Some spoilers

"Holy moly," Chelsea breathed, no longer appearing like she was about to laugh. "I want one. I want a George. Are there more like him in the mountains? Because we can close the store, fly to Colorado, and go George-shopping, only for me this time."-Chelsea

OMG I LOVED THIS BOOK! Gone Too Deep, the 3rd book in the Search and Rescue series was amazing! I don't even know were to start on all the awesome things about this book. While this book was easy to read as a standalone Katie Ruggle created such an exciting world that I am not done living it. So I will be going right to Amazon after I finish this review, buying all the other books in this series and starting from the beginning. And although I loved this book so much that I'm sure I will really enjoy the others as well, I doubt any of the other heroes will hold a candle to George.

George, George, George God but that man was a wet dream! George was this super tall, yummy, bearded, all alpha, non-talking, grunting, sexy mountain man. I spent the entire time I was reading this book swooning, awing, and yelling out "God he's so damn sexy". I loved every single thing about George there was nothing I would have changed. Nothing. He was perfect. Oh and he was a virgin. Never been kissed, never nothing. There was such a sweet and sexy innocent vulnerability to him that was so appealing and in no way took away from his manly alphaness(is that a word???). George is for sure being added to the top of my book boyfriend list.

Ellie was very sweet. She had a playfulness that was cute and goofy. I loved that she was smart. I hate stupid heroines that put themselves in danger, but Ellie was anything but. She had common sense but was still vulnerable and needed George. I also loved how loyal she was to her father. She didn't just dismiss him as crazy even though he had a metal illness. She loved and fought to help her father. It was too funny the way Ellie would interpret George's grunts and looks. She really got him and around her he was able to just be himself.

He grunted, and Ellie chose to interpret that as "Good morning, Ellie. Isn't it a lovely day?"-Ellie

Ellie and George's relationship was sweet and had an intensity that had me hanging on to every grunt and half smile. But them being together felt natural, like they were meant to be. Ellie only had eyes for George and he only had eyes for her. Experiencing all George's first with Ellie was beautiful. I was like a huge sap melting as he kissed and made love for the first time. His embarrassment, nervousness, growing confidence, and then smug satisfaction was damn sexy. I enjoyed watching George and Ellie fall in love. I enjoyed every single grunt, word, smile, and laugh that Ellie pulled out of George. It was cute the way George would pick her up all the time and carry her around like a little rag doll. I loved Lou, and Callum and Ellie's friend Chelsea. I also really liked Ellie's dad. My heart melted at Ellie at her father's relationship and his metal issues. I loved all the action and that ending. OMG that ending........ I was jumping up and down yelling OMG no way. Talk about a freakin "drive me crazy" cliffhanger. Thank God the cliffhanger was just about the plot and not the couple or I might have lost it, but now I have to wait to find out what happens next. While I wait I'm going back and reading the other books in this series. I would recommend this book to all my friends that love a little action with their love story, and sexy, alpha mountain men that only have eyes for one woman!

Ah, I am loving this series. If you are after a new romantic suspense series, this is it.

I love the heroines this author writes. And I love her stories. And it is no different here. I have been intrigued by George since book 1. Quiet, taciturn, grumpy men are among my favourite types of heroes. I adored George. And the slow build up of the relationship. Watching as George falls in love. Brilliant.

The suspense part of the story here is an story arc from the first book in the series, and as such, I doubt would work as a stand alone. But apart from book 0.5 I have loved the books in this series.

Yes, I found the addition of a never before mentioned character, who turns out to be a major dickhead, even though he is the head of the Search And Rescue (and as such, seriously, how was he never mentioned before) a bit perplexing. But overall, it did not detract from my enjoyment of the story.

And I adored Lou ( from Hold Your Breath (Search and Rescue, #1) by Katie Ruggle )great as a secondary character.

And there is some sort of progress in the Series arc suspense plot. And it actually really surprised me. And kind of gutted me. But seriously Katie Ruggle!? Why, just why (although it kind of makes creepy sense, I read back all over this characters "appearances")

Cannot wait for the next book in the series.

But seriously....

I think I will finish with my favourite bit.

"So tell me how it happened?" Lou leaned closer to Ellie................

"When I last saw you two together he'd barely agreed to guide you. Next thing I know , he's sitting in The Coffee Spot for hours, scowling at me like I killed his kitten......I was about to ask Callum to see if he could do some man grunt translating for me when George Holloway actually spoke to me. In words..........."what's her number?"

.............................

"So I pulled up your number on my phone and gave it to him. He's getting up to leave when I tell him sit his taciturn rump down, because a phone number is pretty much useless when he doesn't have a phone, and he pulls out this prepaid one that's still in its packaging. I start imagining how the conversation will go, where he calls you, and you answer, and he's silent except for some breathing and a few grunts, and you think you have some creeper on the line, hang up on him, and he crushes the phone in his huge, heartbroken hand and never leaves his cabin again"

This book is awesome! George is one of the best heroes ever!!! Ellie is a great heroine too! There is a suspense storyline too which is well written. I prefer more romance and less suspense, but I still loved it! The couple gets their HEA, but I wanted more. The suspense wasn't wrapped up so I hope to see more Ellie and George in future books!

Gone Too Deep is the third exciting installment in the Search and Rescue series. The murder mystery presented in book one is still unfolding, with the dangers intensifying! George and Ellie’s sweet romance added in made for a wonderful balance of romance, suspense and mystery! I’m loving the series a little more with each book released!

This installment centers on George Holloway, a Search and Rescue member, guide, and tracker, and Ellie Price a Chicago city girl, in search of her mentally unstable father who went missing.

Ellie Price receives a troubling phone call from her estranged father that sends her straight to Simpson Colorado in order to find and help him. Searching for her father in the vast wilderness of the Colorado Rockies is well beyond her experience, so she hires George to help track him. Backpacking through the wilderness can be perilous enough without danger following them in, but they’re determined to find Ellie’s father and survive.

George is the quiet and taciturn Search and Rescue team member who proved very useful in the last book! He’s the perfect example of a large mountain man, made even more intimidating, because he hardly ever talks or smiles. The reason behind his quiet disposition was kind of surprising and sweet, IMO. George and Ellie’s romance felt like it developed gradually, because of the hours/days they spent together hiking. The situation forced close quarters, and a reliance that built trust and an intense connection quickly. Even though Ellie was a city girl and George was country boy, I felt they matched quite well as far as relationships go. They both were pretty tentative and not very experienced in the ways of love so it was lovely watching them fall for each other.

There’s something about survival-type stories that always grab my attention. Maybe it’s the inherent danger that I find thrilling, I’m not sure, but I loved the whole backpacking plot! While reading, I was happily reminded of several trips I’ve taken, and understood the amount of work it takes to survive without modern conveniences. From obtaining clean water for drinking and cooking to making sure your food is not a bear attraction, there’s a lot to do, but the untouched beauty you see and experience is well worth the effort. Of course, I didn’t have crazed men following me at the time! At least I don’t think I did… *shudders*

I have to say my jaw dropped at the concluding revelation! I can’t wait to read the next book and find out what happens! I’m still stunned, and I wonder if Katie Ruggle planned this from the beginning or the idea came to her as she wrote the series? Whatever the case, consider me bowled over! I love it when a mystery shocks me!

This whole series is worth a read, if you haven't already checked them out. I love the author's style of writing and the way she builds on her characters. There is something so wholesome and charming about this close knit group of friends that pulls me in every time. The inside look into the search and rescue is also something I found myself completely captivated by. Gone Too Deep has humor, first love romance and the action and suspense is kicked up a notch.

Ellie is searching for her father after getting a disturbing phone call from him about bad people coming after him. With a history of mental illness, Ellie fears that his episodes are getting worse and being on a mountain in the winter could end badly for him.

Being a city girl, Ellie doesn't know the first thing about hiking and the cabin where her father is headed is a three day journey on foot. Lucky for her, she meets Lou, who recommends the gentle giant that is George, as her guide. When George meets Ellie it's pretty much love at first sight for him. I loved this hero so much! I loved that he was a genuine mountain man, I loved that he was a man of few words (actions speaking louder than words was practically his life motto), I loved how he treated Ellie and how he was committed to taking care of her and keeping her safe, no matter what. He was a real life gentleman and he charmed me right along side Ellie.

This is another spectacular book in the series and I love being able to see the ongoing mystery play out. The author drops little hints and nuggets of information along the way and definitely kept me guessing. The only gripe I had with this was Ellie's WFT moment towards the end regarding Joseph.

Full disclosure here (aka ranting!), I'm being biased since I love Chris and didn't like that his relationship is still strained between George and Ellie in the last book. Supposedly both George and Ellie hold Chris responsible for Ellie getting ambushed at the cabin. I don't agree with their attitude and felt that Chris deserved less of the blame here. Yes, he messed up by taking the call when he should have been keeping an eye on Ellie but what was up with Ellie blindly trusting Joseph? This is the same guy who snuck into her room, almost sexually assaulted her and was always giving her bad vibes. Yet somehow, this guy that every one in town has at one time or another voiced warnings about, somehow, he warrants more trust and a second chance from her? Come on! Just because the guy is part of the search and rescue does not mean he isn't a skivvy jerk! When he shows up, I hate to admit it but Ellie has a TSTL moment by opting to trust this dirt bag. In my opinion, she messed up just as bad, if not worse, than Chris, by choosing to overlook the glaring warning signs about Joseph.

That right there kept me from completely loving Ellie. I liked her, she was a good character and she was perfect for George, but it rubbed me the wrong way that they both would still acted so reserved and never really addressed the issue with Chris. It just felt unresolved and reading the scene didn't really clarify or justify their attitude.

That being said, it was still a great read. George was really my favorite part of this :)

Memorable Moments:
Because George couldn't get any better right? The dude can play the guitar like a pro *swoons*

Also loved seeing Ian & Rory and Lou & Cal again (even if it was just a little bit here and there), and of course, Chris *sigh* missed Daisy, which might explain why I have the urge to re-read In Safe Hands again, Lol!

Would I recommend?
100% YES!

The story begins with Ellie, who gets a weird phone call from her father, who says he might be in trouble because someone is after him.
Ellie, who is worried after the phone call, decides to fly from Chicago to meet her father in Colorado.

Arriving in Colorado, Ellie is more worried because she still can't find her father, so she decides to go find her father with the help of a quiet big mountain man, George Holloway.
Ellie and George begin their journey, but little they know, the people who are after her father might after them too.

I quite enjoyed this. I enjoyed the hiking part of the story, but I feel the story is a little bit draggy towards the end.
Also, I don't feel so much of the mystery, for me to know who is the bad guy.
I found the ending quite underwhelming. There is a cliffhanger but it left me unsatisfied.
The killer is just abruptly mentioned at the end like, umm okay??

But nevertheless I enjoyed it.

George Holloway is a reclusive young man living off the grid, who doesn't have much to say when he is with the other Search and Rescue team on their missions. Everyone does listen when he finally does have something to say. Ellie Price is living in Chicago when out of the blue she receives a call from her father Baxter. He has had a problem with living in the real world for years and his rambling call upsets her enough to take time off from her job and go to Colorado to find him. When Ellie arrives she is not prepared for the elements and try's to walk into a coffee shop finally falling on her behind and is picked up and carried to the door by George. As Ellie try's to find someone to help her find her father and grandfathers cabin, Lou and Callum think that George is the best person to help her. The cabin where she thinks that he is in, is deep into the mountains. Having no experience with this kind of hiking, cold and the elements, she goes to the town's only clothing store for help. One thing that most people always pack in an emergency pack, would be duct tape. (Not part of the listed items that the writer included.) For me that is a strange lapse. The basic story is very good. The writer's scenes of being pursued by fanitical militia crazies is very in depth, with lots of drama.

I'm not gonna say this is the best book I've ever read...but it came real fucking close.

Grumpy/sunshine, check.
Male virgin, check.
The grump barely speaks? Uh, check. Why is that so hot? I don't know.
Killers on their trail? Cool. Check.
THERE'S ONLY ONE SLEEPING BAG? Check, check, check.

UGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH.

My only regret is that I can read this for the first time but once.

I really enjoyed this book, especially the gruff and bearded mountain man George Holloway. I loved how big he was, and how he didn’t speak much, except with Ellie.

Ellie was very sweet, and so loyal with how she searched for her father, willing to hike through the dangerous Colorado Rockies to find him.

Their romance was so damn sweet, I just loved these two together, and how protective George was over Ellie.

The suspense and action was really great, with trying to find out whether her father was telling the truth about people trying to kill him, and exactly who the real bad guys were.

This was my first book by this author, and the plot and characters were great. Although I haven’t read the previous two books in this series, I never really felt lost while reading this book. The real killer still haven’t been found, so I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.

One demure city girl is ill-prepared for the mission she is determined to undertake to rescue her mentally disturbed father who is positive someone is out to kill him. In a remote Rocky Mountain town, Ellie sticks out like a sore thumb as she attempts to find a guide willing to take her into the snow covered wilderness. Only one man can do it, a silent giant of a man who rarely uses his words to get his point across. George is a true mountain man, a loner, a gentle soul in the body of a Goliath who is none too happy to take Ellie, but without him, she will surely die within six steps into the woods.

Two people as different as night and day, will face the deadly cold, deadly killers and the flames of hell together only to find the only common ground they need, love.

Katie Ruggle’s Gone Too Deep stars two completely adorable characters with hearts as big as the Rockies. The gregarious and feisty Ellie and the big teddy bear, George will leave smiles on your face and a sigh in your heart, while the evil they must live through will have you grinding your teeth. And Ellie’s Dad? Guess you’ll need to read it to find out what happened to him!

Gone Too Deep is yet another book that everyone seems to love but me. In all fairness to the author this is book 3 and while I wasn't lost there is a mystery that I guess is on going. I think the story had lots of potential. George was super sweet but that's all I got from this book. I felt like I never got to know him because he rarely spoke. I didn't like Ellie at all, I found her very annoying through out the book. I understand that this romance is slow burn but IMO its really was nonexistent. The romance was very childish for me with all the damn blushing that was going on. While I prefer my romances to be the center of the story or the suspense be the center I didn't feel either was done well in this book so for me it didn't work. I don't think I would be interested in another book by this author.

If you enjoy suspense that keeps you guessing then this series is a must read. Add in the romance angle that pulls the stories together and it's easy to see why this author is gaining popularity, although I'm sure the hunks on her covers please many an eye!
This series vividly paints a picture of small town life in the often inhospitable Colorado Rocky mountains but it's the question of just who murdered the poor soul whose body was discovered in book one that titilates this readers interest but frankly the death seemed more like an execution! So I along with others whilst enjoying the romantic aspects keep a watchful eye out for clues.
Yes each book features a different couple so as a reader I thinking boy meets girl but this time it's more mountain picks up woman , literally! George has been a character quietly hugging the side lines but this time this taciturn seemingly grumpy male steps forward and it's about time if you ask me. If honest I wanted a tiny bit more about his background but can't fault the author on the delicious build up to the relationship.
Ellie is without a doubt the polar opposite of gorgeous George. A city girl through and through and yet so full of gumption if a little lacking in practical knowledge . She is determined to find her father but doesn't think it through and arrives woefully unprepared but that's when the fun really begins. Persuading George to guide her proves surprisingly easy but their hike through rough terrain is anything but. I loved the adventure and how well it was described but best of all the interactions between our couple as Ellie interprets Georges way of grunting just had me smiling. In fact the whole opening up of George as Ellie both charmed and impressed him was truly a beautiful thing.
Now it is a suspense so there's always going to be danger and it is found in the most unexpected places. We know there's a killer on the loose but the ending just left me thinking how could it end like that? Whilst not the usual cliffhanger as there's a huge reveal there's not really an explanation , sigh. A sweet romance with captivating scenes of action and adventure as those mountains are brutal! Yes I'm hooked and so looking forward to the next book it's not real!

girl i guess………….

you know what, i really loved the concept of this book for the first 100-150 pages, because i think the (research-buoyed) survivalist circumstances surrounding the main couple were genuinely unique and a ton of fun to read. loved the forced proximity, the danger, the wilderness expertise the mmc got to display. after that, the book really lost me. my fault for jumping into the middle of a loosely connected series. the killer/criminal subplots were so out there, it felt a bit like watching serialized crime television, and the eventual get-together between the main couple was so mindnumbingly lackluster (after so much delicious, survival-fraught tension!) that i had to really race through the second half of this. 2.6/5.

also WHAT THE FUCK was that weirdly unresolved subplot with the search and rescue guy who broke into the fmc's hotel and tried to sexually assault her????????? HUHHHH

"Holy moly," Chelsea breathed, no longer appearing like she was about to laugh. "I want one. I want a George. Are there more like him in the mountains? Because we can close the store, fly to Colorado, and go George-shopping, only for me this time."- Gone to Deep

Favorite Hero ever! GONE TOO DEEP is the third audio in the Search and Rescue romantic suspense series set in Colorado by Katie Ruggle. In GONE TOO DEEP Geroge Halloway, an expert survivalists agrees to guide Ellie Price into the Colorado Rockies. It will take three days to reach her family's cabin where her mentally unstable father is hiding. Filled with suspense and a slow burning, adorkable romance, I dare you not to fall in love with George.

Ellie receives a phone call from her estranged father who is frantic and convinced someone is trying to kill him. Picking apart his conversation, she realizes he is at their family cabin n Colorado and leaves Chicago to find her Dad. I liked Ellie from the onset, she was smart, determined and funny. Any woman who sees whining as a weakness is welcome to be my friend. Chin up and all that. She arrives in Simpson, CO a small mountain town where all of our books are set and stops at the coffee shop. Dressed as a Chicagoan she immediately falls in the parking lot and is picked up, literally off her feet by George who carries her into the cafe and leaves. Hells yes, I am all in.

Ellie ends up befriending a few characters from previous books who aid her and ultimately have George taking her on the three-day hike up to the cabin. George doesn't speak, in fact, he kind of grunts. I wasn't sure how I would handle a man like George..but oh gods I want one. (sorry hubs) I absolutely loved their interaction and the slow building romance that develops. Elie is this outgoing, confident and sometimes awkward character who gets George. I melted, laughed until I saw tears and swooned over this sensitive, shy, intelligent man.

While the romance was enough to keep me listening and happy, we had the added bonus of a suspenseful mystery concerning Ellie's Dad and a couple of dark villains. Ruggle picked up on the previous suspense thread left opened in FAN THE FLAMES and gave our hero and heroine quite the adventure. I loved how this seamlessly tied into the overall series and while the romance wrapped up and left me happy, the suspense thread had me yelling out loud and begging for the next audio. The twists and turns not to mention the need for more answers despite getting more tidbits have left me pushing the next audio to the front of my TBR pile.

GONE TOO DEEP is my favorite installment of the Search and Rescue series to date. I loved George!

Won't be reading the rest of this series. It wasn't bad so much as SLOW... like molasses slow... like 3 legged turtle slow... like slug moving in 100 degrees across a concrete sidewalk slow!!

I like George a lot. a 31 year old mountain man virgin... Go figure. The heroine was... meh. She seemed kinda stupid not being more forceful about her interactions with Joseph - not reporting him after he LET HIMSELF INTO HER HOTEL ROOM when he's a complete stranger and cornering her in the bathroom when she told him endless times to LEAVE! Rapist, anyone??? And she never said a word...

She redeemed herself by defending herself and George pretty well throughout the novel when push came to shove, but I just never really warmed to her.

And the intrigue and murders and danger?? Also meh.

So will not be reading more by this author.

Every once in a while I come across a series that frustrates me and the Search and Rescue series continues to do that to me but for some reason I can't stop from reading this books. This is a series I highly recommend reading in order due to the fact the story is an ongoing one and continues through each book but it looks like end might be coming up!

For a little back in book one Lou finds a deceased male who is headless while she is training. They are unable to identify the man and who actually committed this crime. During the first two it's a lot of ground work on uncovering who this man was and the number of suspects grows. Now each book also has a romance that blooms and other danger that may or may not have anything to do with the dead guy.

In Gone too Deep we finally know who he is and why he was killed but the killer(s) are still unknown. The romance in this book revolves around George who works for search and rescue and is damn good at his job and Ellie who is from the big city who comes into town to find her father who has a mental illness. These two are as different as night and day yet they form some kind of connection that leads to them falling hard for one another.

George is hot and built like a lumberjack but the issue I had with him is that the man hardly speaks! George had very limited dialogue during the story which really didn't help me get to know him or understand why Ellie liked him. The grunts and facial expressions just didn't work for me. What I did like about George is that he's a virgin and finally gets his first kiss that sends him falling for Ellie and hard. That moment was actually my favorite in this read.

Ellie definitely brought personality to the story. She bright, determined and really did have a good heart. Ellie is set to find her father and in the process of trying to locate him her and George run into some danger but don't worry it has everything to do with the dead guy who was found in book one.

Towards the end it seems like this story is finally and I mean finally getting ready to give me the answers on who did it and the outlook is surprising! Each book ends in a cliffhanger which can be a good or bad thing depending how into those you are. All I know now is that I'm ready to have this murder wrapped up so maybe I could enjoy the romance portion a little more. In Safe Hands is the next book in the series and what surprised me on the blurb is no hero is named! So whose book is it? Is this the ending? Who will be killer? These are questions I need answered so I'm looking forward to finally getting my hand on that one.

If you like mysteries and suspense with hint of romance you won't want to miss any books in the search and rescue series!

Thank you to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca and Ms. Ruggle for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really did like that Ellie came to her father's rescue and really cared about this man who had mostly been absent in her life. She truly seemed to understand that his situation and mental status were not altogether his fault and that he needed help. From this perspective she made a brave and courageous heroine. Of course, she didn't know going in that her mountain guide didn't talk and that they were facing two brothers (meth dealers) who were sent to kill her father. The details involved in trekking through the wilderness were very well done, although, I myself would have preferred a little more depth on the plot than the trek.

This book gave you a few more pieces to the puzzle of the ARC that crosses all the books but didn't really provide much depth to the ARC. I did like the main plot of this book with the men who were after Ellie's father. We had seen Ellie's father in the prior books as someone who was hiding from people who were out to get him, but as in this story he really seemed like he was a bit touched. It was a surprise for the rest of the characters to learn, that yes, there really were men out to get him. There were some really good scenes during the attempt to save her father and going up against the men who were trying to kill her father. George's attraction to and protective nature of Ellie was really sweet and I think readers are going to like their relationship.

Some women are going to fall head over heels for George. And although my favorite male hero is the strong silent type, there were points where I felt George seemed more like a mute giant than a taciturn hero. I think Ms. Ruggle overdid his mute status. To compensate for his lack of talking you have Ellie that has a tendency to ramble.

In addition to the lack of verbal communication between the H/h, the dialogue between Ellie and her boss seemed a little over the top. And then you also have the ramblings of a slightly crazy father. So for me, this book did suffer a little with lack of good dialogue which is something I enjoy reading.

I love Colorado so the setting for these books is a favorite of mine. I also like SAR aspect of these stories. I really can't wait until Katie gets the next book out.

Let's talk about what made this a five star read for me -

a) Natural story progression - I've read about these characters and this murder for three books now. Yes, there are different characters - but the world is fully built. I'm ensconced in the snowy mountains - at the coffee shop - at the BBQ joint. These are my people.

b) I had a suspicion about the killer and it was confirmed. So smugness = stars.

c) George. Oh George. 5 stars = one for each word George said during this book. What can I say? I am a fan of the strong, silent type. At work I talk and talk and talk and talk. And I'm surrounded by the other lawyers talking and arguing and being smooth. Mine is a world where so little gets visibly DONE. There's nothing sexier to me than a man capable with his hands - calm, steady, building things, protecting. At least twice I had to stop and fan myself from the hotness that was George - not because he did anything swoony but because he did accomplished something outdoorsy with no fanfare. And then when I read his feelings for Ellie...BOOM. Add his inexperience and I'm truly fortunate my home didn't catch fire.

"It worried him how much he liked taking care of her, feeding her and doctoring her feet and making her tea. It gave him ideas he shouldn't be considering, like keeping her."

Summary - read the series. Just...read the series. On to book 4 and some loose ends and some vengeance and the take down of a bad bad man!

Check out -

Ellie gets a desperate call from her father, who is known to have mental issues. He is going into hiding because someone is trying to kill him. Thinking her father is once again delusional, Ellie drops everything, heads to the Rocky Mountains and tries to find someone who will bring her into the wilderness to find her father at his family’s hunting cabin.

The person up for the job is George, an expert but maybe the most unusual on the Search and Rescue team. You could call him silent George, he rarely talks and keeps to himself. Pretty much the opposite to Ellie.

There is a chemistry between George and Ellie and the thicker things get the deeper that attraction grows.

Her father is truly being hunted and when Ellie goes into the mountains with George the killers start hunting them as well.

Great story, heart felt emotion, with Ruggle masterfully pulling together total opposites in a completely believable relationship. She does that by building a relationship of mutual admiration into friendship then love.

I received this ARC copy of Gone Too Deep from SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication August 2, 2016.

This is, without doubt, my favorite book in this series thus far!!!

In the previous installments, we were introduced to George Holloway, the one and only, rugged human Grisly Bear, that doesn't speak and uses more grunts and facial gestures to communicate that you start rolling your own eyes at him. He is by far the most experienced mountaineer in the Search and Rescue crew, so when Ellie Price shows up needing help, he was volunteered by Lou (still lovin' this girl).

Ellie needs help because guess who her father is? Yep, none other than Baxter Price who's name has been on the infamous whiteboard that Cal and Lou started a few books back. Anywho...Ellie gets a phone call from her dad stating that he's basically being hunted and is going to her Grandpa's cabin to be safe. The catch? Baxter is extremely mental and she's worried about him hiking in the snow by himself in his mental state, whether someone's out to get him or not.

Once George agrees to be Ellie's guide and they set out to find Baxter, we have a front and center seat while we watch these two fall for each other. The dangers that lay in the woods multiple exponentially when they become prey themselves (No, I will not elaborate on this. You'll just have to read this). But here's the best part of this book, once they find Baxter and are "rescued", the story isn't over. Nope. There's more. So much more that it was almost like it was back to the beginning of the book. Or a book within the book. Sigh....Gosh this was awesome. And GEORGE!!!!! OMG!!! How is it possible??? I think Ellie handled THAT situation with ease. WTG girlfriend. Yep, I'm talking in code because there is NO WAY I'm giving up THAT information!!!

And the ending!!! That ENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew it. I knew it had to of been someone like him. The plot thickens and I'm dying to get my hands on the next one!!!

*I received this book from the Jeep Diva in exchange for my honest opinion.

Lots going on. Heroine was not TSTL - thank god!!!! Hero was a bit too silent and broody for me but I liked George. It was light on steam and passion. Really wish there was more. It was just an it too heavy on the suspense side of romantic suspense.

We have arrived at book three in the Search & Rescue series. And it didn't come soon enough after that startling cliffie in the last book (and it happened again in this one. I'm sensing a pattern, LOL).

With each book the ongoing murder suspense and arson plot ratchets up with each new clue found and reveal. There are some obvious suspects and those who hold the answers are either dying or on the run. Each book has focused on a different facet of the Search and Rescue group (ice rescue, fire rescue, and now wilderness rescue) which makes for a fascinating backdrop and a nice change-up to look forward to in each book. I've enjoyed getting to know the quirky inhabitants of Simpson, Colorado and, particularly, the group of men and women who make up the SAR team. George Holloway, a tracker and survival expert, was introduced in the last book and I was all sorts of curious to get to know this silent (and by silent I mean nearly mute) giant of a man and the woman who would be his romance interest.

This is indeed a series that must be read in order as each book builds on the last particularly when it comes to the suspense aspect even though there is a different romance pairing for each new installment.

The story opens with Ellie Price far away in Chicago getting a call from her mentally ill father about dangerous people after him and trying to kill him because he knows something and that he's headed to her grandfather's cabin to hide. He just wanted to talk to her and take comfort before he goes on the run for his life. Ellie is not particularly worried about his claims of being hunted after all this sort of paranoia has been part of his illness all along. It was the reason at age eleven her mom stopped letting her go for visits to see her dad when he had an episode and it turned into a hostage situation when he barricaded him and her in her grandfather's cabin and the police surrounded them. No, that didn't worry her, it was the idea that he was headed off into the mountain wilderness alone while it was barely spring.

Ellie settled things with her boss and friend before going to Simpson, CO to find her dad and bring him back safely. Ellie was so focused on her dad that she minimized the actual rescue part until she got to the mountain town and saw what she was up against. There are no roads that go anywhere near the cabin and it's a three-day hike through snow and cold, the environment, possible avalanche, and more to get there. She can't go alone. Her early encounter with Lou and Callum lead her to approaching the silent intimidating giant on the Search & Rescue team to guide her in. George Holloway may be intimidating, but his co-worker on the team who freely offers to help her is just plain creepy. He looks like he's going to say no until she is accosted by the sleazy Joseph.

George agrees and begins the trek that will take city girl into the wilds. Ellie realizes quickly enough that her life is in George's capable hands and she has to some how dig deep and keep going as the hike through the snow, encounters with wild animals, weather, and a dangerous pair of criminals makes for an intense hike. Slowly, she gets comfortable with George and startles herself when she finds him deeply attractive even if he says little. And George seems to relax around her, too. He is patient and caring and he slowly opens up to speak a few words here and there.

But getting to her dad is only half the battle. The killers on their tail can't be driven off and they plan to take care of all the pesky witnesses, but then her dad confirms that this pair are being led by someone else far more dangerous before he is gone again. George and Ellie have grown close and want to be together, but someone else worries what her dad knows and a vengeful rogue killer is still out there.

Oh yes, this one didn't skimp on the action and excitement. I was tickled that things are starting to come to a head with the suspense plot. It didn't wrap up in this book, but it definitely advanced things so that I'm pretty sure the next book will have the big reveal with all the whys and wherefores. And ugh, this one ended on a cliffie that will have me more than ready for the next release.

But backing up to the immediate story. George and Ellie are quite the pair. This goes beyond opposites attract. George is a survival expert who lives simply in the cabin he shared with his dad without a phone, a TV, or many things most people think they can't live without. He works with metal and some seasonal jobs like plowing the streets and also volunteers as a tracker and survival expert for the SAR team, but he keeps to himself ignoring people and never speaking. Then there is Ellie- colorful, perky, city girl Ellie who falls on her butt the first time she gets out of her little economy car that threatens to get stuck in the snow at any moment. No coat and no winter shoes. No idea about camping let alone a winter trek in the wilderness. Her dad has no one else to go looking, but no matter about his delusions, she loves him and has his back. She needs George and actually, in his own way, George needs her, too.

I enjoyed the time of George and Ellie out in the wilderness. The details of their hike and living rough were engaging and interesting without tipping into tedious. There is humor and danger mixed in and also the slow developing relationship. It was so sweet to learn that Ellie gave George his first kiss and this big strong guy was a virgin though there was definitely some passion smoldering under the surface that Ellie helped find release.

My only niggle and it's minor, is that I felt the backstory on both characters was hurting. Knowing them in the here and now and how they grew as people and grew together is solid, but their pasts are only sketched in at best. Why was George the way he was? I was curious.

All in all, this was another solid installment in the series for me. I just peeked ahead and saw the next book is Chris and Daisy's book. Yeah, I've liked Chris all the way through. Those who enjoy romantic suspense and want a unique setting like a Search and Rescue team in a small mountain town should definitely give these a go.

My thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

*start of my rant* I would like to inform this author that all women from the big city are not stupid, dippy, silly, weak little girls. Just so you know we know how to camp, we know how to hike, we know to check our urine for our health’s sake. We know how to listen to experts, how to solve problems, and above all we know to speak up when a man gives us the heebie-jeebies and we’re damn sure going to make sure everybody knows about it. There seems to be a distinct difference between Country girls and City Girls in her novels in both of her series. *end of rant*
-George was a real mountain man, fun.
-Great usage of past characters.
-The mystery was exciting and the chase was well paced.
-I felt very connected to her father. He was well written without a lot of backstory.
-The continuing arc is still captivating.
- Thumbs up. More please.

I really enjoyed this one and didn’t want to put it down. It was fast paced and the suspense part of it kept me engaged. I also love the reclusive but very competent MMC, George, who Ellie hires to help guide her through a 3-day hike in the snow to her father’s remote cabin. Something about the MMC knowing what to do and taking care of the FMC just are usually my favorite stories. The aspect that kept this from being a 5-star read was that I don’t think it did a great job with the mental health representation for Ellie’s father; it wasn’t terrible, I just feel like it could have been done better and felt very stereotype driven. I also couldn’t really get into the plot point of Ellie dropping her entire life to go on a wild goose chase finding her estranged father who she hasn’t spoken to in what seemed like over a decade. That was the primary purpose for the whole story and while minor, I just wish that aspect of it was stronger as it was again the excuse used to drive her back to the small town after returning home to Chicago. Ellie was also just an okay FMC as she came across a bit ditzy to me. Still a very entertaining book that I definitely enjoyed and gets 4 stars from me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another great read.

George Holloway works for Search and Rescue but he isnt really close to anyone. Many think him a loner, a mute, as he doesnt talk much, if at all. That is until Ellie Price comes into his life. Her father, with mental issues, called her and has her willing to hike alone to find her father and a hunting cabin her grandfather owned.

While the two trudge step by step in snowy, icy, freezing conditions a bond develops, then a respect, then a connection. But her father is a person of interest to unsavory characters and they will threaten not only their budding connection but also their lives.

Again another great journey with a strong female lead, a strong silent male and a cast of secondary characters who add to the story.
