A detailed, caring step-by-step guide to training the passage red-tail hawk. Oakes is thorough and direct in his explanations. He also does a brilliant job expressing the true heart of falconry--the love for the birds, the absolute addiction and obsession witht the flight and the hunt. A great guide for sponsors as well as apprentices!

This is a comprehensive apprentice falconry book.

The book is arranged in a logical, clear, and concise manner that makes it ideal to learn from and study. The importance the author places on prioritizing the birds needs over a human's comfort is paramount to understanding falconry. This is an essential book for any falconry apprentice or anyone interested in learning about falconry done correctly with integrity, respect, and appreciation of Red Tail Hawks.

Solid foundation

Good introduction to falconry and in particular to keeping red tails. Not exhaustive but lays a good and realistic foundation.

For anyone considering Falconry you must read this book! It's quite short, but packed with useful information without bogging you down with to much detail.
