Having recently read Zora Neale Hurston's "Their Eyes Were Watching God" and then the graphic bio "Fire!!" about her, I was curious to learn more about her life. I found this short biography in the library, part of a series "Black Americans of Achievement" from the '90's. It served my purpose very well, giving me a good overview that supplements what I learned in "Fire!!" while giving what seems to me a balanced view of Zora's controversial opinions (and she was very opinionated!). There are also lots of photos that enhanced the experience. This is a very quick read, really a YA type book though not shelved that way.
