This is my review for the whole series: these are good books for your early reader. The main characters are clever, real and fun to follow. I did like how the GIRL is impulsive, brave and daring; and the BOY is studious, wise, and a copious note taker. That was a refreshing change. But, the plot is always a bit thin. The story is just getting good and it ends, rather abruptly at times. Even young readers can appreciate a good plot, and I generally feel the books would be much more interesting if they were just a few pages longer. But, overall, a good choice, and educational without seeming to be.

I did not really care for this book. I did not find it to be all that interesting and don't believe my students would, either. I can see that the author is trying to integrate social studies and science into her novel, but it was not working for me.

As a first grader, I loved these books! I read so many in the entire series. It was like traveling from one place to another and learning about those places.
