I think the photos in this book were the first samples of pornography that I ever saw. I was really fascinated and looked at those photos a lot. The essays are interesting too, but maybe too old to be thought provoking in a fresh way. They probably work as a history of the 80s sex wars.
Anyway, my copy of this book has literally fallen apart and is just a bunch of loose sheets between the two covers.
This was one of the first academic arguments made in favor of pornography from a feminist perspective. Some of the articles are long and can be boring, but the information in them is so interesting! “Caught Looking” is a one of a kind study and I’m glad I picked it up, even if it started as a joke.
