I should have known those eyes meant trouble… The last person I expected to bump into at a wedding was billionaire Archer Talbot, but there he was in all his shining armor, witty-charm perfection. I was ready to forget him... until he put that chivalry into action and went all dream man on me.
Now he has a proposal—marry him for thirty days and pocket a million dollars in the process. It's a mutually beneficial arrangement, he says. He needs a wife to keep his company and I need money—bad. No job, a pending eviction and a dependent sister have seen to that.
But I promised myself I'd only marry for love, that I wouldn't end up with a cheating ass like my father. I've got trust issues, yes, but they're sure as hell justified.
It’s only supposed to be a temporary arrangement, a business transaction, but I’m not so sure. Question is, can a relationship that started as a sham become something more, something... amazing?
Teagan Kade thinks talking about yourself in the third person is silly, just like her collection of snow globes and rare manga. When she's not being silly, she's hanging out with her own Storm and two children in the south of Australia, dreaming of new characters and torturous ways they can get themselves into trouble. Teagan loves hearing from her readers, all of whom are as dear to her heart as salted caramel cookies. Shoot her an email at: teagan@teagankade.com. She doesn't bite.
This book was relatively short and not too taxing. It was pretty far fetched and not in the least believable. I didn't feel any depth of the characters and some parts of the story were left unexplained like the episode with Archer's Mother, another with his brother and the embezzlement in his company, all were just skimmed over, there was a real lack of story surrounding them. Finally there were a lot of grammatical errors and mistakes which is a real pet peeve of mine.
I picked this one up as a freebie and voluntarily leave my honest review. This one just wasn't for me and I had to make myself finish in the hopes it got more enjoyable, but for me it just didn't. It was told in only Jemma's POV and she honestly annoyed me, she came across really self-centred, judgemental and not very likeable at all. Archer seemed perfect from what we were told, happy to throw his money at Jemma to fix everything and swept her off her feet, though even though they got married for the wrong reasons to start, they then decided to marry again with out once saying they love each other?!?! It was quite short so maybe that played a part in the lack of character development. Overall this one wasn't really to my liking.
This was a ridiculously funny story, full of one-liners, simple puns and good chemistry between the main couple. As far as the storyline goes, don't expect any unusual twists, visible conflicts or big rivals. It is straightforward, the main characters are really honest, there's minimal problems between them, and the little bit of drama added doesn't amount to anything in the end.
I was pretty entertained for at least 60% of the book, and then some drama is added, which didn't led anywhere and was solved pretty quickly, followed by make-up sex. Indeed, sexual encounters are not lacking, but I would have liked that some antagonistic elements were explored more deeply than they were, since they were linked directly to Archer, and were solved rapidly, leaving me questioning were that part of the story went.
I wonder if this book has a sequel? It was kind of strange because they got married after meeting once after three days or was it two? They sleep with each other immediately and they decide to make things serious and the marriage permanent within few days...but until the end of the book they never said "I love you" or did not give the indication that they were falling in love with each other. It was clear that yes, they wanted to stay married...but the book kind of ended with things hanging! For instance, there was no discussion or discussion regarding the H relation with his mother and brother or how they treated the h...
Jemma's life had to completely fall apart before she would even consider Archer's proposal. Parts of the book were predictable, like Archer's mom offering to pay to send Jemma packing. I wish Jemma had either told his mom off or at least there was some resolution to that conflict in the story. There was a brief (perhaps a little too brief) brush with the law over embezzlement. But overall, it was an enjoyable quick read, even though the premise was a bit unrealistic.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I got the ARC in exchange for an honest review. To start off this book lacked everything from character development, to the not-original plot and in one word was a disappointment. The story was so unbelievable and unrealistic just like the characters who only annoyed me by their very predictive behavior. I only finished it because it was ARC otherwise I would have given up at first 10%.
Jemma is taking wedding pictures of her ex wedding though she did know how many people that showed up. Jemma was told were her meal would be when she got there a man was sitting at the table. Jemma thought he was one of the waiters and then realized he was not a waiter. Archer introduced himself to her and then he excused himself to leave telling her hope they meet again. Jemma car dies and the rain is pouring just in a time a limousine pulls up and it was Archer himself. He takes her home and he tells her he has a proposition for her and to meet him at his office the next day. She goes to meet Archer and his proposition is to marry him for a month so he can take control of the company. Archer offers her a million dollars at which point she tells him to get lost. The next day though she finds out that she is being evicted and she loses her job. Meanwhile Archer gave her 24 hours to figure out what she was going to do. Jemma goes to see Archer and is whisked way to meet him. They are married in a private ceremony with a witness. Archer and Jemma decide to make it public with all the trimmings. Archer’s mother takes her aside and proceeds to call her a slimy gold digger she didn’t know what Archer was doing with me. Jemma sees Archer’s ex coming out of the hotel with him. When he finally gets home she lets into him and tells him what she saw and how he smelled throwing the ring back at him. While she was in the middle of leaving men come into the house and arrested Archer for embezzlement.
A very romantic read. This read is an enjoyable happy ending book. The main characters are engaging. Jemma is a photographer shooting at a wedding when she meets Archer and she has no idea who he is. The pace picks up a little and the scenes get steamy and hot. I do wish they went a little more into bringing the reader in on the emotions. The book could have been expanded more to give some background on the other characters as well as extending the part where Archer tries to get Jemma back. Overall, I really liked the story. Its almost fairy-tail like and sweet with some sexy scenes.
I was given this e-book by the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. My conclusions are my own. I was not compensated in any way.
Received this complimentary arc copy from the author for an honest review. How can anyone give this a low rating!!! Definitely a 5* Meeting a hot guy at a wedding with the most fantastic eyes AND is interested in you only happens in fairy tales right??? Well that's what happens to Jemma and she can't believe it. Seems too good to be true. There has to be a catch, and there is. Marry him. What !!! Well Archer and Jemma get more than they bargained for with crazy plots, devious brother, evil mother, hot hot sex and so much more. A story that makes you laugh so much, so it has it all really. Fun, laughter, sex and a good plot. Loved it. Another winner Teagan.
Jemma Anderson is hired by an ex to take photos at his wedding when she meets Archer Talbot. When her car breaks down on the side of the road after leaving the wedding, Archer stops and gives her a ride home. Before she gets out of his car, Archer insists that Jemma meet him at his office the next afternoon. When Jemma walks into his office, the last thing she expected was a marriage proposal. Sizzling hot read that made me laugh at times. Fantastic book!
I received this ARC free from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Enjoyable story. Good characters and story line. I would of liked to have seen more romance, it all seemed a bit too quick for me. You hear nothing of the real wedding. I was expecting more from Archers mom and brother, maybe there will be a book two following on? I hope so. That said, i did enjoy the story, had me giggling in parts, and has a good twist to it. Was worth reading.
Whilst this may be now a common story line - billionaire hires a girl in financial difficulties to be a short term wife but they fall in live - the way that the characters are drawn makes this an enjoyable story.
I would be interested to read more by Teagan Kade and to me that is the mark of a good author.
