Eyewitness: 1990-1999

Politics dominated the Nineties, from the toppling of the Iron Lady, ousted by her own party in 1990, to New Labour's massive election victory. The Gulf War caused controversy, with opponents questioning the need for war and supporters disappointed by it's inconclusive ending. There was conflict in Bosnia too, and British troops were sent to the former Yugoslavia as part of the UN peacekeeping force. On December 31st 1999, the elite celebrated in the Millennium Dome. Apocalyptic fears proved groundless, and the Millennium Bug did not cause the expected chaos. The turbulent century came to a quiet end.

I truly enjoy this series. My only complaint has been the lack of compensation for poor audio in the older decades.
This one, however was lacking. I know the 90's where violent especially for the UK and Ireland.
Racial tension, bombing, wars. Sadness all over the world.
Lots of good thing happened too! You just would really know that from this book. Too much focus on the negative for my taste.

This one was a little heavier on the politics than the others in the series, but still very educational. I've learned a lot from the audio programs in this series, not just about Britain, but world events as well. It's so interesting to me to get a look at the British mindset.
