What started as a light and sweet romance took a distinctly (and distinctly unexpected) dark turn toward the end. Really more of a novella than a full-fledged novel, which made for one-dimensional characters and as instant a case of insta-love that I can remember encountering (a proposal after one conversation has got to be some kind of record). Overall, I didn't dislike the story, but I doubt I'll remember much about it in a few days.
