It gives you a very good knowledge base on the threats that plants face by insects, microorganisms and viruses. A study book always recommended to students for its very useful and easy to read through. I liked reading it. This book contains over 900 pages of knowledge about the microorganisms which cause disease, their symptoms of treatment and management of the disease. Realizing that management is to protect other plants from infection yet there are no ways to treat certain plant diseases and Research is going on. With all our genetic knowledge and labor intensive work we haven't found yet a cure to the simplest organisms. More than 100 years have passed and the microorganisms evolved to resist our antibiotics and cause worldwide loss of crop. This is a challenge for plant pathologists and those who participate to make a change, however small it may be. The question remains what can be done, which treatment can eliminate or manage the disease and which unknown diseases are still waiting to be discovered.
He was my advisor for my Masters so I'm prejudiced. Dr. Agrios has sadly passed away. This is just a great text book especially keeping in mind that English was not his native tongue.
