And if you don t belong, you ll quickly find out what they have nestled inside the Marc Jacob or Louis Vuitton purses they keep closely to them. These females aren t just pretty faces. They were taken out of their beds and placed on the throne by the hustler s they loved. Their only request was that the Emerald City squad remain true. But when Thick, the self proclaimed leader of the clique decides to bring an outside chick into the picture, to floss using the money their girlfriends earned, the security of the operation is jeopardized, sides are chosen and all hell breaks loose. Immediately they decide to remove the gang-stresses from power to prevent their emotions from interfering with business. But it s easier said than done and their ungratefulness only insights their fury. Once they shared their beds together, now they fought a war against one another for the ownership of a million dollar empire. Four women against their ex men. Who will reign supreme? The men who taught them everything they knew about the game? Or the Pitbulls In A Skirt?
This is an on your edge of the seat kind of book. There is no thinking involved- no great big change in people at the end after they see the way they've been living is evil. Nothing like that. It's a drama-filled quick read that I did enjoy reading. I have to agree with a friend and say that for me, the best thing about the book was fact that the females take over in the end. Well, the end of THIS book I should say because, as we all know and have come to expect, there is a sequel. The characters were cool- I just wish a ugly chick would be stuck in a book sometimes. Not out of jealousy- just for the sake of being different. I don't see fashion models everytime I walk out my door so it's a little far fetched to read a book with every female being over the top smoking hot. It's all great but just not very realitic and for me, the fun of reading something like this is partly the suspense of 'what if?' I liked Thick's character a lot- he was grimy as hell and not the kind of happily ever after guy you sometimes get stuck with. The real world isn't happily ever after all the time so they shouldn't be in all the books I read either. The females characters carried the entire book though- that's for sure in my opinion. Malone did a good job and I will read the sequel but I'll read it when I'm in a non thinking mood and reading for some drama....

Beyoncé said it best when she announced women ran the world, and these four women confirmed that statement. In a game where men mostly wrecked havoc and owned, these ladies four ladies creeped into the top spot.
From beginning to end, I was entertained. There was so much drama that you couldn't help but be pulled into. Just when I assumed that I would be in love with Mercedes character, her light dimmed for me. Yvette's light on the other hand brightened, but not without me noticing that her attitude slick was like her man's Thick. Some of the twists threw me for a loop, while others didn't excite me. The ending has me ready to dive into part 2.
Its just about the most fun I have had reading a book lately. Its really not my kind of story, if you look at what I typically pick up for a pulp fiction read. But I couldn't put it down. I am VERY picky. If I can pull a plot apart I usually stop reading. The plot is tight. The characterization is natural and compelling. Honestly I had just about given up on the current crop of light novel authors. So this really made me happy. Its just very good.
what i learned from this book is that you could never realy know is you never realy can know a person or trust them fully.I say that because one day the peson could say i love you then the next they can kill you.
This plus the movie?! Yea ok. Honestly this book inspired me as a writer! I loved how balanced the story was even with 4 main characters and storylines. After that ending I’m a bit nervous about part 2 🥴 I hope none of my favorite characters gotta die 😭
This was the first book I read by this author and I was definitely not disappointed. I love when I read a storyline that can keep me on the edge of my seat and pulls me into the story. I started to feel like these were my friends and could feel their ups and downs.
I enjoyed it how the women were in control it was a totaly brutal shit. Yvette is a G for real .... Also, I would like to thank hot skirt store for gifting me this book.
Dang them girls was on point here. The men allowed Thick to get into their heads and cost them to loose everything they had including their women. Now onto book 2.
‘’Set It off’’ by F. Gary Gray reminds me of this story. Both are about a group of female friends that grew up in the projects and they all want money so they will do whatever to get it. Even if they have to rob, steal,or kill to get it. The main characters are Mercedes, Yvette, Kenyetta and Carissa, a group of girls that had it rough growing up in Emerald city, one of D.C’s dangerous projects. These girls are cutthroat, they carry guns in their designer purses, and run a drug empire with their hustler boyfriends. Much like Stoney, Cleo, TeeTee, and from SET IT OFF. These girls just want to get enough money to move out the projects and live a better life. Pit Bulls In A Skirt was a good book and I couldn't put the book down. One of those parts where I couldn’t put the book down was when Yvette's boyfriend Thick cheats on her with this girl and the girl lies about being pregnant by him just to get money from him and he ends up asking her to marry him. It seemed like Yvette and Thick should’ve gotten married because they’ve been together for years and she help build his empire. Another part that caught my attention is when their close friends Stacia and Dex are killed it breaks their trust with one another because it was an inside job and they all want to figure out who was behind it. If you thought ‘’set it off’’ was a good movie then ‘’pit bulls in a skirt’’ by Mikal Malone would be a good story for you to read, Mikal Malone will teach you about betrayal, love. And honesty.
this was a not exciting read. this had plenty of spelling errors and it was all boring just like jury duty. actually i would rather do jury duty and spend time in jail for a week and it would be more exciting than this crap here. i dont know who the author is and i do not care neither. the pen game is not theirs and they need to give it up. i could not finish it at all and i skipped pages and it still was boring. sorry i wasnt a fan. i bought the book and sold it all within 72 hours.
Sucessfully different. Many books try to write about women in charge and it fails because it's too unrealistic/corny/I can't get into it. I liked this one because it portrayed real emotions from all the women; none were perfect; and they all had to pay for mistakes in life and love but held it together to try to stay on top.
This book was just OK to me I hope thing pickup in part 2 or 3. I had this book on my shelf for over a year and just got around to reading it. It had a nice flow but the author or editor kept mixing up the he's with the she's so that kind didn't go woo good with me.
The Emerald City Squad deserved everything they got. I couldn’t believe that they really thought things were fine and trusted Thick’s scandalous behind. This is a good book and has a good combination of greed, grimness and betrayal. However, the women had a real friendship and stood together.
The first time I read this book, I loved it. Now it's just ok. It had too many different characters. I lost track of who everyone was and who was daring who.
