A bit dated now (originally published in 1970). But, in its time, this was one of the better works on community control. The emphasis of this volume was the demands by African Americans to have greater participation and influence within their communities.
The volume begins by laying out the issues related to community control, including how we might define that notion. What do we mean by community control? What about the role of ethnicity in urban politics over time? Who represents key interests in the debate? How might community control come about? What are the varying options to achieve this? What atre pluses and minuses?
One of the better works on the subject in its time. . . .
