These subjects, united in a course of education, to a critical knowledge of our own language, and of the works of its best authors, with the acquirement of the living languages of France, Italy, Spain, or Ger many, a familiar acquaintance with arith~ metic and the principles of book-keeping, and perhaps also some practice in the art of drawing, are considered as more than a counterpoise for, seven years drudgery, passed in learning Latin and Greek.
