My children love these books, especially the younger two. But by far my son is the biggest fan. And any book that my children want to read over and over again is a winner in my opinion. These books are not traditional readers, but they are not graphic novels either. They do not fit normal categorization.

When I asked my son to pick one word to describe this book his answer was 'AMAZING!" and you can not give much higher praise than that. My son's favourite part of the books was that the Kraken was misunderstood, that the Kraken was really just trying to protect its babies. In fact my son loves these books so much he bought book 2 and 3 himself so he could have copies even after we had read the eBooks.

This book as the third adventure in the Yeti files, and this time Blitz and the gang head to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis. The Cryptozoologist need to find a solution to the escalating conflict between the mermen mermaids and the Kraken, before the whole region is destroyed. This story has a lot of adventure and obstacles for Blitz and the team to overcome, giant crabs, man eating sharks, magic crystals. But the team is always up to going the extra mile to protect their friends and other cryptids.

It is interesting to watch the battle between nature and growing and expanding technology in this book. The message is there even if children do not pick up on it right away.

My son and I have read this book and the whole series through three times now. And has been a while since we read this the first time, but still end every time we pull one out to read my son asks when there will be more books. So here is to another great book in a really fun series. Well done Kevin! And hopefully there will be more Yeti Files soon.

Uuggghhhhh!!!!!
This has a few of my favorite things: A Yeti, releasing of the Kraken and an underwater mystical adventure. So, what gives?
I wasn't mystified nor impressed.
It can only be one thing, I've grown up! *crying*

Review by LY, age 8.

Read it. It’s funny!

The characters are Blizz the yeti, Alex the elf, Gunthar the goblin, and Frank the fox.

This is a chapter book with a lot of pictures. There are drawings of made-up objects and creatures like the “cryptosub”, merfolk, Atlantis, and the kraken.

Blizz leads the team to Atlantis to help the merfolk, who are being attacked. The team is separated. They have their own adventures underwater. When they get back together, the mystery is solved. The attack on the merfolk was not what it seemed.

The book is good. I had a fun time reading it. There were enough words. The illustrations are silly and funny. They could have added more pages though. It seemed short.

I rate this book 4 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ .
I like the story and the illustrations. It was easy to read. It made me smile.

Review by Mom.

I like the fact that it isn’t intimidating. Anyone who is a kid at heart can pick it up and enjoy the silliness. Even a 3 year old may enjoy the graphics.

This was in our very first Owl Crate jr. box. My son was not intimidated by it because of it’s size. He saw the illustrations when he was flipping through it and decided to start reading. He didn’t put it down until he was done.

Any book that can grab my son’s interest and that does not require prodding from mom gets 👍🏻👍🏻 two, very enthusiastic thumbs up!

This illustrated chapter book series is about animals that people don’t believe exist. These cryptids have taken an oath to never be seen by the outside world.

This is perfect for kids who want “fun” and illustrations on every page. It isn’t very thick, which is why my son was attracted at first. I recommend this to lower Middle Grade kids ages 7-10. It is just a mish mash of pure fun, made-up facts, and silliness.

My son and I like reading this series together and this is another fun edition to the Yeti Files. While I didn't enjoy this one as much as the others, my son seemed to love it as he is a huge fan of all things ocean themed. We will definitely continue with the series. Full review to come.

Weird..and a “shameless plug” maybe because I didn’t read the first 2 books but.. it was a dectective story where the yeti was called to Atlantis because it’s mayor was mining crystals and was greedy.. the krakens are protecting it but the mayor lies and says the kraken is a monster destroying his underwater town powered by the crystals.. he mines too deep into the kracken cavern. Somehow there is a famous Amelia Airheart (spelling err on my part).. I think but named differently and still alive in the story.. some woman who crashed her plane and disappeared.. it just wasn’t very cohesive to me. I think because the kraken are creatures who guard the heart of the ocean and care for all life forms while the mayor is overtaken by his obsession with crystals and is power hungry.. so he gets sentenced to work for his crime.

Miss 7 was getting bored of these by the end of the series but there are some good environmental messages in the book.

Miss 7 and I like to explore different books and authors at the library, sometimes around particular topics or themes. We try to get different ones out every week or so; it's fun for both of us to have the variety and to look at a mix of new & favourite authors.

These are cute and fun reads for kids. I didn't enjoy this one as much as the previous, and the illustration for the people was a bit jarring for me. And a little creepier than in the past books. Ditto the Kraken's eye.

I can't wait until the next one comes out! I simply love these cute, funny, and quick reads. The story is totally different each time with a mystery to solve, and even though it is black and white you can imagine the world all on your own.

My 9 year old loved this book. He wants to read them all. Yetis adventure to save Atlantis was a fun read. That Fox is interesting as well.

I get the bad spelling but I would have preferred them to spell correctly.

A nice short read. I got this because it was in an Owlcrate Jr box, but wouldn't have picked it without Owlcrate. (I love how Owlcrate Jr does that!)

3 1/2 stars -

Very silly in the same vein as Captain Underpants. This would definitely work as a pick for a reluctant reader and particularly for a boy. Parents may find it a bit on the tedious side but there are some funny jokes and it reads very fast. This would be a fun one to read as a family. It has a nice message as well.

Atlantis is being attacked by a giant kraken so the mayor calls in Blizz and friends to help. Krakens aren't normally this nasty, and Blizz and friends soon discover that the mayor isn't telling them everything. While the mayor is building grand and glorious technology with the crystals he's harvesting, something bad is happening to the ocean.

I think the extremely short format of this story hurt it. It felt rushed and underdeveloped. It's not bad, just felt like it could have been done so much better. It has promise of being complex enough to write a whole series of books before resolving the conflict. I would have liked more about the kraken and Atlantis.

Notes on content: Some rocks thrown and potentially dangerous situations shown, but no one seems to be seriously hurt.

My 9 year old gave this story 4.5 out of 5 stars. This is his type of read: illustrated and funny; perfect for my reluctant chapter book reader. My 11 year old gave it 3.5 out of 5; mostly because it's not his type of read. Regardless we all enjoyed the adventure and the youngest identified the villain right away.

Another one for the nephew (is it wrong to read them before I give them to him?) I already got him the first two but I never read them. Pretty fun.
