Jill Conner Browne is the multiple #1 New York Times bestselling author of nine Sweet Potato Queens® books and has created a global phenomenon--6,200 chapter groups in 37 countries--based upon her philosophy and world-view as recounted through these rollicking, raucous and riotously funny essays. Women and smart men understand that the bawdy, sassy, down-to-earth humor is simply the vehicle by which the greater message is conveyed--that is, one of self-reliance and empowerment, inspiring all to do what makes their hearts sing.

Jill Conner Browne (aka the Boss Queen) makes me wish I was from the south. Her books are sassy and funny and full of recipies so rich that you gain pounds just reading them. She's middle-aged, has thinning hair and, by Golly, she likes herself. If you need a little encouragement, or just a really funny read, read this. Better yet, listen to it on cd. Her southern drawl will make you love her that much more. And when you're finished, I promise you that you'll want to buy yourself a tiara and some majorette boots. God Save Jill Conner Browne!!!

DNF...

I wanted to like this... I really did. After trying 3 times to get into the book, I finally gave up. The Sweet Potato Queen goes on and on about her life, trying to do so in a comedic way, but it falls flat. I enjoy hilarity, but this is not it.

After I'd finished the book, I read chapters to my husband on a road trip; he found it knee-slapping hilarious. Just as funny the 2nd time for me!
