiple times. Then character names were also mixed up at times. Someone needs to go back and fix all the errors then it would be easier to read. With so many mix ups it was more of a chore to read than a joy.

The plot was basic

The read was ok. Somewhat predictable but that is what I was looking for. It met my expectations for a straight forward easy read with a bittersweet ending that left me satisfied.

The cover differently doesn't match the book for sure. It was so messed up and all over the place. Just a o.k.book nothing great.

3.5 stars. I want more of this story. I need a story on Sylar. I kind of hate him but whatever. Hank too, and Gina. I hope there are more books to the series.
