Slade’s priorities are his job and his security team. He’s never been interested in a picket fence, or answering to the same woman for the rest of his life. Those are attachments he doesn’t need. But when he goes to check on the boy left behind by the death of his employee’s ex-wife, Slade isn’t expecting to find Bethany Simmons. The computer programmer is smart as a whip and classically beautiful, and Slade can’t help but to take notice.
When Bethany contacted Slade Security to let them know of her sister’s death, she never thought it would be Slade himself who would show up. The hulking mass of hotness, with his tanned skin and gray-streaked hair, instantly makes her insides melt. Despite her attraction, though, Bethany worries that he’s come to take away her nephew—and she’s not going to let that happen.
It’s in Slade’s nature to protect people; but when the ex-Navy SEAL barges into Bethany’s life, she doesn’t know how to handle him. She’s used to settling her own affairs and her priority is finding a way to adopt little Jason. But soon, a secret could change everything for both them…

This was slightly better than His Stubborn Lover because the characters had more personality, but um... the story was just not that appealing. Years ago, Slade had a one night stand with his best friend's ex-wife. When she lost her battle against cancer, he found out that she had a child. The child was his, and then he falls in love with her sister.
Yea... a bit messed up right?
The romance between Slade and Bethany moves extremely fast. By the time I was done with the book, I felt like it was unfinished. Is Slade ever going to tell his best friend? I don't know if I'll move onto book 3....
He slept with her sis, a one night stand, the sister who just happened to be the new ex wife of his best friend and employee...good guy...I think not. Bethany was a real pita who facilitated between strong and wimpy. Plus it just ended without any resolution to the child Jason and his health issue. Set up for the next book in the series? Thank goodness it was free.
When her sister became ill Bethany put her life on hold to be there for her and her nephew Jason. Now that her sister has passed away Bethany wants to give Jason the stability he needs and believes that adopting him is the best way for that to happen, but she never expected that trying to contact Brock, her sister’s ex, would bring Slade into her life.
Slade is a partner with Brock at Slade Security who decides to visit Bethany as Brock is out of town. He has some questions he needs answered about Jason’s father and the answer will bind Bethany and Slade together as they try to do what is right for everyone involved.
There is no denying the attraction between Bethany and Slade, but they have some challenges to overcome both when it comes to the past and the present.
I’m having such a good time with the Slade Security Team series and loved His Secret Child. Slade received a message from the past, from the sister of the woman who had divorced his partner, his best friend, Brock (who we met in His Stubborn Lover). He made the trip to Bethany’s home with the thought of a quick in, find out what she wanted and get out fast. But as often happens with plans he got more than a few surprises on this trip to the past… and perhaps into his future.
His Secret Child is a relatively short story, so saying too much would be giving away parts of the story that each reader should really discover on their own. Yet, I fell in love with this couple, and one small boy almost immediately. There is no bad guy, no villain to be tracked down just a woman who couldn’t face the truth and her death revealed far more than Slade was ready to hear.
Bethany and Slade have a lot of unanswered questions to navigate as well as their intense attraction to each other, but at the heart of it all is one little boy who lost his mother and cannot lose his aunt as well. Bethany is stubborn, independent, and realistic. Slade is certainly a silver fox with more than a few secrets of his own but combined with Bethany and Jason his world was far more complete and complex than he ever bargained for.
We’ll be updated a bit about the story arc that covers this series, steamy moments as two people give in to an attraction too strong to ignore, and life changes for them both. I enjoyed returning to this world so much… but I don’t intend to give away this world’s secrets either. If you love a sizzling romance with a few secrets, lots of emotions, and a realistic couple to champion – then His Secret Child is perfect for you.

This is book two of the Slade Security Team series and the main characters are Bethany Simmons and Jensen Slade. Bethany called Slade Security upon the death of her half-sister Tayra as instructed, but Slade turned up not Brock Wells, Tayra’s former husband. Bethany has been helping to care for Jason, Tayra’s son with Brock and wants to adopt him herself, wanting Brock to sign over his parental rights to her. She had been expecting Brock to turn up, but he was still busy on a case overseas, so Slade had come, to find out what the situation was. Jason is ten, so was born after Tayra and Brock got divorced and Bethany was under the impression that he knew about Jason and didn’t want to know anything about him. It seems Tayra had lied to more than just Brock! Bethany gave up her apartment and came to help look after her sister while she battled cancer and with Jason. Luckily she could do her computer programming and coding from anywhere, preferring not to work from an office. Jason also has issues with one of his legs and is going to need surgery, but she has received different advice from two specialists, which hasn’t helped. She has been home schooling Jason, amidst a small community of other home schooled children, so he has some interaction with other kids, but not as much as in a normal school set up. Slade can see loads of things that need improvement with Tayra’s house, obviously having been overlooked for some years, especially whilst Tayra was ill and Bethany seems to be too exhausted to manage much more. She doesn’t take Slade’s forceful persona well, especially when he tries to take charge with everything, making changes with the furniture, food and even doctor’s appointments! Both of them are attracted to each other and though Slade kisses her once and tries to pull back away and not get involved, Bethany just manages to push his buttons and ends up wanting him as much as he ends up wanting her. He has avoided having any sort of relationship with anything more than a one night stand, knowing the danger emotions can bring to the type of dangerous work he does and has seen what the separation can do to marriages. She is scared of putting Jason through a big operation in a hospital, so soon after his own mother went into one and never came back out. Slade helps her to see she may be limiting him in some ways, but she is worried about making issues worse and they both have their nightmares about recent events. There is a shocking revelation for them both, as a final secret of Tayra’s is figured out. It brings more issues with his good friend and partner Brock, and the rest of his team stateside enjoy making light hearted fun of him as they finally see him involved with a woman and a ready-made family. Bethany does her own checking up on Slade, his company and his past, although there isn’t that much out there. He has also asked his tech experts to do the same about her, Tayra and Jason! Slade wants to help both Bethany and Jason, and she eventually comes to an agreement with him about the future. So long as it is done with communication between them and not arranged solely by him ahead of time. He gets on great with Jason, who has taken to him straight away and obviously missed out on a male role model in his life. I loved how this story had so many crossovers to events from the first book, even though it is a totally separate romance and can be read as a standalone book. There are security issues still ongoing overseas for his team and I look forward to seeing how it all works out in the next book in the series. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
His Secret Child is book two of the Slade Security Team series. Its Slades story. While Slade is in Jawhara he receives a call from a Bethany Simmons the sister of Tayra Wells, Tayra is the ex-wife to Brock his partner at Slade Security and best friend since they were kids, she was calling to inform him and Brock of the passing of her sister and she left instructions they were to be contacted. Bethany was puzzled why Tayra wanted Slade there when Jason was Brocks son but hopefully things would get cleared up eventually. Slade decides to go without relaying this information to Brock to check things out first, make sure things were as they appeared to be and not some set up or scam, he always looked out for his employees they were his family. When Slade gets to Tayra’s house and meets Bethany first off Slade has never been one to think about settling down, marriage, house, white picket fence and children, Nope…but, when Slade see’s Bethany she’s absolutely beautiful and he can’t help but take notice, and the feelings mutual when Bethany see’s Slade one look at him and she pretty much goes weak in the knees but, she isn’t about to let anyone take her nephew from her…Not even a silver fox like Slade. The more time Bethany and Slade are together trying to figure out things and what to do for Jason their attraction for one another continues growing, out of left field the light bulb goes off and it shines bright enough things enough things come to light so to speak and all three of their situations could change their lives. This is an amazing story. Absolutely loved it. I could not put this book down. Ms. North draws you in from page one and you just can’t put it down until you are done. She has quickly been moved to my favorite authors list. I highly recommend this series. You will not be disappointed. I received an Advance Reader’s Copy and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinions.
This is the story of Jenson Slade and Bethany. Slade owns Slade Security with his close friend and business partner Brock Wells (for Brock's story, read Slade Security Team #1). Bethany is a mobile phone software developer and half-sister of Brock's ex-wife Tayra. As this story begins, Tayra had just passed away from breast cancer. Bethany had requested Brock, but Brock is on assignment in Jawhara, so Slade sees Bethany in Brock's place.
Bethany is with a young boy who has difficulty with his legs. She tells Slade he is her nephew, Tayra's son Jason. Tayra had told Bethany that Brock knew about his son and was sending child support checks. Bethany tells Slade that Brock is Jason's father. When Slade shockingly reacts to that announcement, Bethany realizes Tayra had lied to her and that Tayra never told Brock he was a father.
Not knowing if Bethany is telling the truth (Jason is small for his age and does not resemble Brock), Slade decides to investigate Tayra, Bethany, and Jason before informing Brock about Jason.
Bethany wants to adopt Jason and raise him herself, without interference from Brock or Slade. Will that happen? Sparks fly between Bethany and Slade--can their mutual attraction turn into something more? Can't say more--don't want to include any spoilers--this is very interesting, a page-turner, and a five-star read.

This book was amazing and the characters are so believable and they keep you turning the pages but makes it sad that the book has to end. Jenson Slade owns Slade security with his business partner Brock. Slade gets a call saying Brock’s ex wife Tayra is dying of cancer and needs to speak to Brock about his son Jason which Bethany Simmons wants to adopt because it’s her nephew but Slade wonders if the boy is his after he had a one night stand with Tayra all those years ago. Bethany wants to adopt her nephew Jason after her sister died of cancer who needs medical help and surgery on his leg and when she calls Slade security to speck to Brock about his son but Slade answers and tells her he is out of the country but when he shows up to check on the boy she knows straight away that the boy is his but that doesn’t change her plans even as the hot silver fox makes her girly parts take notice she won’t be distracted or so she hopes. When Slade meet the sexy as sin computer programmer Bethany Simmons his attraction and desire to be with her is so different from the normal women he dates could she be the one he that could make him settle down. This is a must read book that takes you into the lives of Slade security and the men and woman that they fall for and settle down.

The Call That Changed His Life - When Slade decided to go and investigate the reason for Bethany’s call, the last thing he expected was to uncover a secret and have to reveal his own secret. Bethany thought she would just a signature and be done with it, but what she didn’t expect was to uncover the lies her sister had fed her and meet the person who would change their lives forever. Their connection was instant, but their stubbornness caused them to be continuously at loggerheads, which made their interactions really interesting and entertaining. It would take spending time together and learning to compromise for them to finally acknowledge they were meant to be together.
I really enjoyed reading this book. The emotional roller-coaster these two go through will have you itching to turn the pages, whilst wondering whether they put get their act together. I didn’t think it could get any better after reading book one, but I can say the author did an amazing job with this story. The five star rating and recommendation is very well deserved.

I loved this quick story. Slade is trying to help his best friend Brock by intercepting and investigating a call from the family of Brock's ex-wife. He goes to check out the situation only to find the ex is dead, and her step-sister is caring for a young boy who it turns out is the ex-wife’s child. A child that looks nothing like Brock but does look like someone familiar. Almost 10 years ago Slade did a bad thing but now that he knows just how bad it turned out he is going to take full responsibility and fix everything, meaning steamroll over everyone… he thinks…but…Bethany has been helping care for Jason, her dead sister’s son off and on for years and full time since her sister got really sick and died. So now Bethany wants to adopt Jason, she loves him and he feels like she is his second mom. This is such a beautiful story of a macho man who feels he needs no one but finds a deep love for two people he just met. I receive a free advanced copy of this story from Booksprout. My review is my honest opinion of this story. Linda
Slade is the owner of a security company and has been contacted by one of his friends ex's sister. When he turns up, the ex has passed away and the sister is looking after her son. Bethany wants to adopt her nephew now that her sister has passed away, but she needs to make sure that his father doesn't want to fight her for him. She contacts Slade to try to get in touch with her nephew's father, but when Slade turns up instead she has to deal with him. However, it soon seems that the person she thought was the father isn't and Slade is getting more involved with them than she wanted. But should they act on the attraction that they feel towards each other when they live such completely different lives and what happens when the truth about her nephew's father is revealed.
I enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it. I am looking forward to future books in the series.

The second book in the Slade Security Security has Slade showing up at his partner, Brock ex-wife, Tayla's home at the request of her sister, Bethany to discover that Tayla had just passed from cancer. To his surprise, he discovered Tayla had a son that he nor Brock knew anything about. Slade knew from the moment he met Bethany life for him was about to change forever. Slade was use to being the boss with everyone falling into line, when he spoke. Bethany was a strong, independent woman that had taken care of herself for years, she was not about to let Slade come in and take things over without her having something to say about it. Her nephew, Jason needs surgery was way she needed Slade's help, but there was a question of paternity. A fabulous read as these two banter their way to a happily ever after.

This is book 2 of the Slade Security Team series. One day Bethany contacts Slade Security because she wants to tell Brock that his ex-wife and her sister Tayra has died of cancer and that she plans to meet her nephew. to adopt. Unfortunately, Brock is on an assignment on the other side of the world. Because bee is not present, Slade goes to Bethany himself to see if he can do something. And Bethany has a little bit of a feeling that something isn't quite right and that her nephew doesn't really look much like Brock. The storyline and the structure are perfectly done and the main characters and their characters are also well presented. How it goes between Slade, Bethany and Brock when you find out that his ex-wife has passed away, you will find out when you read their story yourself. This book is definitely recommended!!

Not yet, Maybe. Wonderful book. Slade goes to check on the situation with his business partner’s late ex wife. He was summoned by her sister and is surprised to find a young boy believed to be his partner’s that no one knew about. Bethany just wants paperwork signed over so she can adopt her nephew legally. What neither expect is to fall for each other nor discover that Slade is actually the boy’s father. Bethany and Slade have a lot of issues to work out without Slade steamrolling everything. He realizes that he loves her and wants to find a way for them all to be together. Can Bethany trust his motives or is it just a ploy for Slade to get his son? Figuring out what makes you happy is not always easy.

Slade shows up in Oregon to touch base with Bethany the sister of his partner’s ex-wife. He discovers a son that he did not know about. He finds out Bethany’s sister had told her that she had told the father but is now finding that her sister lied to her. There are a lot of twists and turns in this story. Jason, the boy, has some health issues that need to be addressed. Bethany is struggling with her business and raising a child. Slade wants to help but also has questions about who the father of the child really is. Bethany wants to adopt Jason and wants to have no interference in the adoption. Wonderful story with twists and turns.

This is the second book in the Slade Security Team series. This series of interconnected stories (indeed!), and is also interconnected with The Jawhara Sheikhs series Slade and Bethany's story is sweet, original and interesting. Slade, an ex-Navy SEAL, and the owner of Slade Security, is sweet, supportive,, and kind. Bethany is a computer programmer, and the guardian of her sister's son Jason (Tanya was Brock's ex-wife). She is smart, feisty, strong, and determined. Slade and Bethany are great together. The supporting characters are great. The story has some interesting twists. Looking forward to reading His Innocent Lover, the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Secrets came out and love was redirected! This is about Slade, Bethany, and Jason. Bethany has asked for Brock to meet her as she thought her late sister never told him about Jason, but in turn, Slade shows up instead of Brock as he is out of the country working. After a night together, while drinking coffee, she realizes that Slade must be the father and not Brock, and things shake-up after everything is discovered. Slade is a man of his word and he made sure to take control of the situation as he is trained to do being an ex-SEAL and all, but one thing he can’t get her to do after trying every day is to say YES! Love it.

After reading, His Stubborn Lover, I couldn't wait to read Slade and Bethany's story. His Secret Child book two of the Slade Security Team Series by Leslie North finds Slade on the doorstep to his best friend's deceased wife. With limited options Bethany calls on help from her sister's ex, Brock only to get a visit from his friend Jensen Slade. The chemistry between Bethany and Slade is off the charts but Bethany has her hands full raising her sister's son and she fully intends to adopt him so she is determined to convince Brock to give up his parental tights and allow her to adopt Jason. Only things are not exactly as they seem. What will happen when Slade and Bethany learn the truth? Will Slade walk away or will he stay and fight for a chance?
Bethany told Slade that his business partner's Ex her sister has died and left a son. Bethany contacted Slade Security and spoke to Slade informing him that his business partner Brock's ex wife her sister has died leaving behind a son. He arrives trying to figure what Bethany's angle is. But seeing her nephew Jason comes as a shock as he looks nothing like Brock. Bethany tells Slade she needs help with some treatment the boy needs and to get Brock to agree to let her adopt Jason. Slade knows it is going to get more complicated than that.

So Much Going on with Book 2! In Leslie North’s “His Secret Child,” Book 2 of the Slade Security series, company frontman Slade finds more than he bargained for when he travels to meet Bethany, his business partner’s former sister-in-law. Slade is gorgeous - if a little intense - and he is instantly attracted to the strong, beautiful computer programmer despite the heaviness of the situation he finds himself in. So much going on in this story, and the cast of characters includes favorites from this and the Jawhara Sheiks series. Really enjoyed the story overall despite having a little trouble with Slade’s past decisions that come to the forefront. Looking forward to Book 3!
This is the second book in Slade Security Team series. You don't have to read book one to enjoy this one but they are connected. Brocks ex tried to get in contact with him but he is overseas so Slade heads to Oregon to find out what’s going on. Instead of Brocks ex Slade finds her sister Bethany and her son Jason. Slade and Bethany clash over everything but their attraction is strong. Bethany is very strong willed which is good because Slade has a tendency to control and run everything. Steamy, entertaining, and low drama. Looking forward to book three.

His secret child by Leslie North. Book 2 of Slade Security Team. Slade only cares about two things…his job and his team. He’s never been interested in settling down or starting a family. Those are attachments he doesn’t need. But when he goes to check on the boy left behind by the death of his business partner’s ex-wife, Slade meets Bethany Simmons. This computer programmer is smart as a whip and beautiful as well. And Slade can’t help but take notice. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I do love this author. Great read and characters. 5*.
4.5***** stars. This one is complicated. Slade gets a call that his business partner’s ex-wife has died and left her son, that no one knew about, with her sister Bethany. She wants to adopt him and is hoping he doesn’t cause any problems. Timing of the boys birth has him thinking about paternity and how it will affect his partner. He insists on staying around for awhile and that fuels the attraction between them. The thing is, can he give up his son now that he’s gotten attached?.

I was drawn to the story because it was so complicated. Slade had an affair with his best friend's ex-wife. When he receives a call saying she has passed away and left behind a young son. Slade decides to go to Oregon to pay his respects. He is stunned to see the young boy who is his son. He also meets the boy's Aunt Bethany. They have an instant chemistry. It is a definite rollercoaster ride with this story.

Leslie North has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Bethany and Slade. Bethany had to call Slade in order to get word to Brock that her sister and his ex-wife had died. She thinks that he is the father of her nephew Jason. Bethany watches as Slade walks up to the house as she and Jason are leaving. She said, "You must be Slade.' " I'm sorry for your loss..." She tells him that she and Jason are going to get Ice cream. He takes them to get the ice cream and when they come back, Bethany and Slade have a talk. She tells him that she wants Brock to sign papers so that she could adopt Jason. Slade wants to know what all she wants. She said that all she wanted was for Jason to get what he deserved. After their talk, Slade said that he needed to go and get his room. She tells him the closest hotel was fifty miles away and she would not recommend the B&B in town. She tells him that he could sleep in the spare room but he had to leave the next morning. Things don't go the way she plans for them to. She finds out that Brock is not Jason's father but Slade is. She tells him that he is not going to take Jason away from her. He tells her that he wants them to be in his life and that they could work things out. He asked about Jason's next appointment for his leg and she tells him when it is. He makes arrangements for Jason to see someone in San Diego and then he tells Bethany about it. She gets upset over how he is just taking over and she is not having it. Slade wants to know what is keeping her from going with him to San Diego since she works from home and Jason is home-schooled there is nothing to stop her from going. Will Bethany and Slade work things out and get together or will she go back home with Jason? This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.
