New Book Boo Alert!

O-M-G…I had the privilege of reading an advanced copy of The Dancer, and I.am.in.love. For fans of the Ballerina Series, you will remember Dante Hammond. He was the jerkoff bestie and dance partner of Ivy. I didn’t find Dante very likable because he was clearly trying to push up on Ivy when she firmly friend-zoned him, then he just plain showed his ass at times once she solidified her relationship with ultimate bae Maze Chang. Who else was like “Boy bye…”? Well now…things have changed, and as I stated earlier, I.am.in.love. With Dante Hammond. Let this be a lesson to all book lovers: Never judge a character when you only see one side of them without getting to know them. I kind of think this was the motivation for this story in a way because I was not feeling Dante at all in the first 2 Ballerina books.

Our story picks up after Maze ends, but prior to the epilogue of that story with everyone preparing for Maze and Ivy’s destination wedding. Dante is as sexy and smoldering as Maze. I think if Ivy hadn’t friend-zoned him, Maze would have some serious competition. Dante is a male dancer (Do NOT call him a ballerina FFS!), and he singlehandedly destroys any and every stereotype that a male dancer (of any genre) cannot be heterosexual or masculine. Dante is uber-assertive and possesses tons of swag, and as perfect as Dante is physically and outwardly, he is not without issues. He has a troubling past that manifests itself through a series of violent nightmares.

Enter Kali Devereux, the heroine of this story. She has quickly become one of my favorite characters. She is the quintessential alternative, carefree black girl, and I am so here for it! We outchea!!! Kali is a badass guitar player with tats and piercings (hello!) who was raised by two dads of different races(so different and refreshing, yet not uncommon.) The chemistry between Dante and Kali is off the charts and immediate. I loved that Kali acted on her sexual desires toward Dante without hesitation or regret in the sense that she feared being labeled slutty or loose (It’s 2015, get yo freak on!) But don’t get it twisted, this was not a story of a series of bumps and grinds. Dante and Kali actually took the time to get to know one another and allowed the relationship to progress naturally.

Now, if you’ve read the first two books (Not required before reading this one, but still highly recommended since there is character crossover and they’re just damn good stories), you know that these aren’t just lovey-dovey tales without some major drama. I’ll leave you with two words: Camping trip.

So I think it goes without saying that I loved this story. Never once did I feel that it lagged or dragged at any point. The scenes were intense where needed and light-hearted when warranted. Ursula Sinclair delivers on this one, and she is one of the queens of the new adult genre. Great story. I definitely wouldn’t mind another Dankal book in the future. Click it up!

This is book 3 in the series and its Dante and Kali's story.

At first I thought that perhaps this was just going to be an erotic read of how Dante and Kali got together and the chemistry between them. Well boy was I wrong, this story has some twists and turns that will blow your mind and have you on the edge of your seat. Then when you relax and believe that all is well Christy comes along with her drama. I thought it was too good to be true that Dante managed to escape her clutches without getting clawed.

I loved when Dante did not let Kali run when away when the drama started with Christy but held on to her and let her know they could face it together. I loved that he showed he was vulnerable and needed her.

Then the final shock revealed at the end and will become book 4 just had my jaw hanging open.

Great story telling by this author as usual. I would highly recommend this story.

** I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review **

I was really excited to get a copy of this book. Professional male ballet dancer? Professional female rocker? YES PLEASE.

This was the first book I've read by this author and I liked it enough to go back and read the first 2 to get background information on some of the key people in the series.

I really liked that both of the main characters were outside of the "norm" in their chosen professions. It was brave and smart of the author to go outside of the box on that because there are just too many make rockers, billionaires, bikers, underground fighters. I also really loved that the heroine wasn't the virginal america's sweetheart. She was a tough rock chick who stood up for herself and what she wanted. Character development on both Dante and Kali was very strong.

This story was oddly paced for me though. At first, it was insta-lust, then onto insta-love and then it stalled and dragged a bit but then it went back to insta-love to wrap things up. For all intents and purposes, they spent a weekend together, a month apart and then reunited and were professing their love. It was all very quick.

Also, the diversity was nice but it was so much diversity that it was almost overkill. I really liked that the author is strong enough to not revert to having racial differences be the cause of strife for this couple. I actually loved that the author surprised me by not going there at all. BUT it was almost too much to have gay parents AND biracial parents AND one of them from The Islands AND the baby adopted from said island.

Overall, I liked the story. It had definite issues for me but none that were so serious that I won't go back and read the others in the series.

Dante makes the moves as Kali sets the pace, lovely story.

3.75 stars. There are several elements in the love story of Dante Hammond and Kali Devereaux that made it an enjoyable read: they meet at the wedding of the protagonist of the first two books in this series; their immediate attraction to each other despite the 'cox blocking' attempt of her friend and of his former sex pal. This story also has crime and the irony of Dante and Kali having an earlier incident that impacted their families. They also shared and interest in the arts, Dante loved dance and Kali loved playing guitar.

I have been waiting for this story and was not disappointed at all. IMO this is the best of the series. We catch up with Maze and Ivy with just enough and not overtake Dante's story. The chemistry between Dante and Kali was off the chains there was some suspense added to the story which made it more enjoyable. There was one love scene of many when I had to check my drawers, LAWD. Can't wait to continue with the journey as I await Vin's story. Bravo

The story of Dante and Kali.
Their is violence in this story so beware.
So we met Dante in books 1 and 2. of Ivy and Maze's story. You will see snippets of them in this story but this is not their story. This is about Dante. Dante's life is crazy busy. From dancing and hiking and sleeping around. He has a little bit of everything going on. He meets Kali who is completely opposite of him. She travels the world with her band. She is a guitarist. Together they are perfect kind of. They have issues. But they somehow know each other a little bit from the past. Which Dante's past is messed up. You will read the story and love it just like the first two.
I must say I love this author. She tells stories amazingly. I highly recommend these stories. You will also hear about Ivy and Maze in this book. Since they are BFFS. Its just a really great series. With really great characters.

There was a lot of insta-lust in this story. Dante and Kali meet at Ivy and Maze's wedding when Kali shows up as Vin's guest. Kali keeps Dante at arms length when they are near and then while she is working with other bands. When they finally meet up again, Dante takes her on a camping trip. It was full of mishaps and danger, as the final third of the books moves quickly. It's a hea.

REVIEW: 3.5 stars--THE DANCER is the third installment in Ursula Sinclair’s contemporary The Ballerina new adult, romance series. This is principle male dancer Dante Hammond, and guitarist Kali Devereaux’s storyline. Dante (Ivy’s best friend) was first introduced in book one-The Ballerina and the Fighter-and has had a continuous role throughout the series. Although THE DANCER is the third installment in the series it can be read as a stand alone. Any important information from previous storylines is revealed where necessary.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Dante and Kali) THE DANCER focuses on the upcoming beach nuptials of Ivy and Maze, and the introduction of Kali Devereaux to Dante Hammond. Kali had been invited to Ivy and Maze’s wedding as Vin’s (Maze’s best friend) plus one but the sparks flew between Dante and Kali from the very start. What started off as a one night stand soon developed into something more. When Kali’s latest music tour takes her to Europe for one month neither she nor Dante have any contact with one another leaving each to wonder how the other is doing. Upon her return to the USA, Dante and Kali pick up where they had left off, including a weekend hiking trip into the mountains where everything goes from great to bad in a matter of hours.

The relationship between Kali and Dante is one of immediate attraction. The sexual tension is palpable and our couple is quick to act on their attraction and need. The $ex scenes are intimate and seductive.

The secondary and supporting characters include Ivy and Shel’s (book one) parents, as well as Maze’s friend Vin whose story will be told next in CHOOSE ME. We are also introduced to several female dancers (Christy and Stella) whose attraction to Dante leaves little to the imagination. Christy tries to force her way into Dante’s life only to discover that life as she knows it is about to change.

Like in the previous two installments there are some issues of grammar, spelling errors and missing words which could have been easily caught by a proof-reader or beta read. I also don’t understand how in this day and age of social media, texting and emails how two people have no contact with one another for weeks, months and years at a time (Ivy and Maze) but Ursula’s leading couples have some difficulty in the communication department.

THE DANCER is an enjoyable storyline about another interracial couple. The characters are animated and charismatic; the romance impassioned and intense; the happily ever after not unexpected. Dante has finally found the one to complete his dance card both in and out of the bedroom.

Unfortunately, after writing this up twice, my internet kept crashing and lost my total review. Here's my third try!

Fans of the Ballerina Series will be happy to see Dante's story in The Dancer, he's just been Ivy's best friend and now you get to see into his past and who he really is. Dante is going to Ivy and Maze's wedding, he's had a crush on Ivy since the moment he met her, but he supports their love and wants to be there for them. He's tagging along with Vin, Maze's best friend. Vin's brought a date with him, Kali, and Dante can't stop looking at her. Kali is a bad-ass, beautiful rockstar and Dante wants her in his life. After being apart for several months, Kali returns to New York from her European tour and they decide to give their relationship a shot. However, there's hurdles to face with their pasts and a weekend trip that just doesn't go as planned.

I was really glad to get Dante's story after reading The Ballerina series. I heard about The Dancer first and was drawn to it, but felt pretty disheartened about who Dante was. The Dancer showed a side of Dante the reader never saw, because he was always just the best friend. He's got a past that affects his daily life and he's far more than just a dancer. Plus, it was really nice to see another side of Dante in the relationship field. He was so caught up in Ivy that I kind of assumed he'd never find someone to live up to that. The relationship between Dante and Kali is one of insta-love, they're wrapped up in each other from the moment they catch each other's eye. However, their relationship grows slowly once they come together. The sexual tension is high, the lust is evident, but they talk like a couple should, face problems together, and support one another. I felt they had a strong relationship by the end of the book and I was happy to see Dante happy.

Similar to The Ballerina series, some of the hurdles that jump in the way of Kali and Dante are excessive. I liked the addition of the suspense moment, it was right for Ursula Sinclair's writing, but the situation with Christy just made me annoyed. It's a fast moving back and some of the situation really hindered the relationship story. Overall, I was happy with The Dancer, it was better than The Ballerina series for me, and it is easily a standalone novel.

Dante and Kali...Dance and Music...Collision that nobody saw coming.

Dante is a male dancer in the Ballet world and he is at the pinnacle of his career. He is in high demand everywhere, people just want to see him and be seen by him, they clamor to him like moth to a flame. Dante is not interested, he's lonely and deep down he want what his best friend and fellow Ballerina has, a love of her own whom she is about to marry and become a mommy. As Dante, Vin and his date for the wedding fly down to meet up with Mazy, Ivy, family and friends, Dante can't help feeling that hole in his chest until he sees Vin's friend and date for the wedding.

Kali is a female bass guitarist in a male dominated world, she is a Black woman on top of the music game and in high demand. Kali agrees to attend the wedding of Vin's friend with him as his date, Kali knows what Vin has been hinting at but she is dragging her feet about it and besides she doesn't have time for a relationship. Her music is important to her and she travels extensively on tours, she is not about to give all of that up for someone who doesn't even make a spirit sing. Kali walks up to meet Vin and see's him talking to a tall gorgeous man, her heart skids to a stop and her spirit is singing.

Dante and Kali embark on what started out as a weekend fling at Dante's best friend wedding but once they reconnect back in New York. Dante pulls out all of the stops to make Kali his and Kali want to become his one and only. Through their twists and turns, Dante and Kali find their love of a lifetime with each other. All because once Dante spotted her, he was determined to never let her go. But a snag from Dante's past comes up and the question is, is their love enough to get them through it?

It was great seeing Maze and Ivy, who in this book got married, their other friend Vin is in this book and he is supposed to get his own story called, "Choose Me (The Ballerina, #4)" which hopefully will come out this year. I really like how author Ursula Sinclair made Kali's parents be two dads and Vin's character is bisexual. Author Sinclair wasn't afraid to write these topics in her story and she did an excellent job.

Well Until My Next Review...Ciao Bellas!

This book can be read as stand-alone, but more enjoyable to read The Ballerina & The Fighter (Book 1) & Maze (Book 2) of The Ballerina Series first.

If you've read Book 1 & 2 of this series, you've already met Dante. Ivy's dance partner, friend & roommate. Ivy thought Dante was gay when she first met him and then bi-sexual from his female guests that slept over, but turns out Dante had Ivy snowed! I have to admit I was surprised to find out that Nate pretended to be bi-sexual so that she would live with him. He is very straight and into women! (Did not see that coming!)
Everyone has a past, including Dante, that torments him in nightmares from a childhood experience.

In route to an event for friends out of town, Dante ends up on same plane as Maze's friend, Vin. Vin has invited his friend Kali as his +1, and tells Dante he's hoping to further their relationship to another level. Dante cannot keep his eyes on Kali from the moment he sees her.

Kali is a female guitarist in high demand, currently with a few days off between concerts with bands, she off to Miami with family friend, Vin. She did not expect Dante and his persistence to spend time with her. She doesn't have time for a significant other and has stayed away from musicians she works with like the plague, not wanting to mix business & pleasure.

Find out what happens, when Kali finally gives in the Dante's advances and they have one hot, wild passionate night together and Dante wakes up the next morning alone.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Although I did read the other two books before this one, I think that you could read this as a standalone; however, I think that you miss a lot of the details and interactions between characters if you do not read the other two books first. That being said, the author did a good job of paraphrasing some of the events and details from the first two books so that you do not feel lost if you have not read the previous books, but does not give so much away that you feel you are rereading passages if you have read the first two.

The very beginning of the book hooked me into the story and made me want to know about the event. I like how this part of the story progressed and how the discoveries the reader uncovers along the way show growth for Dante’s character. I like how the author portrays Dante’s fear and how she describes where it came from and how he has continued to fight through his fears. The story line allowed the plot to flow and I really liked the twists that the author incorporated.

Unfortunately, I did not think that the twist at the end added much to the story. I felt like it was included in the book in order to introduce the next book. I also had some timeline issues with this part of the story, which may be solved in the next book. In addition, I felt that some events or facts were explained almost too much because they were mentioned at different times throughout the book while other events or facts were alluded to, but not explained much at all.

After reading two books focused on Maze and Ivy's story, we finally get to see a new side of Dante!! I personally loved Dante from the very first book. He was a really great friend to Ivy and was always there for her. He may have wanted to take that friendship to the next level, but I'm sure glad that that never happened!!! In The Dancer this is Dante's story, but we get to see our lovely original couple, Ivy and Maze, through a good portion of the story. Dante is a part of Ivy and Maze's wedding as a groomsmen and that's when he meets his girl, Kali. Kali is a female guitarist and a great one at that, so she knows that developing and keeping relationships are difficult if you travel a lot. Dante is a master at the quick and easy relationships, but when he meets Kali his whole perspective is changed. He doesn't just want one night, he wants every night. These two are a great couple and they had more than their fair share of action. If you are a fan of the Ballerina series, I recommend giving this book a try!!

I liked this book, because it started out like a innocent love, but then it grew bigger and better. And knowing that there would be a sequel, wonderful!!

Characters
Dante: I wasn’t attracted to him in any way in the first books, but I think Ursula did this really well, to change our mind about him.
Kali; was awesome, not the girl that would fit with Dante, but I liked her very much!

Storyline
This story was so different from the other books, there was much happening from different sides of the story. I liked that it was this diverse. I think that the evolution of Dante was very clever, we actually didn’t know anything about him. The hiking, the murder, they’re all things that you should keep in mind if you’re doubting about reading this book.

Title
I think it fit well with the two previous books, I’m happy that it wasn’t his first name.

Cover
It was a bit old fashioned, but I still liked it. I think it didn’t actually fit with the vibe the book gave me, but it wasn’t bad.

Ending
Not spouling ;)

I'm giving this book 4 stars!

While attending the wedding of his best friend and the girl he secretly pined after for years, Dante Hammond finds himself instantly attracted to Kali Devereaux. Unfortunatley for Dante. Kali arrived on the arms of the groom's best friend, Vin. But giving up easily already cost him one girl, so Dante decides to go for what he wants. Dante and Kali's hookup leads to insta-love and a relationship that is filled with plenty of twists, turns and surprises.

Barring a few grammatical errors and misspelled words, I think this is the best book in this series. We really get to know Dante and Kali, as well as a few other characters who will be in the next book. Dante and Kali are charismatic and I enjoyed their witty banter. My only problem with this book was the quickie ending but the Dancer is an all-around enjoyable read.

Meet Dante and Kali….they are both top in their respective professions, and are also unique in their individual situations. He is a male ballet dancer in a female dominated profession, and she is a top guitarist in a male dominated one. They were both looking for something more in their lives, and then they find each other. It’s one thing to be good at what you do in your professional life, it’s even harder to find that “someone special” in your personal life. They compliment each other so perfectly, and both were made whole again. Their relationship was sweet and steamy. I adored this book….even though it can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend you read the entire Ballerina Series!!!! You will be taken on a wonderful journey.

Awesome Read!

I really enjoyed this book! Maze is a white MMA fighter and Ivy is a black Ballerina. To know their story, you have to read The Ballerina and the fighter 1&2! Two awesome books! And I so loved the ending for Ivy and Maze in this book. However, this book is more about Ivy's dance partner, Dante, who is white, and a Rock n Roll, guitar playing black chick named Kali. Ursula Sinclair knows how to write a sex scene, because the heat that was going on between Dante and Kali made you can yourself. I think this is a great read and others will love it like I do. This is a book that I will recommend to others. Great job! Can't wait for your next. Book in the series.

I totally love this book it made me laugh a lot with that final birthday gift, pretty singular by the way. I really like the way the two main characters had that sparkle like even when you were reading you could feel it. But what I really like most was the drama they went trough I was like "Get the fuck outta here" I know you will get it as soon as you read it lol, but I would have like to read more about them, I think it was too short but that's okay. This is the first book of the serie that I've read but I'm looking forward to read about the first two book because I've got this feeling that I'm going to like them.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

1st - I received this book in return for my review. 2nd - this was the best book in the series - my opinion. I really enjoyed the characters, settings, tone and speed the story moves at. I am glad I read the other 2 before this as there are a lot of characters that show up again and I dont think I would have liked it as much without the back stories.

Loved It

Now I gotta say, I can't wait ok t for Vin's story. I would r like to see a really different spin on his. I don't want to see him with his "baby's momma" . And even though I'm not into a really graphic gay story , I'd love to see Vin raise his baby with a deserving person

Really lovely story

A beautifully written story, with well developed characters, I loved that Kali was West Indian, and was a rock guitarist, I found that such a good twist and Dante just makes you swoon because of his honesty and ownership of his feelings for Kali. A really lovely read.

I'm going to keep my eye out for it. Now that I've started the series I want to see how it ends. Vin & Kali got together but did it last? Did they get married ?
