3.5 Planned Stars. Having a life plan is good, right? Being inflexible with that plan is bad. Elizabeth Shaw refuses to deviate from her life plan. In order to achieve that plan, she has just transferred from NYC to Chicago. On the day she moves into her new house her plan starts to deviate and her life quickly spirals out of control. Plan Interrupted is about office intrigue, power, and control vs family, love, and loyalty. There’s a lot going on in this one. Sometimes you’ll want to smack Elizabeth upside the head, but she does eventually figure out her priorities and gains maturity in regard to the important things in life. Joe is steady throughout as you’d expect him to be. While much of the happenings in Plan Interrupted are very heavy there is also a lot of hope. It’s worth checking out.

A wonderful interruption

Amazing story of love, mystery with a touch of chilling thriller thrown in for good measure. Career driven Elizabeth passionately dislikes noisy children, slobbering dogs, and arrogant men. In fact she has no time nor do interest in anything but climbing the corporate ladder. Joe, her next door neighbor is a single dad with two young children. They hit it off like water trying to mix with oil, but eventually love blossoms between them. Enter the owner of her company and his inept nephew and things get weird when she has to travel from her new home in Chicago back to New York City for a few days. Elizabeth has come to love Joe's two kids and they love her equally. Now all.her career plans have flown out the window as she opts to put love first. A beautiful story.

Slow burn

Less than positive meeting, she's rigid and unexperienced in social life, always with a plan for her career. He's raising his 2 children and running his Architecture firm. This is a slow, sweet trip to a different life for them all. Unexpected, some tough times, some danger. Some loose threads( her family), but we'll worth the investment!

Nice story

Fun to see the change in Elizabeth as she becomes acquainted with her new neighbors. Things seemed to be going along nicely until she returns to her New York for meetings. Then something awful occurs and she can't/won't tell anyone about it. Things begin to get dramatic until the end. And an HEA.

Elizabeth has a plan. A plan that doesn't include a man. She wants to have her career on track, proving that she can be the person her parents aren't convinced she can be. Her job transfers her from New York to a suburb of Chicago, where she buys a house and is on the fast track to upper management. She has had a pretty secluded life, never having celebrated things (even holidays), she is quite disappointed to be moving next door to a man with loud children. Joe is kind of put off by the woman that obviously has a stick up her butt. He just can't stay away from the woman.
At first I was put off by Elizabeth. She is set on her plan and being number one at work that it's an obsession. Even seeing her out with her friends, she never lets loose. Her dislike for the "noisy children" was a big of a barrier for me, but I hung on, hoping she would change her point of view. The neighbor, Joe, was just so tasty. He's a great dad, always putting his children before anything. And the fact that he's willing to help Elizabeth when needed, despite the tension between them, really makes him a stand up guy. In addition to the romance, there is a bit of suspense in the second half of the story. A terrible thing happens to Elizabeth at a holiday party, and your heart just goes out to her. As her heart melts to the guy next door, your heart will melt for the story. Once you start reading, it's hard to stop. Elizabeth does become a likable person, I promise, so don't let the stick up her butt keep you from finishing this story. I recommend this for romantic suspense fans.

Elizabeth Shaw has her life planned out. She never steps away from the plan. Never letting anything get in the way. Not friends, men or family. Moving to Chicago from New York is part of the plan. Finding a house she loved, she couldn't wait to move in. Seeing toys and bikes out doors next door, she questions who her neighbor is and how many children they have. She doesn't need the noise. Meeting Joe Antonetti and his two children didn't exactly get them off to a good start. Joe thought Elizabeth a beautiful women but she really needed to loosen up. As they are thrown together more often then either of them like, things start heating up. Sometimes life is better then what you plan.

Loved Elizabeth, she started out so unbending. As her past comes to light, you see why. Who can resist two children who insist on trying to be her friend or they hot and sexy father. Joe has been raising his children on his own since his wife's death. He didn't think he would ever move on, but Elizabeth sneaks into that open and empty place in his heart. There is so much they need to work through and when something tragic happens to Elizabeth. She needs to learn to learn to let people who love her help her through it. Definitely one of the must read books this year. Loved the flow and the direction of the story. I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.

When a girl's got a plan, a girl's got a plan. Career Focussed Elizabeth has a plan to achieve her ambitions, which doesn't leave time for anything or anyone else.

Single dad Joe, Elizabeth's neighbour, knows that plans can fall apart. His children, Max and Molly, are his number one priority and he has made changes to his life to ensure this.

When they first meet, it is hate at first sight as Elizabeth's disgust for Joe's children is plain to see. But children have a way of wheedling their way into your heart without you noticing. This softens Elizabeth and makes her more likeable than the cold, judgemental woman she appears to be at the beginning. Coupled with events that change her perspective, the plan becomes not that important.

I loved seeing the change in Elizabeth as she softens after being welcomed by Joe and his family. She is able to see a life beyond work and the love she never had as a child. Joe is a fantastic man: kind, compassionate and puts others first. It was a fun and at times emotional read with a perfect blend of romance and plot twists to keep you on the edge of your seat.

There’s more to some women that meets the eye.. And it takes the right kind of man to unleash her secrets.

I think the tag line present at the cover rightly summarizes the plot aptly. I am always happy when there is a romantic book involved in my reading lists; but throw in a couple of twists and a thrilling end, and you will make it a perfect day for me.

I liked the character depiction of Elizabeth Shaw because to some extent I could relate and understand her, since I suffer through the same emotional reticence. However, my favorite character would be that of Joe Antonetti. He is a dream mate that a girl could want and ask for. And the fact that he is perfect for the father of the decade award makes him more appealing. The characters may have been fictional, but the narration has been so accurate and apt that one could only wish for them to leap out of the pages. It has been an absolute pleasure to see the lead characters grow out of their shell, envelope the readers in their lives and in their bond, and reach a destination of happily ever after.

Elizabeth has a plan. Her life plan is streamlined and focused solely on her career. But, when she meets her neighbor and his children things begin to change. What she once wanted now seems to be less important, but when the unspeakable happens and she is stalked by that person she must decide what is really important. Should she stick the plan at all costs or just go with what life has in store for her?

I really enjoyed this book. Elizabeth is a very strong but flawed character. She hides behind her plan so that she doesn’t have to face the harsh world. Unfortunately, the harshness finds her and she is forced to face things she never planned for. Woven into this is a sweet love story. Not just a story about a man and a woman but her love for his children also. With the great romance and suspense expertly woven together any reader will find it difficult putting this book down until the last page is turned. If I wasn’t already a fan of Valerie Clarizio, I would be one after reading this book.

I'm at Chapter 7 and I don't think I can read any more. This heroine is making me cringe so hard. She's so uptight and judgemental. So far she's been rude to nearly everyone new she's met and found some reason to disapprove of them such as judging them as 'unprofessional'. She basically had a tantrum when she lost a card game. She's cold to her neighbour's kids. I'm actually surprised she didn't kick the dog when it licked her hand and she was disgusted.

I assume the heroine will develop as the story goes on but I feel she's started off too extreme and I can't understand why she has any friends at all. I'm not sure her she can redeem herself enough to satisfy me.

I finished the book, but it was challenging at times. I found myself skipping large portions of the book as it seemed to drone on and on and on. Elizabeth aggravated me and was unrealistic from the beginning (to me) and Joe was truly a fantasy of goodness which is also unrealistic (to me). I feel badly giving three stars because the author probably worked very hard putting this book together. Plan Interrupted just wasn't well written and I was bored with some of it.

The heroine of this never really resonated with me. The author was good about giving her an obvious journey, I just never quite liked her character.
