This book was suggested to me by a trusted spiritual friend who thought I would benefit from the practice of affirmative prayer. As an agnostic with strong atheist tendencies, I was skeptical about any kind of prayer. At first, I was put off by the extremely Christian language of a lot of these prayers as well as by the (unnecessary in my opinion) Bible quotes at the beginnings of each of the prayers. If I disregard the Bible quotes and shift the Christian language to something more neutral that resonates with me, this book suddenly becomes *extremely* useful. These “prayers” are strings of beautifully written affirmations that encourage transformation and a radical shift in perception and perspective. I hope you will experiment with the language and make these “prayer treatments” your own. There’s an affirmative prayer listed in the table of contents for most common problematic situations. Please don’t let the religious language or Bible bits deter you. And if you are a fan of Louise Hay, these prayers are like affirmations on steroids! Powerful and useful and definitely recommended for spiritual seekers who feel stuck, burned out on prayer or are just looking for an alternative way to practice spirituality in their daily lives.
