A suspicious death at the Koenig Estate has everyone talking. Stormy Day was there when it happened, and she alone holds the key to solving the mystery. With a little help from her friends, including those on the police force, everyone's favorite small-town sleuth, Stormy Day, won't stop until justice is served. The town might even need to name a new beverage after her!
USA Today Bestselling author Angela Pepper lives with her family in the rainy Pacific Northwest, surrounded by spoiled kitties, deer, raccoons, and the biggest woodpeckers you've ever seen.
I just love Stormy Day and her dad, Finnegan Day. they make a great team. Logan Sanderson is a great tenant and new boyfriend. I was really happy in the last book that they decided to try dating. Stormy's roommate is Jessica and then there is the little gray cat Jeffrey. There are other drop in people from the last book, so I really felt like I was a part of the collective.
The death was not even being considered murder until Stormy made noises to the police. Then they with rather lackluster attitudes joined in looking for clues. Good thing Dimples has a little thing for Stormy and was willing to check out things on the side with her.
Logan was in full lawyer mode and was working almost around the clock. There is a wonderful scene where Stormy wakes him up. Poor confused Stormy the next morning. That was just one hilarious moment in the book. I love the series as it makes me laugh and think as I try to keep up with what is being discovered in the case.
I can not wait to read book 5 when it comes out. I have been provided a copy of this book in return for an honest review.
This series is wonderful. I am a fan of both Angela Pepper and Stormy Day!
I didn't enjoy this one as much as the others but I did enjoy none the less. I felt like this book left some things open that I hope will be wrapped up in the next book.
Well yet again something was missing. The humor seems to have been toned down. This mystery was a little bland too. It was a very generic story line. The characters don't seem to be gelling well either at the moment. I did like the end of the story where everything was revealed.
I adore this series! Angela Pepper writes truly great characters. Stormy’s father Finnegan Day is a gem and someone I’d love to have a whiskey with while listening to stories about his days with the police. Even the secondary characters are incredibly well written and fleshed out, none of them is a one dimensional stand-in like I’ve come across in other people’s books.
The murder mystery was excellent. It was outrageous and twisty yet absolutely plausible. This is by far one of my favorite books that I’ve read in the last few years, if not ever. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.
This is another wonderful book in the Stormy Day series. I didn't want to put this one down once I started reading. The characters and the plot held my attention from the very beginning. After being invited to breakfast at the Koenig estate in Misty Falls, Stormy and her hunky boyfriend Logan soon find themselves involved in solving a suspicious death. There is humor, fun and mystery throughout the story as Stormy tries to put all of the puzzle pieces together in order to figure out if the death was murder and, if so, who the murderer or murderers might be. There are some exciting twists and turns in this charming cozy mystery that will keep you guessing until the very end.
Another fantastic book in the Stormy Day series. I have enjoyed each book & how each character is drawn out book by book so you really get to know them, not just bits & pieces. Stormy keeps everyone jumping & searches for the truth. These books are turning out to be more than just cozies so lookout Stephanie Plum...
I cannot wait for the next one & this one is not really out yet! Thanks Angela for another good book. Please keep them coming.
This is number 4 in the Stormy Day cozy series and what a fun one it was. Such a delightful, humorous series.
Logan and Stormy are called to the Koenig mansion for breakfast with the unofficial "King" of Misty Falls. Little did they know they would walking into his death instead. It's up to them, with help from Jessica and Finnegan, to discover the truth behind what really happened.
Let me tell you it's a fun mystery solving adventure full of laughs, danger and charm. I love the humor in this series so far and this one was no different as I was giggling often. I just can't believe it took me so long to find this genre. It's such a great break between my other, darker reads.

Secrets Abound as Millions Hang in the Balance
The richest man in town dies but was it an unfortunate accident or was it murder? Stormy Day is on the case and working with a delightful cast of characters secrets are brought to light and everyone that deserves to gets a happy end.
Another mystery, more romance, a dash of comedy and small town charm. This is a fun cozy mystery. Tiffany Williams is always a joy to listen to. Looking forward to the final book.
This was an enjoyable listen. I continued to enjoy the personal side to Stormy's love life and family life. This mystery had me guessing throughout, not quite figuring it out. There were a lot of suspects, red herrings, secrets, and lies. I have been enjoying the series and look forward to the next. The narration by Tiffany Williams added to the entertainment of this story. She was clear and lively, very much a good listen.
Angela Pepper continues to produce a fast paced mystery while also adding depth and texture to her characters. Stormy, Jessica and Logan all gain some facets while solving a convoluted crime and some old friends pop up. These are really fun reads, with characters you'll like and enough twists to hold your interest.
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
A will is to be read, after a death in the family. Heirs and heiresses are coming out of the woodwork, but is it a death,or a murder? Too many suspects, too many clues. And surprises for everyone, especially Stormy Day! Another addictive instalment for you to get your teeth into. Highly recommended reading.
This book was just so-so...it held my attention, but there were times when I caught myself wondering when it was going to be over. I like most of the characters and especially enjoy the quirkiness of the friendships. Not a fan of Della, but she has her place, and she's not all bad. When are we going to meet Sunny Day???
I liked Stormy back in her town and solving crimes. She and Dimples made a good team for this one. The writing was great like always and the mysteries as entertaining as ever. I will say that I wasn’t that thrilled with some of the relationship matters between Stormy and Logan, he’s not very nice sometimes.
Death of a Modern King (Stormy Day Mystery #4) was a great read by Angela Pepper. There is a suspicious death at the Koenig Estate that has everyone talking. Stormy Day was there when the death happened and she helps look into the death. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.
Meh.....just ok.....don't like the main character much. I do however love all the rest????? IDK...maybe it's just me. For this story the mystery was just ok...could've revolved around the boys a lot more. And it could've been a little funnier. Oh well.....Happy Reading :)
Another winner. This author writs great storylines and characters in every book. I highly recommend all her different series of books. She has a great sense of humour. Diana Romano
What an adventure this was with Stormy! I had my suspicions but the plot made me wonder. I like the quirky way Stormy gets involved in mysteries and her laid-back manner of solving them. Onward to #5!
This series is so charming, and I eat them up as soon as I can get my hands on each one. This one was lacking in some literary qualities, and the ending in particular didn't wrap up as cleanly as the others, but it was still such a pleasant read. I am a fan of the Stormy Day Mysteries.
This was a cute story. It became confusing towards the end when the killers were announced (there was just too much going on and too many people involved), but I enjoyed Stormy Day’s descriptions of the situations and the peoples reactions to them.
The fourth book in the Stormy Day Mystery series Death of a Modern King does not disappoint. Each book is entertaining and fun. This was probably my second favourite in the series. A nice light read and with a lot of humour and quirkiness which makes it a really fun read.
Okay. So. Stormy gets into a lot of crazy situations. Given the alarming regularity in which she stumbles over dead bodies, I worry the town will start shunning her soon. Nah, I'm just kidding. There will be no shunning. The town (mostly) loves her. She has friends tucked away everywhere she looks and a whole stable of men who keep giving her lovey-dovey eyes. *coughs pointedly at Officer Dimples*
She does, however, have an incredible talent for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Or maybe it's the right place. I don't know. What I do know is that dead bodies are practically falling into her lap, demanding she extract CRUEL VENGEANCE FOR THEIR UNTIMELY DEMISES! No, wait. That's not quite right. What she does is unearths the secrets behind how the stiff ended up, well... stiff.
And she does it well.
I mean, she might get in a tangle or two with a billboard while doing it, but she LEARNS something from that tangle. Kinda. And then she uses the skills her pops instilled her with to ferret out the secrets of the town. Also, she unearths a hidden bunker. Which is all sorts of fun for everyone.
Stormy is quirky and fun and she's certainly grown into the role she took on after finding that first body. She has a steady man (one who has a mystery or two lingering about him, it seems) and plenty of friends to lean on when the situation gets sticky. The only thing I worry about with her is who's going to end up dead next.
