Containing patterns for more than 120 original stitches and fabrics and a collection of garments, this is a book for anyone interested in machine knitting.
This is hidden gem! When I saw the cover, I was sure it would be nothing more than outdated 80s patterns for sweaters (boxy oversized monsters). Luckily I was wrong. The first section is a wealth of information about technique, shown via several sampler pieces. Many of these are techniques and fabric characteristics I haven't seen in any other machine knitting source. I want to try every one of them! Then at the end, there are clothing patterns, many of them, yes, in 80s styles that won't be too useful today. But this book is worth it for the technique section alone.
Lovely explanations rather than tiny cramped drawings. The book was divided in a logical manner, each section naturally leading into the next and into more and more complex ways to use the machine. There are no specific brand or machine-type sections, so this book could apply to any machine knitter.
What really got me, though, were the samplers. At the end of each section, there are numerous samples to display what had been in the text, with a pattern for the sample AND written instructions. So helpful!
