Daisy McDare is trying to get over a recent breakup, but it seems she can't even take her pup to the dog park without seeing her ex and his new girlfriend. When she is contacted by an old friend about redecorating a room in her home, she jumps on the project. Anything to get her mind off her love life...or lack thereof. The decorating job becomes an even bigger distraction when a member of the household is murdered. Daisy gets pulled into some amateur sleuthing to keep her friend from taking the fall for a murder she didn't commit.
This book is a cute start to a cozy mystery series, and a short, entertaining listen. I wanted something short and fun to listen to while putting away all our holiday/winter decorations....at just over 3 hours, this book was the perfect choice. This is a cozy mystery so the plot is simple and there is nothing graphic. No spurting blood. No sex. No cussing. Just a love lorn decorator ferreting out a murderer. Simple plot. A few cute moments. A fluffy dog. The usual cozy fare.
I enjoyed this story. I chuckled a few times and, while the ending wasn't a complete surprise, it worked. All in all, a fun listening experience. I will definitely listen to the rest of this series on audio. Perfect length. Fun story. Enjoyable characters.
This audio book was narrated by Caroline Shively. She has a nice voice and did a good job of voice acting. The narrator really does make or break the audio book experience for me, especially because I have partial hearing loss. I was easily able to hear, understand and enjoy Shively's performance.
There are 11 books so far in the Daisy McDare series. I'm definitely going to listen to the rest!

The first part was a light read. I felt really connected with Daisy. Any woman for sure can relate to the character of Daisy especially those who were dumped by their exes or those hoping to find their "The One".
Another thing I like in this read was the likeable characters like the baker-slash-matchmaker friend of Daisy, and there's the wise-cracking Granny Annie.
Then.... as Daisy entered the Longwell Estate to decorate for her old friend Kara, that's when the suspense and thrill started. Those heated arguments between the Longwells were so tense that I could imagine and feel the tensions and rage from each of them.
Then came the death of Luke which turned Daisy into a decorator-slash-detective to help her friend Kara. The suspects had all motives for the crime They were all suspicious, guilty-looking with kept secrets. The confrontations of Daisy and her suspects were tense and it was so hard to tell who among them really was the murderer which just adds to the excitement and thrill of this read.
I didn't expect the ending to be that way tho... I expected something bigger for the ending. I don't want to add spoiler so that's how I'm just gonna put it.... BUT.... the murderer? Well, I was surprised since i suspected almost all the characters at the Longwell's except him/her.
A story of a brokenheart, career, friendship, marriage, family, betrayal, greed, lust, and murder..... From light to suspense events, this was a good read for me. This is an easy read and would recommend this to anyone especially those who's into suspense/mystery genre.

I do like this series but a number of copy errors aggravated me in this selection. I also found it a bit short, and I couldn't tell you what, but it felt like something was missing.

Daisy McDare and the Deadly Art Affair is book one in the series by K.M. Morgan. This starts Daisy on her adventures solving mysteries.
Daisy has just broken up with her boyfriend and she ran into him at the dog park with his new girlfriend, Sunny Skye. To make matters worse, Sunny berated her for Brent’s being addicted to peanut butter pretzels. Then Brent berated her for talking to Sunny! She needs chocolate! At her friend’s shop, she finds that Samantha has set her up on a blind date. The day has just started, can it get any worse?
Daisy heads to Whistling Winds to redecorate a house for painter Luke Longwell. Daisy was recommended for this job by her friend since grade school, Kara Carruthers. Kara was also a model who modeled for many of Luke’s pictures. He did only pictures of women. Kara tells her that she is to redecorate only one room, the party room, otherwise known as the parlor. It is to be lively, modern, and fresh. Kara invites her for lunch at which Daisy meets Luke’s grown children, Bridget and Eric. They are living off their Dad and his money. He calls them on it at lunch and tells them he is cutting them off and out of his will. Tension is running high in the Longwell home.
When Daisy arrives the next morning, it is to learn that Luke has been murdered. Her friend Kara is the chief suspect. Daisy has to help find the killer to prove her friend is innocent. The main suspects are: Kara; Bridget who is getting her funds cut off; Eric who is getting his funds cut off and is given an ultimatum about his girlfriend; Sasha Sanderson, the girlfriend who is dating Eric only for his money and whose mother was fired for stealing; Anna Antonelli, the maid who is having an affair with Luke; Matthew Madsen the gardener who flirts with Kara; and Quinn, the ex-wife who received nothing in the divorce due to a pre-nuptial agreement. All have the opportunity and a motive. Which one is it?

This is a fun addition to this series. The main cast of characters are back and at their quirky best. The victim is obvious, since he is such a jerk. The reader sees what's coming and has the suspects all lined up. The fun part is following along with Daisy as she tries to find the killer. The only downside for me is the cheesy bumbling detective, but I still recommend this for fans cozy mysteries.

Both the author K.M.Morgan and and narrator Caroline Shively were new to me and I have no idea why that is. This was an entertaining story which is a cosy mystery and one that I was able to dive into.
Daisy is an interior designer who happens upon a murder at her latest design job. There are a few twists, turns and surprises in Daisy McDare and The Deadly Art Affair as Daisy and her band of friends follow the clues.
The narrator did a credible job voicing the characters. This was a a book filled with secrets and lies, intrigue and suspense which kept me guessing as I listened to this story.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. This is more of a novella than a full novel. The mystery plot has good potential but I found the characters quite shallow. The main character, Daisy whined thru out the book about not having a man in her life and drowned her sorrows in cupcakes and chocolate. Nutritious food is never mentioned. Additionally the description of the book states Daisy solves the murder after the local police aren't getting anywhere. In fact Daisy starts investigating almost immediately after finding out about the murder. I feel a good editor good help this book to be much better. For instance how does Daisy know people's names before being introduced? I found these little details to be very distracting. Hopefully the next in the series gains from experience.

Fun and simple mystery
I chose four stars because this story was entertaining, even though I was able to figure out the end halfway through the book. The plot was easy to follow without getting tangled up in the side stories. If considering reading this book, I say, good ahead, it won't disappoint!

Quirky decorator detective
Very cute story about an interior decorator who has some serious sleuthing skills. When asked to redecorate for an out of touch childhood friend Daisy finds herself in a hostile, gravy train, soap opera household. After her friends artist husband ends up dead the question is who didn't want him dead? Good quick read.

I read this out of order. Started with the second book. So thought I should go back and see where it started. I love this character and her friends. She is always falling into some kind of trouble. Really an enjoyable story. Moving on to the third book next.

I loved this cozy mystery! Received free for honest review. It was fun following Daisy with her friends at the Sweet Tooth and all the suspects. Characters were well described. Felt as though I was right there with them. Definitely recommend to others.

I think I'm just not a cozy mystery kind of person as I've now read a few, and just don't get it. In this one, I mostly just didn't care for the heroine, and her snippiness when people wouldn't answer her questions --umm, you aren't the police! And why did she know everything about everyone before she met them? Or had she met them and just didn't tell us? And why would you confront the murder rather than, I don't know, tell the actual cops??

I received this book in exchange for an honest review! Daisy McDare is an interior decorator who has been hired to decorate for her former friend, Kara. Kara is now married to a famous artist and living in the lap of luxury, though she doesn't seem happy. When Kara's husband is murdered, everyone is a suspect, including Daisy! This leads her to do her own questioning in order to find the killer.
This book was more of a novella than a full length story. The chapters were extremely short. The mystery and solution were fairly creative and made sense, though difficult to guess. Daisy was a fairly likeable character with a heart for helping her former friend. I liked that all the characters had possible motives for wanting the victim dead and the complicated subplots that were weaved into the story.
I do think the writing style needs improvement. It wasn't very engaging and was repetitive. For example, there was a paragraph that had two sentences starting the exact same way and the chapters often ended with Daisy talking about what food she wanted to eat. Having characters obsess over certain foods seems to be a new "thing" in chick lit, but it can get annoying. Daisy herself, though likeable, was a little bit of a flat character without much of a background story given.
Overall, the mystery and secondary characters were enjoyable. As the author continues to write, I'm sure her writing style will improve and become more engaging to the reader. 3/5 stars.

Daisy McDare loves to shop and enjoys rearranging her own apartment.
When she becomes a professional interior decorator, an old friend, Karam who has married wealth,
asks Daisy to redo a room in her mansion.
Daisy walks into a household torn apart by tension and selfishness.
Eccentric and ill-tempered do not begin to describe Kara's reclusive artist husband.
Daisy is shocked to show up for her second day on the job to find the man has been murdered.
Her loyal nature, paired with insatiable curiosity, drive Daisy into investigating on her own to solve the case.
It seems each member of the family, plus staff, had motive: inheritance, infidelity, blackmail, jealousy
and various forms of deceit.
Along with the murder, Daisy's BFF Samantha, who owns the Sweet Tooth bakery, which Daisy visits daily,
has an objective of her own: to find a boyfriend for Daisy.
The best thing to come from the planned blind date is a clue to solve the mystery.
After the case is wrapped up, Samantha and her Granny make delicious puns.
Some fun and enjoyable characters that I know we will see as this series progresses.

Cozy mysteries are always a fun change for me to listen to. KM Morgan writes another engaging murder mystery for Daisy McDare to solve. Daisy has a decorating job at a local artist’s home. When she arrives to start, she finds him dead in his backyard studio. Not only is her job put on hold, but she is now in search of the culprit who killed him. With a quirky array of suspects, we get to meet and help figure the answers! Daisy has her good friend Samantha helping her out, and there is no shortage of sweets! Brought to life by Caroline Shively, the story is an afternoon of entertainment.

This is the second book I read by this author. I found a light relaxing read. I will read the next book in the series. I found Daisy as the protagonist an interesting character and her personality shows. She loves art, her dog, chocolate and is very curious. The writing flow smoothly and areas described seem real. The supporting characters could be better developed.

I chose a two due to the scrambled story. The beginning really didn't have a lot to do with the plot, was too long, and the story itself was a little dull. It went from scene to scene but didn't really expand on anything. It started several romantic possibilities that didn't pan out, just a so-so story.

Really enjoyable short story, likeable characters, dislikeable characters, well told. At first I found the mixed metaphors and errors in grammar distracting, but in a way, they became part of the attraction of the story. I'm looking forward to the next book.

Daisy McDare-interior Decorator LOVES what she does! She also LOVES Chocolate and any kind of pastry. Luckily for her her best friend's grandmother owns a pastry shop--well her best friend now owns it--but Granny is there every day! So is Daisy---everything is going wrong in her love life--her ex dropped her for someone else--big problem--how will she ever be able to let her dog run in the park anymore--this of course calls for more pastries and chocolate!
She got a call from an old friend who married money--big money--and was hired to re do one of the rooms in the mega mansion. Daisy is in heaven--until she realizes that her friend may have money but is really not very happy. Her adult step kids hate her (and they live in the house)-her husband is kind of distant--he is an artist--then the unthinkable happens--the husband is murdered.
Her friend convinces Daisy to try and figure out who did it while still redecorating that one room---lots of chocolate and pastries later she does get to the bottom of it (before the police)--
