Mereka menyebutnya Bonnouji, kuil tempat menumpuknya berbagai pikiran duniawi.
I read a lot of manga, but I’m not reviewing them all, mostly just the really popular, terrible or wonderful ones. Because priorities, right? Anyway, I totally didn’t have high expectations for this Bonnouji, which is apparently also known as Worldly Desires Temple. Actually, I think I rarely start manga with high expectations, because there’s basically never any way of knowing what you’re going to get when you start one. Bonnouji has precisely the sort of story that I’ve been craving: one about people in their early twenties trying to figure life out.
Man, I really hope they make a jdrama of this. So Bonnouji is about people in there upper twenties. The heroine, Ozawa, has just been dumped by her boyfriend of five years, and is kind of at a loss. She expected that she would be getting married, but now she’s single for the first time in so long. Ozawa bumps into a guy in her building, Oyamada, and is fascinated by his weird room. The two develop a friendship and eventually a romance.
What I love is sort of how unromantic the romance is. Ozawa and Oyamada are both really weird, and that’s why they work. Being in love doesn’t change either of them. Oyamada doesn’t get a makeover to be cooler; he’ll probably always wear giant glasses that dominate his face. They strike up this friendship, in which they’re constantly playing weird games (not dirty – get your minds out of the gutter) and getting drunk. They love each other for who they really are, and I ship it. Actually, this is one of the rare instances where I totally believe a relationship where the couple doesn’t fight.
So Bonnouji is the name of Oyamada’s apartment. They think of it as a magical place, and it kind of is, because anything goes. When she first sees it, Oyamada has porn all over the place, along with a ton of random bric-a-brac. He tells her why, and it sounds like such a lie but it’s actually not. Oyamada’s older brother is traveling around and sends Oyamada strange and interesting things he finds on his journeys, including a whole lot of porn. Where most girls would have seen the room and gone running, Ozawa is amused and offers Oyamada her ex-boyfriend’s secret porn stash she found after the breakup. Of course, she’s also charmed by Oyamada’s collection of toys and alcohol.
The characters of Bonnouji spend a lot of time drunk. Considering that the drunken honesty scenes in kdramas are my favorite thing ever, is it any wonder that I loved this? Bonnouji has such a realistically quirky depiction of life and it’s just so cute. It’s pretty short, sadly, but it made me ship the sort of romance that I usually don’t, and I’m so touched by this adorable story.
Aside from the whimsical nature of the apartment and the gifts from the brother, it’s totally real life. The characters have jobs, which stress them out, thus the after work drinking. They’re incredibly strange, but it’s not like they’re not managing to function as real people. They’re living mature, adult lives during the day and being silly and awesome at night. Basically, this is the best adult life can be. :-p
Now to go see what else Eda Aki has written because I NEED IT.
Membaca Bonnouji sungguh membuat saya lupa waktu!
This was so cute man! It's about a 26 year old office lady who split from her bf of 5 years and befriends with a computer programmer. The two really get on well with no pointless drama involved. it's honestly a great change to see no stupid love triangle nonsense making an appearance because goddamn there's way too many of them out there! There's even no stupid misunderstandings involved either and reading the whole 35 chapters was relaxing enough to indulge, lads!
I think this manga would give anyone a nice boost if they feel their life is beyond hectic or if someone in their lives said something to disappoint them! Why can't we have a couple of Zenjis in the world man? Lol
Anyways if you need to read a feel good manga folks, this is one for u to check out!
jenis cerita kesukaan saya banget...cinlok dan jadi suka sama tetangga XD
dari dulu tiap nonton ftv/baca buku selalu semangat kalau ceritanya begini, pengen juga wqwq cerita pertama menarik banget, cowoknya unyu walaupun di gambar nggak keliatan ganteng (?) dan oh, untung bacanya nggak pas lagi patah hati, jadi pas bagian si cewek mencoba mengirim email ke mantan tapi ternyata dia ganti email biar gak di ganggu lagi, saya nggak nyesek2 banget.
There was only one thing that I found weird, and that was how the time went by. It feels like only weeks or months have gone by, but during the last chapters of this volume, she is talking about it being 2 years since the break-up with her boyfriend.... Which kind of ruined the manga for me, as for me it didn't feel that way. And it made me re-evaluate what I read, something I don't really like.
But, the characters are really fun. I loved how we saw from both perspectives how they thought about things. Oyamada was really funny and it was soooo cute to see him blush every time Ozawa popped in his apartment, and how he was stumbling around trying to make sense of his feelings. Which Ozawa didn't even know about her feelings (at least from what I could see) until a bit later. But these 2 are truly a match made in heaven. They are soooo adorable together.
I loved that Oyamada worked from home and apparently took care of the stuff his brother dumped at his place (and seriously, what is up with all the stuff. Sex dolls but also supernatural stuff? Or flags and wine?). I do wonder what htey are planning to do with all the stuff. I guess sell it, or do something with it later. At least I would hope, because I can see this go out of hand very fast.
Ozawa was a nice character, though I didn't like how she was drunk quite often. It felt just a bit off, I don't mind drinking, but yeah... this was just stupid. I also wish she could be a bit more assertive and say no to people. She often works long hours until almost midnight, and I wish she would just break free. This job isn't healthy for her, or anyone else.
We also have the brother of Oyamada and his friend Shimapon. I really liked them both, they were funny characters and I can't wait to see more of them.
The art was pretty decent, not always pretty, especially in regards to characters, but it was still good enough to be able to see stuff happening.
Considering what happened near the end, I will be sure to continue reading this manga. And I would also recommend this manga to all who are looking for a funny, fluffy manga.
This is such a refreshing Manga! I have not enjoyed an awkward slice of life romance like this in so long. Finally a romance that doesn't take place in a high school. Their awkward reactions to each other’s behavior are pure gold. It's going to be hard for the next two volumes to live up to this work of art.
good extremely easy to read manga there is no drama here as well so its very good to change the mood a little i think i like things like this i use it to restart my taste in books of the time . like if i read a hard drama i would not want to read most stuff after that but if i read this then i can go read anything again . mood restarter 7/10
( This manga reading challenge is taking over my books readings... help..me ) This manga is nothing more than a very refreshing and chill sweet romance story between an office lady and a programmer who works at home. His house is called 'Bounnouji' which translates to 'Temptation Temple', as it's so full of miscellaneous items sent to him by his brother. We follow these main characters as the romance between them develops with realistic and funny moments. A light read.
A simple sweet story about a girl who have just broken up and a guy (her neighbor) whom room has literally everything. She found solace in his room after spending with each other talking about everything. I really like how the story is in slow paced/ slow burn and so full of sweetness between those two.
I came across this book ... actually I'm not certain how, whether it was recommended somewhere or I stumbled across it on a manga site. In any event it is an enjoyable slice of life type story of two people who meet, starting seeing one another and form a romance. There is nothing particularly striking about the story, but it is an enjoyable one with flashes of humour along the way
Cukup menarik
Couple of goofy silly people doing goofy silly (and often drunken) things in a goofy silly room. I like this, it’s very understated but the dynamic between the two leads is quirky in a grounded and realistic way, makes for a fun little read! I’ll be seeing it through the other two volumes.
An okay romance comedy. I do appreciate they're adults and just low key everyday life but nothing made me laugh super loud, or feel an emotional connection, was just okay. Art is fine. Overall fine....
I liked this story a lot, but I guess the fact I trailed off reading it meant it didn't get 4 stars. Refreshing characters, dialogue and small stakes but interesting plot. Odd-couple story.
Ugggh, this is a very good manga!!! Saya sukaaaa banget!!!
Genrenya sendiri slice of life, romansa dan komedi.
Khusus buat Oyamada, duh aduh, dia tipe kesukaaan sayaa banget!!! Agak culun, super baik, super manis dan super sayang sama pacarnya. Waaaaa, saya mau Oyamada!!!
Ehem.
*Rereading for second time.
It's a great slice of life based around a chance connection between two adults in the same apartment building. One of whom happens to have a brother who sends entirely too many weird curios from around the world.
If you ask r/manga for a romance recommendation, there's a 99.9% chance that you'll see this title in at least two of the responses with a few more children replies attesting to its greatness. I'm not overly ecstatic over Bonnouji, but it's not bad either. It follows the development of romance between Oyamada and Ozawa, and that's all there is to it. There is nothing than can be called conflict between them. It's just so... chill and so natural. It doesn't have any drama at all, as in zit, nada! It feels so... weird, I'm not used to it! That said, it was kinda flat actually, but enjoyable at the same time.
