MURDER FIR CHRISTMAS is one of the most beautiful books I have read in a long time. Authors Joyce and Jim Lavene have truly outdone themselves.

When I first heard about this book, and that the Christmas Tree Valley Mystery series it was a spinoff of the Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade series, which is written under the Lavene’s pen name, J. J. Cook, I was beyond thrill. The Lavene written many amazing series, but the Sweet Pepper series is my favorite and holds a very special place in my heart. But nothing prepared me for just how wonderful a story MURDER FIR CHRISTMAS would turn out to be.

I loved seeing favorite characters from the Sweet Pepper series, and I hope they will continue to make appearances in this delightful series. There is also a lovely connection to another series by the Lavenes, also written under their Cook pen name, the Biscuit Bowl Food Truck Mystery series. Protagonist Bonnie Tuttle had a relationship with a character from the Biscuit Bowl books. The Lavenes often intertwine their different series, and I just love it. The new characters introduced in this series, such a Bonnie, her mother Rose, and Matthew Brown Elk are absolutely endearing. I was enamored with all of them immediately. And I defy anyone not to fall in love with the wolf pup Bonnie rescues. Sorry, you have to read the story to learn his name.

Since there is a ghost in the Sweet Pepper series, I expected something paranormal to be part of this series as well. The mystical beauty contained in this story is not what I was expecting, but certainly is something that made my heart smile as I read MURDER FIR CHRISTMAS. The storyline has stayed with me since finishing the book, and I am already anxiously awaiting the next installment.

Masterfully written…filled with intrigue, action, laughter, joy, and a mystical beauty that touched my heart, MURDER FIR CHRISTMAS has beat out every book this year to become my number one favorite book of 2015.

MURDER FIR CHRISTMAS left me crying for two reasons. The unexpected beauty that envelopes the story, and the fact that author Joyce Lavene passed away before she had the chance to see just how well this wonderful book has been received, and loved by her devoted readers. Then again, if this story taught me anything at all, it’s that Joyce really does know, because she sat with all of us as we read it, and I could feel her smile.

What can I say but Wow!! I Loved this book!

Federal Wildlife Agent Bonnie Tuttle has always had a way with wild animals. And even though she's spent the last 10 yrs in Alabama, when a job comes along that will bring her back home so that she can care for her mother, she takes it. Which means, back to Christmas Tree Valley. Her first day back home and there's already work for her to do. She and the wildlife agent that she's replacing are called to the island in Sweet Pepper to help rescue what wild animals they can from a fire. Bonnie is able to rescue a dozen or so but unfortunately, Harvey, the agent she is replacing, is murdered. As is the suspect she had in custody for starting the fire. So all Bonnie has to do is help find the killer, take care of her mother and their family Christmas tree farm and take care of the wolf pup that was shot when Harvey was. Piece of cake, right?

It was so great to see Bonnie in a story all her own. And it was neat to see Stella and Eric's relationship from an outside point of view. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to see where the series goes from here! Highly recommend this new series!

I grabbed this one because I saw the the connection to Sweet Pepper and I loved that series. I enjoyed the characters and it was fun visiting with Stella, Eric and the rest in Murder Fir Christmas. I would have loved getting the spend more time with the the new characters but the book works well as a stand alone. I really believe that could have come to love these guys just as much. The connection with Biscuit Bowl was cute.
A good book for animal lovers, mystery lovers, or those who enjoy intriguing characters.

Because she is a Game Warden, it isn't technically a cozy or amateur mystery but has that feel of warmth and community that I love.

Another really good and surprising debut mystery. Unfortunately, like Be My Banshee, there were never any follow-ups.

Like BE MY BANSHEE, this mystery has well crafted characters and a supernatural/paranormal element that doesn't overpower the mystery.

It is very sad that the Lavenes didn't continue this mystery before their death.

Review:

This the first book in the new Christmas Tree Valley Mystery series and it is a great start.

The characters are well developed and well rounded. I enjoyed reading about Bonnie, her mom, Rose, Matthew and Bonnie’s coworkers. Bonnie has a lot on her plate to deal with but she appears to be up to the challenge. And of course I enjoyed reading about all the different animals that Bonnie encounters. I also really enjoyed reading about the characters from the Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade series. Reading about them reminded me how much I miss that series.

The writing style flows smoothly and the book is an easy read. The descriptions are vivid and throughout much of the book I felt like I was right there watching all the action going on around me. The setting has a small town feel and it is a place I would like to visit. The mystery is carried on well throughout the book and there are enough twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes.

I also enjoyed the mystical aspect of this book. Bonnie seems to possess some special abilities for working with animals that make her very good at her job. I cannot wait to see if these abilities develop any further in future books.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well crafted cozy mystery. I am looking forward to reading more about Christmas Tree Valley.

A heartwarming cozy. If you're familiar with the series written by Joyce and Jim Lavene--Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade and Biscuit Bowl Food Truck Mysteries-- you'll recognize several characters in this spin-off series. Bonnie is a Federal Wildlife Agent who has a natural affinity with animals. After ten years away, she's moving back to Christmas Tree Valley, a town down the mountain from Sweet Pepper, to replace a retiring agent, and help care for her aging mother on the family Christmas tree farm. A fire on an island in the nearby lake calls for animal rescues, and readers will be stunned by what happens in just a few moments into the incredible plot of this mystery!! Bonnie rescues an injured wolf pup and with the help of Matthew Brown Elk, a natural healer, and co-owner of another Christmas tree farm close by. A puzzling chain of events have begun that confuse local police and Bonnie. Something underhanded has been secretly going on and someone has killed to try to cover their tracks.

I don't want to give this maze of a plot away, but I assure you it's refreshing and packed full of surprises! The wolf pup is adorable, and Bonnie's heritage proves mystical. Murder Fir Christmas is a captivating read.

My first read written by the popular author duo. It was a nice Christmas mystery but it doesn't have me raving like most of the other readers - maybe because I have never read any of the other books that already introduce some of the characters. I will give the Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade books a try and maybe get hooked that way....?

Murder Fir Christmas
Joyce and Jim Lavene
Murder Fir Christmas is the first in a new series, A Christmas Tree Valley Mystery, by Joyce and Jim Lavene. Some of the characters will be recognized from other series written by Joyce and Jim under the name of J.J. Cook. Bonnie Tuttle, Federal Wildlife Agent returns to Christmas Tree Valley and Sweet Pepper, Tennessee to take over the position for retiring Agent Harvey Shelton. Bonnie may be remembered from her character in the Biscuit Bowl Food Truck Series. Bonnie returns home to also take care of the family Christmas Tree farm since her brother Eric has taken a job with a company in Germany and also to keep an eye on her mother, Rose Tuttle, who has the early onset of Alzheimers. Even before her first day of active duty Bonnie is put into duty when a fire occurs on the little island in Sweet Pepper Lake. Bonnie accompanies Agent Harvey Shelton to try to rescue any animals escaping the island. While Chief Shelton goes in further to see if any animals are in distress, Bonnie is left to subdue a hunter who has been caught on the island. When a gunshot rings out, Bonnie goes to check on Agent Shelton and finds him dead with a gunshot wound. Once she has determined the body of the Chief is protected, Bonnie goes back to rescue a little wolf pup who has been shot by the same bullet that took out Chief Shelton. Who could want the Chief dead and why is answers Bonnie Tuttle will need to answer as well as introducing the little wolf back to his natural habitat. Stella Griffin the Fire Chief from the Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade as well as the ghost of former Fire Chief Eric Gamlyn also play a part in this series as well as Police Chief Don Rogers and Police Officer John Trump. Bonnie finds she has many hats to take on as this book goes on. I loved this new series and the combination of characters from the other series as well as the introduction of Tribal beliefs and the little wolf.

Murder Fir Christmas is the first book in a new series, A Christmas Tree Valley Mystery. What is exciting about this book is it returns to Sweet Pepper, Tennessee, the setting for another cozy mystery series and contains several of the same characters, including Fire Chief Stella Griffin and her ghostly friend, Eric. The main character of this series is Bonnie Tuttle, the newly appointed Federal Wildlife Agent, who is returning to her hometown of Christmas Tree Valley after ten years, to replace retiring agent, Harvey Shelton. (Bonnie made a guest appearance in Gator Bowl, the prequel to the Biscuit Bowl series.) But on their first day training together, Harvey and Bonnie are called to a fire on the nearby island to help rescue the stranded animals. When they arrive at the island, they arrest a man acting suspiciously, but shortly thereafter both this individual and Harvey are found shot to death by an unknown assailant. Alongside Harvey’s body, she also finds an injured wolf cub and brings him back to be treated. Bonnie is a strong female character who has learned to fend her herself for the past ten years. While she has some bitter memories of her childhood home, and an equally tough situation facing her helping to care for a mother diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, she soon finds that she will have assistance in her duties with her newfound friend, Matthew, and her mystical association with animals…a trait that seems to have earned her the Cherokee name of Unega Awinita, or white fawn. The mystery and introduction to these new characters was enjoyable and I look forward to the next book in this series, especially to see how her friendship with Oginali, the intriguing wolf pup, develops. Disclosure: I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Murder Fir Christmas is a new series. Its a cross over of The Sweet Pepper series the Lavene's write. Bonnie has a lot going on with a fire and rescuing animals the last thing she needs is a murder. So when she realizes there is a double murder she really has to get down to it and find out what is going on, and catch a killer all in time for Christmas. . Filled with excitement, mystery and fun you will be swept away to Sweet Pepper Lake.

I really enjoyed this book. While I still miss Joyce, you could feel her presence in this book.

I don't normally do reviews but this book definately left me wanting more with these characters and storyline. I am going to have to hunt down the Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade books . Didn't know about those until I read another review. Sadly I just read they are both gone so no more books. I have many of their series to catch up on though.

Murder Fir Christmas is the inaugural book in a new series, A Christmas Tree Valley Mystery, by Joyce and Jim Lavene. This series is set in Christmas Tree Valley, vividly described, a beautiful locale that inspires creativity and activity. The town is an homage to the past, offering unhurried peacefulness where residents savor conversations as much as they savor morsels. I would love to experience what the residents enjoy every day – authentic character and characters, cultural gems and fantastic outdoor settings, with the exception of a recent murder. The Lavene writing team skillfully integrated several familiar characters from several other series written by Joyce and Jim as J.J. Cook. Bonnie Tuttle, A Federal Wildlife Agent has returned her family home on Christmas Tree Valley home to take replace for retiring Agent Harvey Shelton. In addition to her work as a Wildlife Agent, Bonnie becomes the manager of the family Christmas Tree farm replacing her brother Eric who has accepted a job in Germany and assumes the responsibility as a care giver to her mother, Rose Tuttle, suffering from early onset of Alzheimer’s disease. Before Bonnie can get settled in a fire starts on the little island in Sweet Pepper Lake. Agent Harvey Shelton needs Bonnie’s assistance to rescue the animals escaping the island. A gunshot is heard so Bonnie goes to check on Agent Shelton finding he died of a gunshot wound. Bonnie does her best to protect the body of the Agent Shelton and returns to rescue a little wolf pup who has been burned and shot by the same bullet that killed Agent Shelton. It doesn’t take long and a second murder victim is found. As a wildlife agent, Bonnie must protect the animals, enforce laws and investigate criminal activity. Throughout, Bonnie strives to reintroduce the little wolf back to his natural habitat. The ghost of former Fire Chief Eric Gamlyn, Stella Griffin the Fire Chief from the Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade, Police Chief Don Rogers and Police Officer John Trump each have a role in this series. Bonnie clearly needs assistance and seeks help from Matthew Brown Elk, owner of a nearby tree farm, to help with the wolf pup and as a scout. Bonnie has a wonderful touch/relationship with animals, who seem to understand her. An old Indian spirit believes she has returned, per Cherokee legend, to protect the animals. Factual information specific to Cherokee legends, beliefs and folklore add unique twists and interest to this story.

The characters and setting are well described and developed with a tightly woven story-line. This book is one you won’t be able to set down! A PERFECT cozy mystery which engages the reader immediately! I can’t wait to read more of Bonnie's new life as becomes fully entrenched in the activities of Christmas Tree Valley and growing relationship between Bonnie and her wolf puppy. A wonderful start to what I hope will be a continuing series.

Full Disclosure – An advanced copy of this book was sent to me by the authors in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you are looking to read an intriguing cozy mystery story with a Christmas theme over the holidays, then look no further, Murder Fir Christmas is the book for you!

Husband and wife author team of Joyce and Jim Lavene weave a delightful holiday cozy mystery tale that transports the reader to the picturesque Great Smoky Mountain small towns of Sweet Pepper and Christmas Tree Valley, Tennessee, where they follow Federal Wildlife Agent Bonnie Tuttle as she investigates a case of arson and murder.

After ten years in Alabama working with wildlife animals, Bonnie Tuttle heads home to Christmas Tree Valley, Tennessee, to help her ailing mother on their family Christmas tree farm, and to take over for retiring Federal Wildlife Agent Harvey Shelton. But an arson on the island of Sweet Pepper Lake, the rescue of an injured wolf pup, and the murder of Agent Shelton and another person, has Bonnie caught up in an investigation to find the killer before anything else occurs.

Murder Fir Christmas is the first book in A Christmas Valley Mystery Series. This is an exciting tale that easily draws the reader into the mystery and suspense that befalls the peaceful small towns of Sweet Pepper and Christmas Tree Valley, Tennessee. The authors provide the readers with a wonderful tale full of intrigue, action, suspense, Cherokee Indian folk lore, a paranormal twist, and enough twists and turns that easily keeps them turning the pages.

I loved following Bonnie's intertwining storylines of taking care of her mother and family's Christmas tree farm with the rescuing of the injured wolf pup and the arson / murder investigation at Sweet Pepper Lake. You can't help but delve into Bonnie's story with its wonderful mixture of mystery and mystical themes, the richly vivid descriptions transported me into the center of the action, and simply kept me captivated from beginning to end. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the yummy Christmas recipes that are included at the end of the book. If you want to know what there sinfully delightful recipes are, then you'll just have to read the book to find out! You can thank me later. *wink, wink*

I am a fan of reading cozy mysteries that are set in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, and Murder Fir Christmas had everything that I expected and then some. I am a new fan of the Lavenes, and I look forward to reading more of their books. My heart aches for Joyce and Jim, as Joyce passed away in October, but I know that she is looking down from heaven and smiling lovingly at Jim for continuing their legacy of weaving wonderful tales for their fans.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

I am a huge fan of the Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade Mysteries by J.J. Cook, aka Joyce and Jim Lavene, so when I heard they were spinning off another series set nearby in Christmas Tree Valley I was over the moon!

We first met Bonnie Tuttle in the Biscuit Bowl Mystery Series. Now the Federal Wildlife Agent comes home to the valley after being away in Alabama for years. Her mother is starting to show signs of Alzheimers and her brother has taken a new job in Germany. Bonnie is taking Harvey Shelton’s place as wildlife agent and will also be running the family’s Christmas tree farm. Maybe everyone has forgotten why she left or she will be too busy to care if they do remember.

She is thrust right into her new job when there is a fire and several animals need to be rescued. She heads to the scene with Harvey. Shorty after they arrive gunshots ring out and Harvey is hit and killed. A wolf pup is also shot and Bonnie finds herself with a new friend as she takes care of him. Who would want to kill Harvey? Bonnie tries to see the forest through the trees to catch the killer before she or anyone else is fired upon.

What an amazing story!

All our favorite characters from Sweet Pepper welcome Bonnie to the area. Fire Chief, Stella Griffin, the ghost of former Fire Chief Eric Gamlyn and Police Chief Don Rogers throw out the welcome mat and then chaos erupts as the fire call comes in and the mayhem continues. These characters are already near and dear to my heart. They are wonderfully written and spring right from the pages.

Winter in Christmas Tree Valley is dangerous because the road can snow shut or be covered with ice or both. The road was closed before Bonnie could even get home the first day. The Lavene’s paint pictures of the scenery so clear with their words. The blustery wind, the frigid cold, I was almost shivering myself. They also brought the valley to life. I could envision the tree farms, Harvey’s cabin office, and all the beautiful sites as we traveled down the hill from Sweet Pepper.

The mystery itself played out in a way I never suspected. Such good twists and turns. I can’t say more because I am afraid I will say too much.

An awesome cozy story! Mystery with just a flake of folklore and a touch of paranormal and a little romance too. These authors have imaginations that are truly off the charts. They have blended these series together is a wondrous way yet given them the footings to stand on their own. I really like Bonnie and I truly hope Jim and the family keep this series going. I want to visit this area as often as possible.

I have to start off this review by saying that the Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade mystery series is one of my favorite cozy series. When I heard there was going to be a spin-off series, I could not wait to get my hands on the first book. I am not disappointed. In fact, I’m amazed at how much I loved this one. The perfect cozy mystery especially for the Christmas season.

In this series we meet Wildlife Agent Bonnie Tuttle. She grew up in Sweet Pepper but due to some personal problems, she left and moved to Alabama. Now, she’s back in her hometown to help her family.

Bonnie's first day back is a busy one to say the least. There’s a fire and the wildlife agent she is replacing is murdered. She, also, has a special gift with animals. As an animal lover, that makes this character even more special to me. She manages to save a wolf that was hurt with the same bullet that killed the wildlife agent. She plans to integrate the wolf back into the wild, but the wolf seems to have other ideas.

Bonnie sets out to assist the police in the investigation of the murder. She quickly remembers how small town gossip spreads and her past might not stay in the past for very long. However, she’s intent on her current job and finding out who killed her predecessor.

The Lavenes once again outdid themselves. This story has it all – there’s a ghost, mystery, adventure, a little romance and a mystical air surrounding this storyline. It’s a quick read with an amazing cast of characters. Each one is so realistic and touches your heart with so many different emotions. I do hope Jim can find a way to keep this series going. I only wish Joyce were here so I can tell her how much I loved this one.

Blizzard and fire, ghosts and shaman, a hungry pregnant bear awakening early from hibernation, not to mention a double murder, Federal Wildlife Agent Bonnie Tuttle was unprepared for her first week returning home to Sweet Pepper, TN for her new assignment. Add the duties of running the family tree farm in Christmas Tree Valley and watching over her ailing mother, still this cozy, small town novel is as warm as one of Chief Eric Gamlyn's hugs.

No matter how independent one is, or how old, mothers will continue to meddle until you are settled. I laughed at Rose's not so subtle matchmaking suggestions.
Bonnie left because this was the type of place where everyone knew and gossiped about everyone else's business. It seems not much had changed in ten years. When animals seem to seek Bonnie out, and respond to her words, she hopes people won't notice.

Bodies go missing, then turn up, and others are discovered, which make this a compelling mystery. As we wonder who can be trusted and who knows more than they are telling, we are introduced to the main characters in Sweet Pepper.

I did tear up when the story read "thinking about how life could quickly change from the way it usually was to something completely different."
As loyal fans and friends know, author Joyce Lavene left us while we were waiting for this story. Bonnie ponders that "...you just never know when one of those moments was upon you."

I also am considering naming a future furry companion Oginali. You'll have to read the book to know more.

I did receive this book as part of a blog tour, opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Murder Fir Christmas is the first in a new series by the remarkable Lavenes. Set in Christmas Tree Valley, near Sweet Pepper, Tn., which you may remember from the Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade Mysteries. Here we see old friends and make new. It was so nice to see Stella and Captain Eric again. We are also introduced to a captivating old Cherokee man, and his stag.

Bonnie Tuttle is moving home, after being gone for 10 years. Home is Christmas Tree Valley, where the Tuttle family owns a tree farm. Bonnie also came home to be with her mother, Rose, who is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s. Bonnie will also be taking the place of her fellow Wildlife Agent, Harvey, who is all ready to retire. Bonnie also meets one of her neighbors, Matthew Brown Elk, who happens to be a competitor for Christmas tree sales. But Matthew is a great guy and helps Bonnie, as he used to help Harvey.

Things started to go from bad to worse very quickly. In the aftermath of a fire on a nearby island, a body is found and Bonnie rescues an injured wolf, and takes him home to nurse back to health. Soon after, a gunshot is heard, and another body is found. It isn’t long afterward that there is another body found. What is going on? Are they, and if so how, are the murders connected? Bonnie, a government employee, volunteers to help the police out, as needed. With the expertise of the local law officers, and aided by Bonnie, things start to return to normal. But, may I ask, what is normal?

I was so caught up into Murder Fir Christmas that when I clicked my Kindle to turn the page I was shocked to see that I was on the last page. I truly loved this book and cannot wait for the next book in this new series.

Ridng along with Federal Wildlife Agent Bonnie Tuttle as she gets re-aquainted with her home town in the middle of a snowstorm and the murder of the agent she is replacing is a wild ride. Bonnie has 10 years experience on the job so she has no trouble getting to work right away. Although there is a lot going on you are able to follow along smoothly. It is like everything blends together and you can just read the story without having to stop and think. You truly feel like you are right there in Sweet Pepper Lake.

What can be said of Joyce and Jim Lavene that hasn't already been said ? They have written so many good books and series that everything good has already been said. The talent between them is unremarkable. The gift they give to the reading community is a gift to be treasured. Whether the book is written by Joyce alone, Jim alone or the two combined, you know you have a great book and will enjoy the story inside.

** This was a hard review to write as Murder Fir Christmas was dedicated to Joyce. She passed away on October 20, 2015. She will be missed by all but if you have read any of her books, she lives within you. Her writing leaves an impression on you that will always be there. Her memory will live on with her great books. I highly recommend reading Murder Fir Christmas and feel Joyce's spirit within the pages......

This is a terrific start to a new series, I loved it! Fans of the Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade and sure to enjoy it as well.

New Federal Wildlife Agent, Bonnie Tuttle has returned to Christmas Tree Valley after a ten year absence. She is taking over for the area's retiring agent. Bonnie hasn't even gotten settled yet when a fire breaks out necessitating rescuing any of the wild animals that can't get away. She finds an injured wolf pup that seems reluctant to let her help at first but soon doesn't want to leave her side.

At the scene of the fire, two murder victims are discovered. Bonnie tries to help find who committed the murders. In addition, she needs to help on the family Christmas tree farm and care for her ailing mother. With the help of Matthew, another local tree farmer and tracker, she just might be able to piece the puzzle together.

This is such a wonderful book! The story quickly grabs your attention and will keep you turning the pages. There are a few twists and surprises along the way. It always nice to see characters from the other series Joyce and Jim Lavene write. I think it's a fun element to the books. I enjoy these characters and can't wait to see what happens next!

I received a copy of this manuscript from the authors in exchange for an honest review.

I've always enjoyed the Lavene's books and recently swept through the Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade series. Murder Fir Christmas is a spin-off of that series, and an enjoyable debut it is!

Wildlife Agent Bonnie Tuttle grew up in Christmas Tree Valley in the Great Smokies. She's spent the last 10 years in Alabama, but has returned home to care for her mother while her brother takes a job overseas. Coming home isn't easy with memories of what drove her out of town resurfacing.

Soon after she arrives in neighboring Sweet Pepper where she meets her predecessor Harvey Shelton (and Fire Chief Stella Griffin from the SPFB series), her life gets complicated. Harvey gets a call about a fire and on an island in Sweet Pepper Lake and they head out to rescue as many animals as they can. Soon Harvey's dead from a gunshot wound, Bonnie has a wolf pup to nurse back to health, a Cherokee shaman appears to her, and the killer thinks Bonnie has what he/she wanted from Harvey.

There's so much more and while often the first book of a series of lacking just a bit because of the "let's introduce all the characters" effect, this is not the case here. Readers will want to visit Christmas Tree Valley and I can't wait to return.

Great read for the first book in this new series!
Christmas Tree Valley seems like the best place to live; among all the tree farms, peace, quiet, but no one expects a murder to come to this Christmas town. The protoganist in this series, Federal Wildlife Agent, Bonnie Tuttle has a rare talent with animals which she has been using for the past 10 years in Alabama. Sadly, she is called back home to Christmas Tree Valley to care for her mother and help with the farm.
The agent she is replacing Harvey Shelton, are called to a fire on an island on Sweet Pepper Lake, (first day on the job), and Bonnie rescues many of the animals, but Harvey is found shot to death, and a wolf pup who is next to Harvey's dead body is shot also.
Needles to say, Bonnies plate is full, with caring for mom, the farm, the wolf pup and finding Harvey's killer, she needs to stay 25 steps of the killer, because she may be next.
The interlacing of the characters from other series makes this an intriguing and fun mystery!

I was graciously given an advanced copy for my honest review and honestly it is good!

Great Book!
This is a great book; this is the first book in the Christmas Tree Valley Mysteries series by Joyce and Jim Lavene. I have been looking forward to reading this book and was so happy when I got my copy to read. Bonnie Tuttle is a Federal Wildlife Agent; she has lived in Alabama for the past ten years. She has a special gift with animals. Bonnie has moved back home to Christmas Tree Valley to help her mom. Her first day home there is a fire on the island of Sweet Pepper Lake and the death of Harvey Shelton, the wildlife agent she is supposed to replace. Bonnie manages to rescue dozens of animals and a wolf pup from the fire. She needs to find out who the killer is before he comes after her. I love that we see some characters from the author’s other series. If you are looking for a great mystery then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to the next book in this series.
A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

FTC Full Disclosure - A copy of this book was sent to me by the author in hopes I would review it. However, receiving the complimentary copy did not influence my review.

This book is the first in a new series.. I hope!!. A cozy mystery. It kept me reading much later than I planned last evening, but what a GREAT relaxing read! I enjoyed it and was able to immerse myself in the story, From the first page I was hooked... This is an exiting book! I really enjoyed the characters, the setting, and the story line. I couldn‘t put it down!

The people and places were very believable. The characters were engaging. It was a really good mystery to relax with. There are twists and turns to keep you reading to find out whodunit. I was surprised to the end.

I can‘t wait to start the next book in the series. This series is certainly a page turner.
A good book to while away the evening with. The Lavenes' did it again!

Murder Fir Christmas is the first book of a wonderful new series. I loved the book and being back with friends in Sweet Pepper.
Wildlife Agent, Bonnie Tuttle has returned home to take over for the retiring agent.
Bonnie has not even unpacked or been to her home in Christmas Tree Valley yet when a fire breaks out needing her to help rescue wild animals in harms way.
She finds a wolf pup that was shot who needs care.
Two murder victims are discovered at the scene of the fire.
This story grabs you in and takes you along with Bonnie on the start of her new life. A great read and a book I did not want to put down.
I am looking forward to more of Bonnie's adventures as she continues living in Christmas Tree Valley.

I was given an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.

I love that this series has ties to two others written by the Lavenes--The Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade, and Biscuit Bowl Food Truck. Sweet Pepper, Tennessee is one of my favorite fictional towns, and it was good to see so many of the people I know from that series turn up in this book. It was almost like going home for the holidays!

However it is my opinion that this series is going to be able to stand well on its own. Bonnie and Matthew are very personable, as are their friends and families. Bonnie's talent with animals is amazing, and the Native American legend tie-in is perfect. I also fell in love with the wolf puppy who has adopted Bonnie.

I look forward to many more stories from Christmas Tree Valley!

Another brilliant start to a new series! I loved this book and loved that it tied in with two other series Sweet Pepper Fire Brigade and Biscuit Food Bowl mysteries! This is a stand alone series but if you haven't read the other series then you should definitely check them out! Bonnie Tuttle has come home again after a long absent to take over for Harvey Shelton as the new wildlife agent. She certainly didn't expect to be trying to solve his murder as her first case! This book has many twists and turns and will have you up all night reading! I highly recommend this book and any of the other series written by this talented duo! I was given this book for a fair and honest review!

My thoughts: This is the first in the Christmas Tree Valley Mysteries. I was not disappointed in the least. You will recognize some of the characters from other books they authors have written and that makes the story even better. When Federal Wildlife Agent Bonnie finds out about a job back home where she can take care of her mother she jumps at the chance. She has to help rescue animals at Sweet Pepper from a fire. Harvey was killed and the suspect was as well. Now Bonnie has to find the killer along with taking care of her mom amongst other things.

The book was wonderful seeing Bonnie again and the way she handles herself with the Tree Farm and more.

4 STARS

I liked this story. Some of the secondary characters are familiar from Sweet Pepper series. I like Bonnie the main character. She has moved home to take the Wildlife Game position and help her mom.

Bonnie really cares about saving the wildlife where she can. Before she even makes it all the way home she is called to a fire to rescue animals. Where murder happens around her. She also ends up with a wounded wolf pup she rescues.

This has mystery, humor and a touch of paranormal that combine to entertain you. I would love to see more of these characters again. It is a clean read.

I was given this ebook to read for free in return for a honest review.

Another Winner for this author. This new series features all of our favorites from the Sweet Pepper series and introduces us to Bonnie Tuttle. Bonnie arrives in Christmas valley/Sweet Pepper to take over as wildlife officer. First day she arrives her predecessor is killed. This was a good mystery and quick read as always, however, you become attached to Bonnie as she has scars from her past that she is still dealing with. Really enjoyed this book. Highly recommend. this author is a must read for me.

This was one of those books I just couldn't put down.
Bonnie Tuttle has returned to Tennessee after working ten years in Alabama. Even before she reaches her family home, she is caught up in a forest fire, the death of the Wildlife Agent she is to replace, and a snow storm. I really liked the tie ins to the Sweet Pepper and Biscuit Bowl mysteries. I'm looking forward to the next book in this series.
