Going against her best judgment, Sophie joins forces with the distracting sexy detective on the police investigation and in pursuit of a killer. As they move closer to solving the murder, a series of missteps shoves Sophie right into Jackson's arms and straight into the media. Trouble is everywhere. Jackson's career begins to crumble and Sophie becomes a suspect in the heinous crime. The case unravels. The past and present collide. Sophie is swept into more danger than she could ever imagine when the Old Leather Man comes looking for her hide to tan.

When you hear the words, “no trouble at all,” do you ever wonder if that is always true? Lisa Acerbo has written a romantic suspense titled No Trouble At All that is anything but no trouble for Sophie Carter, jogger, history buff and now unprofessional detective.

It all started with a jog in the park, the flies, all those flies and then, the body, the very dead body. There is something familiar about this killer’s method and it leads Sophie down a path of past legends, past murders and a mysterious killer known as the Old Leather Man. He is the best suspect; unfortunately, he died over one hundred years ago. Has he been resurrected or has he become a victim of identity theft as someone attempts to imitate his crimes?

Enter Detective Jackson Lynch, who uses Sophie’s involvement as a witness to track down a killer with information from the past. Our Sophie is not immune to the charms of Jackson and apparently he returns the sentiment, but can business and pleasure mix when their business is death and their relationship is far from appropriate? The worst thing that could happen is to be caught by the flashbulbs of the press…from that first click of the camera their lives take a downward spiral and their credibility is in doubt as Sophie somehow becomes the new prime suspect. The only one not after her is The Leather Man, or is he? Will she become his next victim? How does he know her every move? Is Sophie about to become the victim of a monster and a broken heart?

Lisa Acerbo has put a special spin on this romantic suspense tale. There is humor, missteps and two completely entertaining main characters, the sometimes uptight, sometimes hot and sexy detective and Sophie, outspoken, independent and in way over her head. Ms. Acerbo has added even twists and turns, hidden clues to bring out the detective in all of us. She keeps the romance hot, fanning the flames between her main characters and then dousing it all with misunderstanding, ego and fear.

A sometimes dark suspense with bouts of humor, a quirky character here and there and just enough romance to spice it up just right Ms. Acerbo has balanced good versus evil just right! Great attention to details, free use of artistic license and voila…wonderful reading from start to finish, but oh, those flies…

I received this copy from Lisa Acerbo in exchange for my honest review.

Ghost from the past, murder, heightening tension and a romantic possibility—everything comes together in No Trouble At All. Surely, all of that sounds like trouble. It is a nightmarish situation for Sophie when she finds a dead body in the woods and realizes that the murderer is probably a leather clad vagabond who is something of a legend in the locality. Her interest in local history results in her knowing a little too much about this terrorizing leather-clad demon. She gets involved in the investigation and plays along because she is attracted by the ‘distracting sexy detective’ in charge of this case. Her presence opens a can of worms and she nearly becomes a suspect. Wondering how things turn out for Sophie? Well, grab a copy! It’s definitely worth it.

My reading list always has all kinds of creepy and suspenseful books. But when it comes to clubbing together so much variety, this one takes the cake! No Trouble At All, though broadly categorized as a romantic suspense, has suspense, horror, history, humor, romance, and well, you name it. I was entertained throughout. While some parts in the story will give you chills, some will make you smile. It will hold your attention pretty easily and you’ll be left with a sense of satisfaction when you finally put it down. Lisa Acerbo has done a great job! This makes for an awesome and memorable read! You have to check it out if you’re a suspense fan!

When I began I was wary of where this was going at first. The story of the leather man was interesting but until you got into the book how it linked wasn’t known. After the legend was told the book took off like a rocket ship. You have danger, murder, mystery and romance. You have intrigue as to why the murderer went by the Leather Man and how all the murders and mayhem were connected.

What made the book for me was the characters. Especially Jackson Lynch. That is one awesome detective. He is sweet and kind but also serious and protective. He has the murder land in his lap and he doggedly chases the clues. All the while he falls for the witness Sophie. This relationship is odd in many ways but works. She helps him find out information but also they work together in other ways. He calms her down and shows her that love isn’t a bad thing. They do have a rough patch when the job of solving a murder gets in the way of their budding romance but soon that moment is just a blip in the radar.

Sophie is the most unlucky person I have seen in books. She finds a body, likes the detective but wait now she is engrossed in the mystery and in danger. Meanwhile she is trying to navigate her relationship with Jackson and keep true to herself and not get killed. She also has her mother to contend with.

The plot is fast paced and character and plot driven. The romance is character driven but what is happening around them affects them as well. The mystery is plot driven and the evil mastermind is driven by characters in the story but also the plot of his own. The writing flows nicely and the characters keep you in the now of the book.

A mystery that slowly ties together and has you on your toes while the romance builds and gives you a warm and fuzzy feeling. These two make a great pair and I look forward to more of their adventures together.

Romance, intrigue, local history, corporate secrets... this book has all of that, and more. No Trouble At All details the story of a man who has identified with a Connecticut legend: The Old Leatherman. The man kills and arranges the body of a young woman in a cave once used by the Leatherman for shelter. Sophie Carter, out for a run to explore the Old Leatherman's cave, discovers the body and her very tightly woven world begins to unravel.

I really identified with the character of Sophie. I've been in relationships that have ended badly and which have left me unwilling to take another chance at love. Sophie has just come out of such a relationship when she meets the detective in charge of the "Leatherman Murder". I also really enjoyed the exploration of the legend and would love to read this author's more fully explored version of the tale. As a frequent reader of mysteries, I also appreciated the reveal not being someone whom you couldn't later go back and see that there were clues there the whole time.

There were a few typographical errors in the book, but not enough to completely detract from my enjoyment of the story. There are sex scenes but they are not frequent, nor are they terribly explicit, so mature readers 17+ would likely enjoy the novel. I look forward to another outing with this author very soon.

No trouble at all by Acerbo.
This story is full of trouble, even dangerous and life threatening. The main protagonist, Sophie, finds the body of a young girl while checking out the historical Leather Man cave.
This is the start of her troubles plus the beginning of a relationship with a forensic detective on the case, Jackson Lynch.
Because a past relationship ended badly, Sophie has trouble accepting Jackson's ministrations. And things deteriorate when he asks for time-out after they were sprung by the press, having a weekend away together. Sophie is devastated and goes into melt-down. Her best friend, Anna, comes to the rescue.
Events transpire, like a break-in to her place, and she has to contact Lynch. Their relationship improves but they are no nearer to finding the murderer. Then they figure it out and nearly end up being murdered themselves.
Plenty of drama and conflict but easy to read.

No Trouble At All is wrought with suspense and action. It combines local history with a modern twist in a fun and fast-paced story. It is a true thriller with quirky characters and a plot line that will keep you enthralled. Lisa Acerbo does a great job developing her characters and entertaining the reader with her charismatic and quirky writing style. This is a well-researched novel, with great accounts of Greenwich, CT and the Old Leatherman folk tale. No Trouble At All is a great book that I would recommend to any reader.

Won this book from Goodreads in exchange for an honest review. This book is a good light read for anyone that likes mystery and romance. The pace of this was pretty good except for the romance. It was quite rushed, but in it's own way still realistic. Two people who believe they're so attracted to one another and trying to find out why. To me it was mostly based on appearance and sexual desire between the two. They were mostly attracted to one another, but I felt that their romance wasn't all that real. I believe in their sexual attraction, but I don't think they were really fascinated with each other like the author wants us to believe. It was just way too rushed for me to believe it. I get the story was short, but they could have even gotten together more towards the end. The story itself was mysterious, but it had a typical urban legend feel. Usually the stories of murders make you want to know what happened and for this one I didn't really care. Maybe it was because I felt like the people involved didn't really care. Whenever they discussed the murder it was always just seen as an opportunity to be together. The romance felt more like the main focus than the murder itself. Nothing wrong with that, but if you are going to put something like that in the story it needs to have a good amount of attention. On their own the characters were more focused on finding out what happened which I liked. But again it seemed like they didn't care about the murder itself just more so of the hope of seeing one another again. Also these are adults and their romance felt like it was two teenagers falling in love by how reckless they were about it. But I did finish it and the ending itself was pretty good. Everything got solved and Jackson saved Sophia so it was a great way to prove his love and hey maybe I'm wrong and their romance will last. But I don't find it likely. But the ending did catch my attention more than any part of the book. It was suspenseful and unexpected.

Sometimes you come across a book that has a plot so awesome you wish you wrote it yourself. No Trouble At All is that kind of book. Sophie Carter’s today starts off as usual until she runs into a dead body in the woods. The suspected murderer is Old Leather Man, a mysterious killer who was never caught, whose last homicide dated back to the nineteenth century and who should be long dead. Did someone resurrect him from the dead, or is a copycat at work?

In comes Detective Jackson Lynch, one of the greatest love interests I’ve read about in quite a while. He asks Sophie for help in solving the murder and how it’s connected to the legend of Old Leather Man. Sophie falls head over heels for the sexy detective (and who can blame her? I certainly can’t).

I loved the serch for Old Leather Man, and how the characters struggle to keep fact from fiction. This killer is reminiscent of Jack the Ripper: elusive, never been caught, the stuff of legend. And while that’s creepy, it also added an extra layer to the book. The romance was sizzling, and both characters had a lot of chemistry. I read this in one sitting and loved it. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys a solid thriller with lots of romance.

NO TROUBLE AT ALL is a fun mystery laced with plenty of romance. When Sophie discovers the body of a murdered woman hidden inside the Old Leather Man cave, her peaceful solitary life turns upside down. Not only is Detective Jackson Lynch too handsome to resist, she feels drawn to help solve the murder. Her knowledge of local legends and the Old Leather Man prove valuable to Jackson, yet the attraction between them gets Sophie into more trouble than she has ever known. One moment she is laughing and smiling at Jackson, the next her face is broadcast all over the news, putting both his job and the case in jeopardy.

The legends from the past come to get revenge and Sophie's own life is in danger. The twists will keep you reading. Sophie and Jackson might be up to their necks in trouble, but neither can deny it might be worth it, in the end.

I was drawn to this by the interesting outline. There is a good story here, but unfortunately the author has buried the murder mystery in weak romance while failing to address *how* the murder was solved. Not to mention revealing the killer at the halfway mark, which removed any further mystery.
The quality of the writing is average, with enough minor bloopers to be irritating. Characterization is uneven: good in places, but characters sometimes behave in irrational ways. Yes, people do that, but there should be some cause for it. Jackson is a standard contemporary romance hero, pretty with an air of tough, but he's really dumb. Sophie is more interesting, but very frustrating at times.
The pace was good, and some suspense remained in the details of the outcome. The ending will satisfy many, with every single little loose end neatly tied up.

I received a free copy of this book for an honest and objective review through a non-reciprocal review programme.

I am quite happy with this book. 'No trouble at all' had everything a good mystery book should have; murder, drama, thrill, anticipation and of course the suspense. It kept me hooked in till the end and if it weren't for the fact that I've been reading quite a few books at the same time, I would've finished it way earlier. As for the romance, I was absolutely in love with the chemistry between Jackson and Sophia.
