(Déception is the second installment of a multi part series).
The first book in this series got off to a rather slow start, but about a-quarter of the,way in began to get good....This second book in the series takes up immediately where the first one left off, so there is no rehashing the plot. This is an intelligent plot and interesting story written in a politically sensitive time period for France and the U.S.. The romance is sweet and sensual and I find myself rooting for the young couple Sero and Nicole. I would definitely recommend this series. I am now beginning the third book in this series...can't wait to see what is going to happen.
The story us good but it is entirely too long. There are so many stories going on in the book, a reader can loose sight of who the story is actually about. I can honestly say I do not know if I will read the last part. After reading this, I am going to go back to not reading books written either in a series or parts.
Just a wonderful part of our past as displayed in this novel as well as the first in series. I devoured it. Couldn't put it down. Can't wait for rest to follow.
I look forward to the next book of this French historical series! ( the end notes are particularly helpful in understanding terminology used in the book!)
