Flip and Fin are sand shark twins. One wears red shorts and one wears green shorts. Their tv superheroes are Sammy Saw Shark and Harry Hammerhead who save the day. They are “faster than a sailfish! Tougher than a clamshell!” Flip and Fin want to save the day as well, so they go off on looking for adventure. There is lots of zipping and flipping. They find a human ball and decide to go return it. However, the human swimmers are really scared of sharks and they all run out of the water. The sharks think the humans are afraid of the ball. Flip and Fin congratulate themselves on a job well done in saving the humans.
Straight Talk for Librarians: This book is a fun and silly tale about a misunderstanding. Little readers will laugh out when they realize that humans are really afraid of the sharks and not the ball. The illustrations are bright and colorful, setting a friendly tone. Flip and Fin imagine themselves to be superheroes as little readers are sure to do. The emotions illustrated in shark and human faces are very expressive. You can easily tell when someone is scared and when they are having fun. This story is really very “fliptastic” and “fliptacular”. Baby Shark fans will be most excited about a shark book. The last page of the book has lots of facts about sand sharks. I think young readers will be really interested in those. This book would be great for an independent reading choice, a classroom read aloud, an ocean or shark book display. Shark stories seem to be pretty timeless, so you can’t go wrong with this purchase for your school library.
Shark brothers, Flip & Fin are back in this oddball follow-up to We Rule the School. While out playing in the ocean with their friends, Swimmy (an octopus) and Molly (an angler fish), they discover something strange floating on the surface of the water and embark on a mission to return the round stripey object to the human people - thus being the heroes who save the day! However, seeing two sharks heading towards them, the human people freak out and swim for the shore. Thinking that the humans must be afraid of the stripey ball, Flip and Fin, being the heroes that they are, quickly rescue the humans by popping the ball. The book draws it's humor from the misunderstanding of the ocean friends - a misunderstanding that is sure to delight young readers who are in the "know". A brief page of Sand Shark facts enriches the story, but it would have been nice to learn about Flip and Fin's unique friends as well.
There's nothing like a shark story! I have shark storytimes I do and this might work well. The drawings are really, really cute. Flip and Fin are sand sharks - and info on this type of shark is at the back - that enjoy watching their hero super sharks on shark tv. They decide they are going to be super sharks too and off they go, collecting a couple of friends, Swimmy (and octopus?) and Molly (one of those fish with the outrageous underbites) on the way. Flip and Fin get the wrong end of the stick when they find a ball in the water and try to return it to the humans. They think the humans scream and run out of the water because they are afraid of the ball. Very cute.
When Flip and Fin, the sand shark twins, watch their favorite cartoon they decide they will be superheroes too. The only problem is that humans are afraid of the sharks and don't know that they are there to return their big inflatable beach ball. Misunderstanding the humans' fear, Flip and Fin think they are afraid of the ball. So they toss the ball back and forth and pop it. Then they swim away to cheers coming up from the beach.
Flip and Fin are a couple of sharks. After watching one of their favorite cartoons they decide that they want to be superheros. Unfortunately the results are not what they intended but they were too clueless to notice. Older children will understand and appreciate the humor of this story. Unfortunately my daughter is on the younger side and while she did enjoy the illustrations the story seemed to go over her head. Would recommend for older children.
Will us humans ever understand sharks? A fun and silly tale of 2 friends Flip & Fin trying to be "super sharks". A bit of a tongue twister for a read aloud. The eyeballs on the main characters remind me of Tedd Arnold's main characters.
