While one archeologist has escaped the small island of vengeful tribesmen, a leviathan too has escaped the island . . . the deadliest prehistoric sea creature ever known: pliosaurus, powerful and unstoppable in its purpose.
Just three days since John Paxton narrowly escapes “island hell,” he returns to South Africa to face the creature’s bloody swath of destruction. Assisted by savvy pilot Kate, John scours the ocean waters, obsessed with ending the reign of terror he believes he has unleashed by taunting the island’s status quo. But the attacks are forming a pattern—a chilling parallel with a prophecy foretold by the island’s tribal elders. All the while, John is unaware that he has been followed by tribal elder Kota, who will stop at nothing to see the bloody prophecy fulfilled.
Now, both hunter and prey, John is hot on the trail of the most lethal set of jaws in history. But when a plan that should have killed the leviathan fails, John faces the ultimate question.
Is he battling a mortal creature or, as the villagers prophesied, something more than flesh and bone
Following up from book one the great prehistoric sea monster Plisiosaur is still roaming and causing havoc along the coast of the Southern African Coast. I really liked this book because it was so unpredictable and graphic that it just made you want to read more and more. the characters mind sets were displayed so perfectly to understand their mind set at the time. SPOILER ALERT #1!!! At the end of the book it was so great to see that the sharks, who feared the great beast took advantage of its weakness and drove it away from the beach. Then you go back to the island where this all started and one of the tribesman sees the blood trail going off into the distance. SPOILER ALERT #2!!! I would like Russ Eliot to take advantage of the Plisiosaur and how it hasn't fully died yet and use that to make a third book where the Plisiosaur comes back stronger and more powerful and Kate and John have to fight it again and destroy it for good.
Book 1 was fantastic and so is the sequel. If you love sea creatures and all the terror that involves, then this series is one you will love. The author does a great job with his characters, making them come alive. I hope more stories are coming!
A good read and never boring. The book picks up right where the previous book left off. We are tossed right into the madness. I love books about giant sea creatures and I was very happy that not a single Megalodon made an appearance.
Probably not!!! It seems to be unkillable. They have hit it with every thing they have and it's still swimming around. Even though it was badly injured by a group of great white sharks it escaped with it's life. The natives are trying to lure it back to the island. Will they be successful?? Only the next book will give us an answer. A great story. Highly recommended.
This was a good book. As with book 1, I skimmed through the gore and followed the plot. No cursing...always a plus. The story continues. I don't get why he continuously points out the black characters, but whatever. On to book three.
Love how the book drops you right in the middle of the action right where book 1 left off. From there, it's a non-stop thrill ride that culminates in one of the most epic endings I ever read in a novel or seen on film. Exceptionally powerful ending. Also enjoyed how the creature got into the main character's head, all-the-while asking the reader if John was truly losing his mind or if the creature was something more than flesh and bone as the tribal elders prophesied in book 1. This was one scary thrill ride that made my heart pound. Hope Elliott writes a third installment.
Well, the story continues with part two. Again, a decent sea monster novel, but again, left the story hanging. I like closure in my novels, not keep reading on and on. Would have made a good movie.
Thoroughly enjoyable book. This sequel is even more exciting than the first book. The characters are well formed and likeable. I would highly recommend this book.
